1. I went wireless a few weeks ago after years of gigging with leads. Even though I haven't gone wandering all over the stage or through the audience (yet), the feeling of freedom and not worrying about leads is great. Even after a short time I wouldn't go back. Like many, I've got a Line6 g30 and it seems to do the business. Just ordered a neotech wireless pouch to make it more secure on the strap as I find myself checking the transmitter during the set. The sound quality FOH seems unaffected but I occasionally get a slight interference in my IEMs depending on where I'm standing. I hope to find a solution to this as time goes on.
2. Had mine for a month. Feel totally liberated on stage and would never go back to wired. Great value kit too.
3. Loving this thread, some great tunes out there which capture the emotions. Two from me, both quite haunting. Doves, Kingdom of Rust (the video is grippingly sad) http://youtu.be/dFM0pUn4dcA The Associates, Breakfast (the piano is just brilliant along with the aching vocal) http://youtu.be/tZ_4f4gVof4
4. Bargain, lovely guitars. If I could justify three Dingwalls I'd be all over this. Bump for a great guitar and GLWTS.
5. Very sad. Used to live 100 yards away and rehearsed there every week with my first ever band. Happy days.
6. Cool! I'll be the small bald bloke in some type of suit 😎
7. Should be; go to Andertons' website, I think info and tickets are there.
8. Thanks guys, sounds good. It's next Tuesday in Guildford.
9. Just got myself invited to a Nathan East clinic. Never been to anything like this before so don't know what to expect. Anyone done something like this before? Any suggestions as to how to get the most out of it?
10. 100% Hercules. The clip-in headstock ones are wonderful. Best I've ever used.
11. Loads of Duran Duran. Rio, of course, and Last Chance on the Stairway are particularly good.
12. Just completed my first transaction so putting this thread up in the hope of some positive feedback 😀
13. Bought a Dingwall ABI from Janek. The deal was done between London and Warsaw and all was very smooth. Thanks Janek, good to deal with you.
14.
Maybe we need to debate what constitutes a debate The 4 versus 5 string is a perfectly legitimate debate/discussion that will understandably come around every year or two, with contributions from newer members that bring their own views and experiences. As I said in an earlier post, I'd never given fanned fret basses any thought, but thanks to this thread and Iain's mention of the extra (37") scale length of the B string, it's got me thinking that maybe I should check one out.
You should definitely check out fanned frets, it gives that B string a whole new feel.
15.
I don't get it. What can you do on a 4 string that you can't on a 5?
Agreed, I'm confused. I see a five as having all the benefits of a four but with some advantages. I look forward to hearing the benefits of not having the fifth string.
16. Can't believe this hasn't been snapped up. Really great bass, have a bump.
17. Always rated Graham McGregor from Fiction Factory. Only one album but very tight playing, good slap work.
18. I have a 5 string version of this same bass and it was my main gigging instrument for a few years. Superb playability, the neck is so easy. Totally underrated and much better than the Warwick corvette $$ I had before. Have a bump and I can confirm that someone should be delighted if they snap this up.
19. For me, the biggest benefit of the 5 over the 4 is playability when gigging. I find it easier to play across the guitar in the same hand position rather than having to play up and down the guitar to get the same range of notes. Only rarely do I play stuff needing to go below the E so the bottom end is not the real benefit for me. Since moving to my first 5 a few years ago I've never looked back. They look cooler than 4s too 😜
20. Down, down, up is my preference. Great tune to practise with, that GOF number. Some early Duran Duran is useful too, particularly Planet Earth and Hold Back The Rain. JT used to say that he used a pick for these tracks cos he found it difficult with fingers. Personally, I find it easier with fingers.
21. Very excited, looking forward to playing this.
22. Wonderful bass. I have a similar one that I bought from Derek Forbes, he used it when playing for both Simple Minds and Propaganda. Great sounding and lovely to play. Have a bump and good luck with the sale.
23. After owning a shed load of basses over the past 20 years I've recently come to Dingwall and they're great. Beautiful looking collection you've got there!
