  1. Although I'm more than happy to do my own setups, i would be more worried about hidden issues if a bass really couldnt be played. High or low action i can fix, but if i was looking to try a bass in a shop and it was impossible to play (strings on the frets, neck warped badly) I'd pass.
  2. Nice one. Very useful. Thanks for taking the time to do that. Shame Line6 wont update the official documentation.
  3. Both me and the guitarist are wireless. We (she) didnt try any other channels. These things are something ill make sure she looks in to before the next gig. We have had a rehearsal with them and they worked perfectly. That was at a busy studio complex that gives me issues with my Boss WL20 system. It's not a case of HAVE, its more WANT.
  4. Just a cheap G4M Sub-Zero UHF system. We completely lost the signal to the receiver when sound checking, so we set the monitor up. There was a lot of feedback from the mics so we turned the monitor down once we got the IEM working again. No idea what was causing the cut out. Channels were set correctly, no errors or warning on either device. Just nothing in the ears. Re stared it all and it worked fine until later , when it cuts out again. I wasnt really paying much attention to what she was doing, i was setting other things up. We normally have the monitor quite loud, but because of the feedback we had to keep it low. Im sure that part of it will be a one off, but its a bit worrying about the IEM's cutting out. Could be a bad cable etc, but on the night i couldn't terse it out.
  5. Played at the Hop Poles in Enfield on Sat. We are only really just getting going as far as playing live goes, so we are quite loose still. Stage is boomy and room very live. Had a great time though. First time with my Berg Cab, and i cant believe how loud i was. A bit too loud i think. Bass was nice and full sounding though. and its taken me about a year to find a tone I'm really happy with. Still a slight niggle about what amp i should use. This was the second outing for my Fender head, but i want to try my GM MB800 at the next gig. I feel the GK might have a bit more punch and have a less traditional tone, but i am really happy with the Fender. Past 3 gig's have been with a Fearless F112 and while i know its a a fantastic cab, its just not been working for me. The Berg on the other hand is almost perfect. Not as extended at the low end (better for these wooden stages), but a more even output acorss the full range without needing EQ fixes. Nice to be back with a 2x12. Singer was also using IEM's for the first time, and had a few issues with them cutting out. Because she used them the monitor on stage was very low, so it was hard to hear when she was going wrong.
  6. I always do mine, after all, no one knows what works for me other than me, but I'd expect to walk out of shop paying ticket price with a bass that is set up as close as possible to my liking. Ive not brought a bass from a shop for a few years, but those i have (and none have been expensive basses) ive always been offered a free set up before leaving.
  7. I'm not sure of the models i tried, other than one was a ABZ. Definitely not a P of any kind though. All played like a dream though.
  8. Haha, lets face it, no one in this thread could hold on to it for too long. When i say 'found', i just meant the kitty had built up. it was more than i thought i had. with the gig money from christmas i can afford the Ibby ive been looking at.......oh dear.....
  9. I 'found' £900 in a drawer at home. Christmas bonus plus remains of amp sale end of last year. Not sure it will hit the bank before its allocated to something i dont need lol.
  10. I think the B sounds pretty good in this video
  11. I was handed a Dingwall at a gig a few years ago, and played a whole set with it. First time id ever played one. No difference at all, other than the bass felt easier to pay than my Fender P. Its just a natural thing, you dont even have to think about it. I didnt notice the extra long neck, although i wasn't aware it was longer at the time. Ive played 3 other Dingwall's since, and all played like this. None appealed to me sonically at all though. They all seemed to lack character.
  12. I was watching some videos about the B|amp at the weekend. Very cool, especially the cab profiles. Then i noticed the price 😞
  13. I find the same with blocks on a maple neck. Just not right.
  14. Yeah, the pitch sift has got me covered for two songs. One was a Christmas song i refused to re learn at such a late stage (keys should have been worked out weeks before), and when trying out a new song last Thursday we tried a song in 3 different keys. Quite a few notes and runs so i decided to use the PS. Worked really well.
  15. My mates just brought a set of these. I should get to try them out sometime this month.
  16. Actually I think it might only be a 434. Not sure I’ve seen it in 5 string.
  17. I quite the look of the 435 with maple fretboard, but the painted headstock just doesn’t look right on that neck IMO.
  18. Agreed. Wish i had got the burst finish now.
  19. Will do. I’ll make a new thread though, I don’t want to derail this one too much.
  20. Yep, and its getting this first gig tonight. Last time at this venue i had the RS212 and no Gramma pad. Ive now dusted the Gramma pad off for tonight. Very boomy stage.
  21. Exactly. No matter how good something is, if its not working for you it doesn't matter how well its rated. To be fair i felt the same about my BF BB2. Ive never said it wasn't a good cab, but it never worked for me in the same way the F112 didn't. Good, but not quite right. The F112 replaced a TC Electronics RS212. The F112 had a much better tone, but the RS212 cut it better at gigs. I guess a 212 is just better for me.
  22. Yep, totally get that. It's an amazing 1x12, but its still a 1x12. Ive gigged it twice. First time was a bit of a disaster as far as tone goes. It was never lacking volume as such, just voiced wrong for me. A lot of low end and upper clarity, but I couldn't find a good balance to give me a nicely voiced low/low mid. Because its a very clear cab i found i was playing at lower volumes than I normally do. Sounded great close up, always loud and punchy, but in all the recordings i made of rehearsals and gigs the bass was a bit quite at distances and didnt have the same punch and authority. I tired different heads, and different EQ's settings but in the end i just felt a 1x12 just wasnt for me. I prefer a 2x12 for the same reason as you. I was getting there by the end, but it was a struggle going to such a clear cab. . With the more voiced CN212 it just seems to fill out the tone with a thickness that the F112 couldn't get. To my ears (and the band) the CN212 fills gaps that the F112 left open. The F112 is deep sounding, and smoother up top, but these seem to overpower the lower mids. The CN212 doesnt have the extended low end, but this allows the low mids to be a bit clearer, which is what i wanted. Ironically the CN212 is easier to carry as well. The F112 is lighter, but not by much, and it only has one handle. I live on the 3rd floor os a black of flats, with no lift. That's a 6 flights of stairs each way, and then across the car park. The stage footprint isn't much different between the two, but the heft of a good 212 is defiantly missing in the F112. Less real low end, but no one really needs that, especially not on wooden stages. Ive been gigging for almost 30 years on and off, so I'm well aware some of this sounds like i didnt know what i was doing, but I'm simplifying my reply. As you know i got it off Bas. He also had a CN212. I tried my best with the F112 but i just couldn't get on with it. I traded it back for his CN212. He wanted the F112 and i needed something else. Both very happy.
  23. I've just traded my Fearless F112 for a Berg CN212 and couldnt be happier. Cant really compare it to any other cab in this class because ive not got a lot of experience with this class of cab, other than a Epifani UL212 that i hated.
  24. I came across this on FB. Not sure what to make of the 2024X
  25. I expect I'm going to be the first. Last night at rehearsal my Boss wireless system was playing up again. It's been sporadic and so far been fine at gigs, but ive lost conference in it. I think i need something more robust like a Smooth hound. Just working out the logistic of getting something like that, because the receiver will have to sit on the floor next to my Helix. I dont want to start using my pedal board again though.
