I got my BQ550 a week ago and it was still reversed.

Headphones only for me at home. Sitting on my bed with bass and ipad plugged in to either my Zoom B1-on or my pedal board that has my Spectradrive at the end which has 1/8th aux in and headphone out. I tend to just browse through YT when i get bored and learn new songs, even though ive probably sat down to learn band songs.
-
Yeah, the manual/instructions aren't clear, although the YT videos are.....sort of. i found i can get quite a nice dirty tone with the Enhance turned right up, although its not a tone id find a real use for as i have better ways of doing it.

i found mine to be a bit scooped as well at first, and although it sounds great in isolation it wants what i was looking for (i have the BDDI for that). But, after playing with it a lot, and finding as with the BDDI, the trick is in the blend knob, i find its adding just enough 'difference' to leave on all the time. Combined with my Spectradrive (just been replaced with a BH800 head) there is a lot of fatness and bite there if i want it, without the obvious colourising the BDDI does. Overall very happy with the SS, it does what its supposed to and no more, but i wish it was a different shape, or the in and out jacks were further apart.

The TC watt issue never effected the BH range, it was only the RH heads so not sure what you were hearing other than a 500watt head not being loud enough for you. It definitely had nothing to do with what you had read as BH heads have never been said to have issues.

I agree with this. It sounds like he is very experienced, and maybe set in his ways, which might clash with someone else’s ways. I record all our rehearsals, and they can sound good and tight, but there definitely don’t replicate what i hear in the room. If you have to dig in more this will effect your playing. Recordings will compress things and can make it all sound smoother, but if you are struggling to play with him, and he cant hit softer I’d say he might not be ideal. Its whats happening in the room at the time you need to worry about. So I’d go with No1, but I’d also agree with the others that maybe a longer one each will give a better indication of how the future may go. Getting on with others is a huge part of being in a band. We just got rid of our drummer because he kept winding us up and just wasnt on our level. There was always an atmosphere and it just wasn’t enjoyable anymore. We got out old drummer back and although he isnt any better, we all get on so much better that it’s completely trdanformed the band and atmosphere. Counts for a lot IME.

I agree about the Mojomoj. I used mine for one night on my board and took it off. It just wasnt want i wanted. It sounded too dark to me. Maybe ill try it again at some point while i still have it . Seems like a good pedal for the money though. I love my Joyo OD pedals though, especially the Orange Juice..

Dont agree, ive never used the FX loop on my amps for my BDDI, or any other pre amp. I prefer the extra flexibility themaps EQ gives on top. Sure, it might sound better, (didnt when i tried it once yesrs ago with my MB head), but ive never had a problem using mine in to the amps preamp.

I have checked the surrounding frets. All look like they are seated ok. I’d expect at least the outer string to have an issue if it was raised, not just the second one in. Cheers.

No, I went over it with them in the dressing room. It was all good on the night. They still play that version to this day.

Wasn't sure if i should post this as we weren't on form that night, but what the hell. Shot with my GoPro clamped to the PA speaker stand, with audio from a digital recorded at the front of the stage. It was an interesting gig as i hadn't played live with the drummer and guitarist before (who you cant really see), and our old drummer on backing vocals.
-
Just remembered about a gig i did as a dep a few years ago. I had played with this band a few times so knew their set and versions etc. We were asked to play Cant take my eyes off you as a first dance, as the B&G had a routine worked out. play it at the same tempo as the original etc. Band agreed, it was on their play list anyway. When B&G left the room i pointed out that their version was nowhere near the version they were asked to play. they had 3 solos, and an extra repeated verse in it. Quite funny seeing the blood drain from their little faces when they realised they didn't know how it should go. Just as well my band did a straight version of it. We were in the middle of nowhere so internet either.

Well know im special lol. Every band ive been in ive put 100% in to it to make sure im not the one letting us down. Im not saying im always spot on, far from it, but i make if i say ill do something i will. As a group that agrees to do something i think it fair that you dont let others down. That shouldn't sound as heavy and intense as it comes across though, 🙂

Ha, i was going to PM you about mine this weekend. Glad your sorted now though.
-
Yep, i had that rep in my old band. Thing is until i came along (we were mates before but I hadn’t had any contact with them for years) they had one pub gig every 3-4 months. I became the pain that woudld keep motioning about mistakes and lack of tightness, and i pushed and pushed until we were good enough to get on agents books. The band lasted 13 years, and at our peak we were doing 50+ functions a year.......and still I was never happy lol. Even right to the end they would say that we go down well enough so its all good. No need to learn new songs as we have enough etc etc. But they would eachmoan about the others behind thier back, but i was the only one that would just come out and say it, and It helped a lot.

When he stops talking and rambling, which seems to take him a long time to do.
-
Nah, thats way too long a sentence for them to write 🙂 Actually none of the guitarist have been sacked for that, they just weren't any good. The drummer mainly pushed for those to go. One said he knew all the songs before he joined, but then realised he knew 'different versions'....of every song 8-). Even though he had the play list for a few weeks before coming along he was so lost it was embarrassing. He could play, but somehow chose not to play any of our songs. Should add, im not the one running the band, im just the one that speaks up when the rest all pat themselves on the back because we managed to get through a song.
-
Not me, i'm perfect lol. Yes, i make allowances for it, and its not something that would driver me to leave a band, but still annoying.
-
Its not just this band, its all bands ive been in. its not often, but i just cant get my head around people that do this. GF is included in this, so you see my predicament lol. But yes, we are slowly replacing the other members. Gone through 4 guitarists in the past 2 years, and now have a new drummer (ironically our old drummer from a few years ago). Im probably the send least talented member of the band, but definitely the most dedicated.
-
Cheers. The current singer in my GF, so i put up with the struggle as i really cant be bothered to find somewhere else to live lol. Sometimes i think its just me being picky, but what gets to me more is the attitude from the others that it doesn't matter, it will be fine. We just got rid of our drummer of 2 years, as he was always playing the songs wrong (as opposed to just making the odd mistake), Id had a long stint with him making mistakes, and at his reply was always 'well, how do you want me to play it' i pointed out quite a few times that i was the bass player........

Sounds like the film Rock Star.
-
Yeah, that's them. I know of the film but never seen it. i just love their version of that song. Strangely it was on Spotify but now its not, so that makes it hard for those who cant be bothered clicking on a YT link to get to grips with it. This is just one of many instances of course. Yep, definitely CBA most of the time. Its hard to keep the enthusiasm going when we have to keep going over stuff ive already spent time going over at home or at previous rehearsals. we get there in the end but it can sometimes be a struggle.
