  1. I love an offset design and would love to own an Ovation magnum one day. All of the models are ace, but this is my favourite.... The Lakland Decade is gorgeous too
  2. I'd be up for it too depending on dates
  3. All good suggestions and solid plans. However, in a potential search to scratch that Jazz itch I think it might be worth having a go on a Sire as I hear good things about them and they're in the same sort of price bracket. Andertons seems to be the only place that stocks both though so a little day trip might be in order. To be honest though I'm half hoping that everyone is wrong about Sire's and they're complete dogs to play. That way I don't need to get over the headstock 🤮😂
  4. Sounds like it could be right up my street then......... Again, not helping with GAS though! I was just wondering what it might be like because no where in London seems to have it in stock and getting to Andertons and back is a 5hr journey. I find neck preference a bit if a weird one though. I totally get liking different necks but I love the wide and flat neck of my 4003 as much as my thin and deep epi tbird....... I don't get it 🤔
  5. So would you say it's deeper than a jazz? In the pic it doesn't look like it tapers as much as a jazz either
  6. Lovely stuff, congrats with the new toy! I have a white classic pro, I'm not sure if the necks are the same (think they are?), but it's one of the best necks I've played.
  7. Stop it, I'm trying to resist!!! Their sale is very tempting and the L2000 is a decent price as well.
  8. Gorgeous bass, LPB with the blocks and binding is certainly easy on the eyes. I've heard nothing but good things about the whole Tribute line up and I'm trying my hardest not to get one of these in the sales...... this post doesn't help! Nice one with the new band too, good luck with it!
  9. I think I remember looking for a Jazz sometime near 2007 and going in there, but have no idea how long they were around before then..... Last time I went in I was chatting to them and found out that there's a few buildings that are now listed and have to remain as music shops. Great to hear that considering all the redevelopment and central location. Just a shame the 12 bar wasn't included on that list!
  10. There are UK specific groups on Facebook for bass gear too. Bass players market uk Bass players sell - buy - swap-UK only Are 2 that spring to mind but there's at least 5 or so more
  11. By the sounds of things 2020 is going to be a GAS free year and the classifieds forums will be dead soon! Just to follow suit I think my current line up is my favourite to date..... Rickenbacker 4003 Epiphone Thunderbird Classic Pro Fender MIJ 70s RI Precision Squier VM Jaguar Ovation B768 elite Harley Benton PB50 (although I bought this to have a go at modding and its in bits at the mo) However.......if an Ovation Magnum, Peavey T40 or G&L L2000 came up at a reasonable price I'd be very tempted and GAS would be back in full force!!
  12. I used to work around the corner from them and the lads in Wunjo's are great, always friendly, happy to let you try out whatever you want and open to negotitate on price.
  13. I bought an absolutely lovely Japanese p bass from Nik that has rekindled my love for p basses. Really great guy to deal with and he even dropped it over to me. Cheers Nik!!
  14. What curtains? 😋 The lean to is essentially an 8ft wooden shack that has been attached to the back of the house that you get to through the back door. It's where the fridge/washing machine etc live so there's no curtains up.
  15. Thanks for all of the help! The green house tent is a good shout to help stop it getting knocked, but I'm not sure i can get away with whacking it in the lean to! How important is keeping in in/out of direct sunlight? I think I can find a place to hang it on a wall out of direct sunlight, but there are a lot of windows so my placement options will be limited!
  16. Ahh, hadn't even thought about the bugs - cheers for the heads up on that. If I did chance leaving it in the shed do you have a rough idea of what that'd do to the drying time? I was planning on 3-4 coats of nitrocellulose colour then 6-8 clear gloss and had 2 weeks in mind as a rough drying time. My other options are...... A cupboard that used to house an immersion tank and is now empty. It's just outside the bedroom though so I have no idea if that's too close on the fumes front? I have a wooden lean to attached to the house that I would say is marginally warmer than a shed. The only downside is that the guitar is more likely to get a knock if left in here and it joins to our kitchen, so fumes may be an issue? Also, how consistent does the temperature have to be? Would whacking a fan heater on for half an hour or so in the evening be a good idea?
  17. Hey everyone, Sorry if this has been asked before, I had a quick search but couldn't find anything. I have an empty house of the weekend so am going to have a go at refinishing a Harley Benton PB50 that i have kicking around, it'll be my first time doing this so i'm not holding my breath for it to turn out great! I have an idea of the general process for refinishing the body, but was just wondering what everyone's opinion was on where to leave the body after I've sprayed on the colour coat? How warm and dry does a warm dry place have to be? I was thinking of leaving it in my shed for a couple of weeks - it's dry and will be as warm as the British weather permits, but was wondering if this will be OK? Thanks!
  18. Quick and easy transaction with no messing around, top Basschatter!
