If the buyer arranged the courier and it is damaged, the buyer has to sort out the problem as you are not responsible.

In my experience you are opening yourself up to a classic eBay scam. You sell a guitar and offer personal collection or say the buyer can arrange a couier. Lets say the buyer arranged a pickup and pays using PayPal. You think everything is ok until the buyer puts a PayPal claim against you for non delivery. PayPal rules say you have to post the item and provide a tracking number. As you can't provide the tracking as you did not post the item out PayPal will refund the buying in full and you will lose your guitar and money. Just be careful as this has happened to me.

I work in the hifi industry and most of the manufacturers have a fixed repair fee no matter if a fuse needs changing or a whole replacement unit is sent back.Cost vary from £250 and £400. And postage charges are on top.

What is the difference between UK voltage and European voltage The voltage used throughout Europe (including the UK) has been harmonised since January 2003 at a nominal 230v 50 Hz (formerly 240V in UK, 220V in the rest of Europe) but this does not mean there has been a real change in the supply. Instead, the new “harmonised voltage limits” in most of Europe (the former 220V nominal countries) are now: 230V -10% +6% (i.e. 207.0 V-243.8 V) In the UK (former 240V nominal) they are: 230V -6% +10% (i.e. 216.2 V – 253.0 V) This effectively means there is no real change of supply voltage, only a change in the “label”, with no incentive for electricity supply companies to actually change the supply voltage. To cope with both sets of limits all modern equipment will therefore be able to accept 230V +/-10% i.e. 207-253V.

After a month with my Hofner HCT Club bass I noticed the A and D strings were quieter than the E and G due to the pickup being flat and the strings followed the contour of the neck. I know this is not unusual as the Jazz pickup also has this problem. In the past I've got around this on Jazz basses by buying pickups with raised A and D pole pieces. The Hofner pickup has four screws that can be undone to raise them nearer the strings... [attachment=238286:pickup.jpg] Because the screws are a very loose fit they tend to vibrate and cause a rattle or undo themselves due to the lack of tightness. After checking out a few threads on TalkBass some have added washers between the screws of the A and D strings but they complained it looked wrong and the washer size was hard to get. Last night while checking through a box of guitar bits I came across these... [attachment=238285:moT3zlO4zEz_jZ2-4mY6a8w.jpg] Guitar pickup springs. I cut them down so they were only FIVE rings in length. Removed the A and D screws. Popped the springs over the screws and refitted them to the pickup. Now I have neat looking raised A and D pole pieces that provide an equal output to the E and G strings. Sounds much more natural than using a compressor to balance the sound. Hope this helps fellow Hofner bass users.
