Ive just got a pair of the 80ohms version, and not sure what to think. Ive not heard a bad word said about them, but I’m not sure if I should send them back. Ive been using my old Sen HD25 for a few years, and a lot with my synth over the past couple of months. I think these can be a bit aggressive sometimes, but sound solid and punchy. Very happy with them, other than i am spending about 2-3 hours a day playing, and they are getting a bit uncomfortable. I looked around the web, did loads of research over a couple of days, and the DT770s seem to tick all the right boxes, especially the slightly boosted low end this version is supposed to have. I got them today and they look and feel great, but I’m not sure about the sound. They seem to lack mid range, and i felt the bass is not as punchy or as full as my HD 25’s. They also seem have a harsh top end (for example, when playing brass patches). Soundstage is very wide, which i like, but might be too wide from instrument playing. I’m not really going to use these to listen to music in general, as i prefer to use my Bose QC35’s, but i will listen to songs when learning them. Sorry, long winded intro. My question is will these get better once played in? Has anyone found the same with these? I’m not looking for suggestions as such, I’m happy to send them back and just live with my HD25’s, but I’d like to give them a chance if i can. Just wondering what all the fuss is about.

To be fair I wasn’t expecting them to fix it, it was a long time ago, but the attitude of asking me to prove it was like that 4 years pervious was a bit off IMO. Could have been handled better. So it’s this reason I won’t use them. As for the reference to TV’s and Washing machines etc, I believe the wording says something like ‘for what they are designed for’. I read that as a piece of professional gigging equipment should be up to what goes with the job.

You are of course welcome to your opinion. Are you saying that the amp won’t be covered? For what it’s worth, they said if I could have proven it never worked they would indeed sort it out.

I use G4M a lot and never had issues, and ive returned a few things over the years. Also used DV247. These days they seem to only send out European models so I always get a shaver adapter. For this reason i tend to avoid them for pedals etc. I have had a couple from G4M as well but ive got in touch and they have always sent out a proper UK PSU, meaning i get to keep the first one as well. The place i will never use it Guitarguitar. I brought a GK head from them that was great until about 4 years down the line and I realised (in the studio) the XLR was dead. I had never used it before so never noticed. They said i had to get it sorted at my expense. When i mentioned about it not beeping that old (thought we were covered for 5-6 years over here) i was told i had to prove it was faulty at the time of purchase. I can appreciate things could have broken during the time, i had it, but as it was never used i doubt it.

Yeah, ive seen the Acoustic piano hack. Apparently it’s slightly lower quality compared to the others, but very useful. Even just a CP Piano is fine. Ive found i just sit with the Reface and work out songs etc. And a piano seems to be the cleanest tone to use. The DX piano is ok i guess, does the job, but sounds a bit too artificial Even worth the MODX i tend to chop and change piano sounds. Too much choice sometimes, so the CP will be ideal. Ill never use it live.

Decided to well the DX. Its just not getting used much. Might get a CP once its sold. I really like the from factor, but the only thing i use the DX for is piano and the DX isnt that good at doing them.

Well you might not hear it under certain conditions, you may hear it under others. Who knows. I know of a few people that have reported interference from pub’s WiFi routers etc, so the better systems are (or should) be more robust. I agree though, for small pub type gigs these are fine, its just that you didnt state the type of gig in your post where you commented on why spend more.

Anyone use these? I want a small pair of robust headphones for using with my Synth at gigs and rehearsals etc. These look cool and i have had a go one them a while ago and though they sounded good with music. Not looking for Audiophile or anything to keep the sound out, just something to help me hear myself better. Just wondered if anyone was using them and what they feel about them.

How can it be dodgy if its working? You just aren’t noticing the difference. Thats all that counts isnt it? Even different leads/length can make a difference, but it doesn’t mean you will always hear it.

When I started using my Xvive, I had a few issues, as my guitarist was using them as well. Only at rehearsals though, we never seemed to get issues at the 2 gigs I did with them. When I swapped over to the Boss all those issues went away. Same room etc.

That’s very good advice. I’ll also add know the songs inside out if possible. That way you dont have to think too hard and don’t rely on hearing everyone clearly all the time. -
Did a pub gig years ago where a strippergram turned up for a birthday night (our backing singer was a strippergram but not in this league). It was quite a blue 30 mins. The funny part was she asked to borrow our singers mic. Did a few novel things with it over the 30 mins....then handed it back to our singer for the second set. Should have seen the look on her face. Us backing vocalists put a tight hand on our mic’s and wouldn’t let her change mic’s. We had to up the gain of her mic as she wouldn’t put it too close to her mouth 😬

I spent a lot of time going back and forth with mine, and like you i felt the BDDI was just a bit more ‘me’. As much as i love the older versions of the BDDI, for me the proper v2 is noticeably better than it seems to be on paper.
