Not quite a small and light but i have one of these. Didn’t get it for bass specificity but its been very handy.

There is a free version of Cakewalk available from Bandlab’s website. Very well polished DAW. Been using the paid versions for years.

I’m starting to put a very small recording set up together, based around my ipad. Not a cheap way but i already have th iPad, and its more powerful than anything I could afford in the laptop world (i have a PC but down want to use it). I can plug my Helix Stomp in to it via USB and record using that. It handles my bass/keyboard/guitar etc. I recently got a Yamaha Reface DX as a note pad type of thing, but it works perfectly as a controller in to my ipad. The free GarageBand is great, although i have Laos started using Cubasis which is even better. Obvulsy the ipad can be substituted for my PC if i choose. No need for a USB interface if i use the Helix, although hi have a Scarlett 2i4 if i need it.

Although not totally relevant to this thread, pedals like the BDDI (which is in the B1, as well as the Helix) have a Blend, but even with the effect right off the EQ still affects the clean tone.

I had a 55-01 and upgraded the preamp. Didn’t make much difference (then again why should it). My advice is start with the pups. Those Bart MK1’are quite boring.

Thats how I understand it. Parallel paths are great, but if a sim has a blend then its doing a similar job, assuming you are just using the second path to send the whole signal to. Being able to send only part of the feq range to a clean path is handy i guess, although pedals that have a blend usually dont, and they seem to work fine for most off us.

Yeah, way too much latency. Just tried it with my Helix and BT transmitter. Fine for music of course, but not with playing. Could be the type of BT system though. Mines pretty old.

As soon as the signal hits the input it’s converted to digital, just like in the Helix. Nether is passing a pure analogue signal through them, not even when using parallel paths. Have you (or anyone) tested a 100% clean blend compared with the sim turned off? It should be the same. in which case its acting just like the real thing isn’t it?

Ill give it a go this afternoon. I have a BT transmitter somewhere.

See, i feel the original is a huge sleep inducing drug. In fact when we play it it has a bit more life but still boring as hell (as are all the FM songs yo my ears). I’m not saying what the other band have done is anything special, i can hear its just done as close as possible but in their style, its just that it has life and a bit more of the type of music i like. Appeciate this sort of music is waaaaay below most members standard on here, but if you like something you like it, no matter what others think. Some of the cack that’s already been posted here shows that lol.

Haha, was that the split bass/piano one. Must admit i tried to play it but not sure i got what the patch was supposed to be doing. Ive gone through loads, but i was looking for more Roland type strings and brass, which i found. So later i might actually start to play something. The lack of a Mod wheel is starting to bug me a bit. Not a deal breaker, but i do keep going to the pitch bend to bring it in, or pushing down harder on the keys. Of course neither work like that. Just need to get used to it. Its mainly for the organs.

Yeah, I think I’ll be tinkering on it a lot, even if I don’t record much. I just wish I could get Babe by Styx out of my head. Since turning the DX on that’s all I can hear lol.

Yeah, speakers are fine for just playing around. I did find one patch that when I played a chord the speakers could not handle it and they cut out. Lowering the volume was fine. ill have a look at the app when I get back home. I think I was trying to do to much on the fly. I can see me using it a lot as a controller in GB though. Surprised how well that worked with just a USB cable.
