  1. Maybe something on here will fit. https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=small+camera+bag&ref=nb_sb_noss_2
  2. Yes, thats a cool feature that i do use with my MB800. Its cool that my Helix Effects can control this as well. Having the ability to not change the tone but to have it go louder with a bit more dirt is a good feature. Looking forward to having more control over the second channel using the Edge knob.
  3. Thanks. I wish the 500 was actually 500watts in to 4ohms, im sure that would be more than loud enough for any of my gigs. Still, nice to know i wont be drowned out by my drummer. Hoping there will be enough of a (good) difference between this and the MB800 to warrant it. Still, ive got two rehearsals and a gig within the first 30 days so the option to return it is there. Does anyone know were the HPF is set? I know it has one but havent seen the Freq mentioned
  4. I loved mine as well. Only sold it because i got the BDDIv2 and didnt want to use both. In hindsight i should have kept the VTDI.
  5. Must admit I don’t use any amps at home, so this won’t be a feature ill ever use. Same goes for my MB800 and Fender Rumble. For me I’d need a cab sim built in to the head to bother with the headphone out, although i do get how useful it can be for others who don’t have something like a Helix or Zoom etc.
  6. Ill be using it with my 4 ohms Berg CN212. More than enough for any gig ill be doing without PA support (pretty much 100% of them). This head is replacing the MB800 for gigs, but ill continue to user my MB200 for rehearsals.
  7. I’m off to start a rehab thread lol
  8. Just ordered the 800 from Andertons. Should be here on Friday. Won't get to use it with a cab until next Tuesday though. Hope its going to be ‘the one’.
  9. Ive just brought my second GK head this month lol. Ill never get the hang of this thread 🙂
  10. Just as well i have thin piano player fingers. Cant say ive ever found the knobs to be problematic, but those heads are very small and cramped so i can understand the comments.
  11. Yeah, that works fine in to our PA desk. Just a bit disappointed that the XLR is dead and seems to have been like that when i got it (new). I just didn't need to use it for the first 5 years so never noticed.
  12. This is what Robert Gallien says about the 500. Bottom line, i cant get 500watts in to my CN212 so the end result is the same as i said above. I didn't post that chart though. I want to talk about the Legacy 500 concept. From the beginning of this project I wanted to bring out a model that had similar specs to the 800RB. We haven't had an amp like the 800RB since it went out of production so this is what I was aiming for. The 800RB put 300W into 4 Ohms from one side and 100W into 8 Ohms from the other side. Total output power was 400W but it took a 4 Ohm cabinet and an 8 Ohm cabinet. Very few people used the 100W side so mostly it was used as a 300W amplifier. As it turns out 300W is a very good power level when you want to use the rails and that is where a lot of the GK growl comes from. When you have more power, the levels get really loud when you go into the rails so 300W is kind of a sweet spot. When the Legacy 500 is loaded to the same max as the 800RB you will get 450W which is a little more than the 800RB. The 300W rating into 4 Ohms is at 1% which when compared to other amplifiers whose ratings are based on 5% or even 10% it will seem more powerful than it's rating. This has been a common comment regarding GK amplifiers, that they seem much louder than the rating. I am very interested in your comments regarding your new head, and I hope it delivers what you are looking for.
  13. Cheers Pete. Yep, the MB200 is working well, and has made me realise my tone is in the GK world. Not had to push the gain over noon yet, and thats keeping up with a guitarist who uses ear plugs and a tube head in to a 4x12 cab at rehearsals. God help us lol,.
  14. The only thing putting me off (other than cost), is deciding what ill gain tone wise, and what ill lose over the MB800. Im sure ive got a good idea what to expect, but its still a gamble. Most references i see about these heads are in relation to the RB800, but i have no experience with that head. Im thinking if its cleaner, tighter in the lows, and warmer then thats 100% what im after. Warmer isnt a big deal though. I also find the new Gain/OD Edge knob to be a big plus. I do use channel 2 on my MB800 for drive, so having a bit more control over it seems like a really nice addition.
  15. Yeah. According to the designer the 500 was designed to closely mimic the RB800 that its based on. As that's only 400watts (i believe) i can see the point. you can push the head harder at lower volume. Still very confusing though.
  16. I did some research over Christmas on the Spector's but didnt really find anything i liked in my price bracket. Not too keen on over bright tones, especially because i play with a pick and dont like the extra fret buzz i tend to get when i dig in. Never say never though..... Good to know it can be tamed.
