Most of that is how i feel, certainly when it’s being compared to the Stomp. It looks like a good unit (we dotn really know yet), but those saying they will jump ship based on seeing one or two guitar reviews will probably re think once the euphoria has died down and the specs have been discussed more. In its favour, for me, is the larger screen. I think that will be easier to read on a gig, and as already mentioned i like the input meters (as small as they are). I guess it is still on its first FW though, it could improve like the Helix did. As for running out of steam with just 4 blocks. Anyone found this? I dont believe its ever going to be an issue for 99% of users. Ive not read anyone maxing out the DSP with Just 4 blocks unless they are trying to, certainly not in the huge Helix threads we have on here as far as i can recall. 1 user’s true or false statement is hardly a reason to sacrifice the other plus points of the Stomp IMO. If there were widespread reports maybe, but as ive never run out of steam its a non issue for me. I’d much prefer a broader sweep of manufacturers pedals than just mostly Boss. Still, it does have the BDDI so it would do me if i was still playing bass. It would be great to get a comparison between the B1-Four/Stomp and Boss versions. The BIG issue i would have is no dedicated headphone amp. This would mean no matter what instrument I’m playing i wouldn't buy this. I rely on this so much with my Stomp (and Zoom’s), and that the price of the Boss buying even more gear to get back to where i was is not an option i would consider.

Well obviously you adjust the blend knob to taste, but a lot of new owners keep it right up. It will also depend on the tone you are going for, and whether your rig will work with that setting, but untimely, you don’t run it at 100%, which is what ive said.

Ive been saying this for years, the trick to getting a good tone out of this is to keep the Blend dialled down. Most experienced users know this, but it takes a while for this to sink in, as you do lose the overall amp sim tone. Not really needed if you are using an amp though.

I brought a DG pedal from Mark a few years ago. I emailed him about a possible issue after about a week with it, and he called me up the next day and talked me though the problem. Fantastic service.

What's the best class D bass amp head you've used?

Its the BC way 😂 -
Using a PA speaker as a bass cab - it's awful!

I thought it was only rehearsal studios that had these ‘premium’ speakers these days lol. We gave our away (along with a desk) when we upgraded our PA a few years ago. Couldn't believe the difference they made. I do have to suffer them at rehearsals though. -
Your guitarist is a better bass player than you!

Haha, bloody hell, I HATE my phone lol. -

Totally agree. I used to dep with a band where i was the weakest link (although i could keep up). I loved playing with those guys. Whenever I’d go back to my own band they knew I’d been playing with the others as i was playing better. -
Think thats bad. My band once rehearsed in a room straight after Rockbitch. Clothes were definitely low down on the list of things to take to that rehearsal (no, not my band lol)

Yes, but a clarification. My guitarist isnt as good at playing bass as i am, but as he is a good guitarist he knows his way around chords and stuff, so technically a better musician. Doesn't really show at gigs though, as he plays in a very messy way. My bass player is a better bass player than me, and he also plays guitar almost as good as my guitarist. In fact he was our guitarist before he left a couple of years ago. Now he is back on bass, which is his primary instrument anyway. Where i win is i can remember all the songs and how they go. No faffing around on strange trying to remember chords, what OD to use etc. Just stand there waiting for the next song and getting on with it. I guess thats for another thread though. Ironically the guitarist is also a better piano player than me, apparently. He has a grade 5 or something like that, which is a bit more intimidating as I’m still very rough. Don’t you just hate some people lol. -
Couldnt agree more. Just a different flavour of the same thing. A few extras, no doubt a few things missing that the Stomp has as well. Time will tell. Being a member of a few Helix FB groups i dont get why the Stomp keeps getting mentioned as having issues. Its not widespread, just taken out of context as far as I’m concerned. A very, very few owners that had had issues do not make it a problem box, at least no more than anything else. I have two broken Boss pedals at home, I’d certainly avoid that manufacturer as well 😁

As mentioned 18 hours ago right near the top of the thread lol.

Wonder how many shot off to YT to find a video 😂

Might have been me. It definitely took me a couple of years before i went back to mine after the first gig (actually a BDI-21) and actually found how to use it properly. Hated it at first. Then one day as i was about to sell it i turned the Blend knob down to about 10 o’clock and there was the tone ive pretty much used since.
-
Are you saying you cant get it close to a real BDDI or you just cant get a likeable all tone? I still have my B1-four and Helix Stomp. When i first got the B1 i did a BDDI test, just in headphones though. I found the Helix BDDI has more life to it, and the B1 sounds a bit thicker. Possibly a lower quality causing this. Still usable though. This is just with mild drive and a P bass. Cant really suggest anything other than keeping the Blend knob below noon, which is something that gets a lot of new owners. That Blend know is the key to getting a usable tone out of the BDDI.

We once got paid an extra £50 by the landlord to play the theme from Only fools and horses. We used to do it occasionally but had run out of time at this gig. Apparently it was the highlight of his night when we play it. This time it went on for about 5mins, with a sing along section in the middle.

Sorry, thats the one I’m watching now. I love how JH told Lars off. Ill try that line with my drummer at the next rehearsal lol.

Just watching that now. Not seen it before. Quite entertaining.

Should add, i dont think we would get a shots glass filled the state my band is in at the movement. Thats for another thread.

Well it works for pub strippers 😮

Seems to cost over £100 more than the Stomp, so will have stiff competition. I like the layout though.
