  1. If they did an all in one full sized version I’d go back to playing keys lol. Just been playing with my new DX. Love it. The keyboard is surprisingly easy to play. No issues there (other than hitting the right notes due to not knowing where they should be). The quality is better than i thought. Nice weight to it and it feels sturdy. Sounds are good through the small speakers. Not tried headphones yet. Must admit i find a lot of them quite samey. Been going through Soundmondo and found a few favs, inc a nice non DX sounding piano, and a patch called JP Strings. This is just what i was looking for. Anyone know how to save these as a list of fav etc. I kept hitting the little blue icon thinking they were getting added to a list, but i think all i did was re post them. Ive saved a few to the DX but with so many patches on the web I’d like to find my favs quickly. I noticed a set list feature. Guessing that will do once ive figured it out. Only omission for me is the lack of a Mod wheel. I’d much rather have that than the pitch bend. I’m not a solo type of player.
  2. So you stay at the bar during the support band’s set 😬
  3. Cool set up. Yes, these are surprisingly cheap. Just got my DX for £248 which i thought was reasonable. Although i have a keyboard player in the band he will only be using my Korg N5, which is ok, but when i heard the YC I almost brought it for him. Seems to knock the socks off the Korg’s organs. As much as i love what the DX can do, when i heard the YC it made me grin. I’d love to get one, and I’d let him use it, but the DX just seems the best all rounder for home recoding. I am thinking about possibly using the DX myself live, if i can figure out how and when. Can you get the ‘famous’ DX Brass on the DX? By that I mean is there a preset for it, rather than create it. I know about Soundmondo so ill be looking at that once i get all hooked up to my ipad. EDIT: Just noticed there is a FM Brass patch. Oh dear......😂
  4. I really want the others, but I’ll see how i get on with the DX (arriving today). Ive always loved organ sound so that would be next. I have a feeling the DX will cover me for that and piano to start with though.Ive had mini keys before and thought they were ok. Did the job at home. This sort of came about as my Roland controller doesnt work, and my son likes to tinker around on it. I was just going to get another keyboard controller but then saw these. Need to get some piano lessons in now. Off to YouTube today.
  5. That’s the one I mentioned in my post. I used to prefer it to the real thing at one point. It’s a bit brighter. Still got mine, even though I also have a BDDIv2.
  6. Ah, but no need if you have a Helix, and would need a bigger mini board to put it on 😏
  7. Actually I’m in big time, which surprises me. Last bass gear was the BB435, and that was back at the shop by 22nd March. Only music gear ive brought since then is the Yamaha Reface DX that i brought yesterday, and thats a a keyboard so not a fail. I did get the Roland foot switch to use with my Stomp, but as that will work with the keyboard thats not a fail either, as its not bass specific. If that BB435 turns up again then I’m out i guess. No one likes me and ive not washed since lockdown, so I’m good for the social distencing thing as well 😂
  8. Its not a very demanding pedal so i cant see why not.
  9. Probably nowhere near as bad as mine these days. I was always more of a synth player rather than a keyboard player. I could do the pads, brass, filling out stuff, but never any good at piano and organ. That’s why I gave up. As we were doing more and more covers it was just beyond my ability. Very hard decision as to which one to buy, but the DX seemed the best all round for me. Arriving Friday. Can’t wait to hear those tubular bells again lol.
  10. My N5 has a lot of the M1 sounds in it. These go for around £230. Not quite the same thing though.
  11. Cheers. The YC will be next on my list. I was very tempted to get the CS but it’s lack of storage seems a big omission. I haven’t really played key much over the past 10 years anyway, but do tend to mess about in Garage band on my iPad. The Reface keyboard will be a big step up from playing on a glass one lol. My keyboard player only uses my Korg N5, so I might let him use the DX as well, with strict instructions not to use his left hand. Band just rejected my suggestion of doing the theme from Top Gun 😂
  12. Yes, that’s exactly what I’m planning, although I’ve been told I’ll get nose and interference. I’ve got the relevant adapters coming next week. I have to at least give it a try. I may end up not using the comp after a while, after all, I’ll have the Stomp for that as well, but to start with I prefer to use the Becos as it has the meter. Cheers.
  13. I used to have a DX27, but I remember always wanting a Jupiter 8. I eventually got a used from from Digital Village for next to nothing. Traded it in for a used DX7 a year or so later. It has a grounding issue so hummed. Then I managed to get a D50. Loved it but needed some cash so i sold it.and got a M1EX cheap. When i stopped playing keys I sold that and got a Korg something or other. Had a few others the years, and still have a Korg N5. These Reface’s look very cool, and cheap. just ordered the DX anyway.
  14. Sorry, I mean to post back earlier. Yes, reversing the tip fixed it. I had forgotten about that at the time i first tried. Now my OCD is at rest. Cheers.
  15. In a previous life i was a keyboard player, and have owned a DX7, DX21 and DX100. Never really got to grips with programming them from scratch, but loved what they did. This was of course in the 90’s. My heart was won over by a Roland D50 though, and then Korg. Anyway, ive been watching some Yamaha Reface DX videos and really fancy one. Just for playing around with at home, although maybe with the band if i can figure out how to. We do have a keys player, Does anyone use one, or any of the Reface range? Just wondering what these are like to play, what with the small keys. I’m just looking to do one hand stuff, so 8 notes is fine.
  16. I’m not really sure what that means, but no, not really, ive said that, it was just something i noticed specific to this pedal. The order of the physical pedals cant be changed.
  17. No, thats not it as far as i can make out. What I’m saying is the first switch on the Roland always gets assigned to FS5, and the second to FS4, so in a way its back to front. As far as i can see FS4 and FS5 can be programmed for various things, but your cant changed FS4 to FS5 etc, EDIT: sorry, forgot to say thanks for the post 👍
  18. How do you do that’s? Ive looked in global but cant find anything. For reference my other cheap 2 way switch does go left to right (4 - 5) i know how to assign the on/off to each block, so its really more an OCD thing than a problem as such.
  19. Ah, just found two minor issues. The footswitch has to be used in non latching mode, so although the LED’s will flash, they wont stay on. Thats fine, as long as i have some indication of them being activated. Secondly, switch A gets assigned to FS5, and B to FS4. Not sure if i need to get a different TRS cable. Not a big deal as I’ll probably use B to change the channels on my amp, so that will go direct to the head, and so use A as the extra switch.
  20. Must admit I’m very happy with the Roland foot switch I got. Its very sturdy and i might end up mapping the most used effects to these, as the switches are easier to hit. Each has its own LED, along with the power LED. The LED’s follow the latching/momentary setting. I like how the two can be used together or separately as well. These two, plus my Becos Comp will be all i need for now. I suppose ill have to put them on a small board. Probably a PT Nano, which seems the perfect size.
  21. Everything ive read says patch change only. Would be great if it did block on off though as its a cool foot switch. I had thought about having multiple patches with different blocks on, but thats a bit too involved for what I’m looking to do.
  22. Same here, but as stated, what sounds good is the correct order.
  23. Nice one. We have a gig on the 4th July booked, but haven’t heard if its going ahead and really doubt it will. I dont think my drummer would do it, but he is on his way out anyway.
  24. Same, for all my basses. I do have XT’s on my Yamahas at the moment. Ok on the P34 but just prefect on my 425. Not sure i will stick with these strings, ive yet to actually gig them, but its funny how the same string works with one bass and is just ok on another.
  25. Yep. Im going to be having a clear out when I get back to work. I lent it to a customer just before lockdown. Just need to get it back.