  17. Thanks, thats not what i wanted to hear lol. Ive never played a RB800, although do use the sim in my Helix at home. Had a RB1001-Ii for a while but cant remember what that sounded like. I do love my MB800 but feel something a bit thicker might be better for me. Not after the GK grind so much, but i love how they have that kick to them, even when playing Motown stuff. Ive read a few comments about the treble being quite bright, but i guess thats why we have a knob to tame it. After i posted last night i read some reviews on the 500 and realised its not a 500watt in to 4ohms head like it seems, so yes, its the 800 or nothing.
  18. I keep going back to my MB800. In the past year ive gone through 3 other heads, but have now gone back to GK. i like them all, but the GK just has the kick i prefer. Only issue with my MB800 is the DI doesn't work. Not going to bother fixing it as I'll probably buy a Legacy soon, but in the meantime I'm happy use it. Also just brought a MB200 for rehearsals. Just wanted to point out, having the Contour at 12 means its active and doing quite a bit, so not flat.
  19. I would make use of that. Quite a few of us use things like pre amps, wireless receivers etc, which sit on top of the amp. Not having to run a wall wart type PSU, but also not wanting to use a pedalboard would be fantastic. For years i used a BDDI and Line6 witless receiver sitting on top of my amp. I always wished for a head with 9v out.
  20. Yeah, already a thread about that. There is also a tube version coming with tube compressor in it.
  21. So how's everyone getting on with their Legacy heads? Must admit I'm very close to buying one. would like the 800 to replace my MB800, but feel the 500 will be enough for now.
  22. Not sure how a programmable drive would work on a head like this. Most heads with a second gain structure also use the main EQ settings. Its nice that GK have added the Edge knob, so you do have some control over the drive section, unlike the MB series. you still have programmable drive amount, output and a bit of extra tone shaping. I prefer it this was as i woudl get my tone, only with a boost and a bit more dirt. The MB series has the wobbly knobs as well. Not been a real world issue as far as i can see, but i get that they do feel a bit cheaper than the more solid single use knobs.
  23. Lower price maybe 😂
  24. My guitarist doesn't have one. So thats a Stomp, IEM and a better PA we need to buy instead of a bass cab 🙄
  25. Bit of a review over on TB. This is what was posted. ' OK, I bought one, the 800 Watt version. Quick & Dirty Impressions: - It sounds amazing right out of the box with no effort at all. - The owners manual in my box is clearly not a "final" version, and the descriptions of each knob's feature are pretty unsatisfying. I've been playing bass since dinosaurs walked the earth, and there are quite a few head scratchers in these descriptions. Hopefully they will update this. They could take a huge lesson from Mesa Boogie in this area. - Along these lines, it is going to take me some time to figure out how all of the features work and interact with each other. - The plastic knobs feel a little cheap to me. The "push" engage feature of the controls, gives a more flexible (almost wiggly) feel to the knob. I don't know the mechanics behind this, but no one wants to feel a wiggly anything on their amp. We will see how they hold up. - I tried some of the presets from the demo version, and although they sounded different in my house (different bass, recording interface), they sounded similar and quite good. I used an active, passive and piezo bass, and was happy with the sound using all of them. - When using headphones, there were a couple items that I didn't love. 1) The Standby Switch doesn't work through the headphone send. So even though the light changes from blue to white when you engage it, the audio still comes through the cans. This was an unpleasant discovery when I turned my amp off while wearing my phones and received a squeal/squelch into my earbone. 2) no matter how I set the Trim, Normal and Master volumes for a clean sound, I could hear a low level distortion in the signal. Maybe it was my phones, I will check it out through the speakers and other headphones, and see if I can still hear it. - The Overdrive Channel: It has its own foot-switch and cable which is nice and works well. The thing with the overdrive channel is it is not programmable, so even though I can preset the Overdrive Level, Edge/Cut, and Level/Body settings, I have to use whatever other settings are currently on the rest of the amp. So there is not much opportunity to use the switching to get a very different sound and EQ, just the same sound you are currently using with overdrive added. I honestly am not too crazy about the sounds I am getting from this section, but I am still in a learning curve. But for example, the Level/Body features are on the same clickable knob. So if I want to set my overall output level, I cannot effectively use the "Body" feature because that will also raise or lower the output. So if you like the body level high, your output will be too loud. Yes, I can adjust the master or send volume, but then when I click off the overdrive channel back to the Normal channel, my volume will be too low. I can imagine that I will not get much use out of this overdrive channel, unless I have a eureka moment. - Small item: The Standby light is ALWAYS on when the amp is plugged in to power. It goes off when you go out of standby mode, but when I am done playing and pack up, that damn white light is still shining like a beacon to those lost at sea! I wish I could turn it off. So, still early, still exploring, but I can confidently say that the amp sounds really, really good, is light and portable, looks amazing. It sounds like a GK, has balls, edge and power, and I like it a lot. '
