  1. Go on then! Yes, depending on final date, family commitments etc. Thanks for starting this up Paul.
  2. A few things to unpick. 3 tour managers? Separate sound guy for the vox and band? Joey W on drums! Bonehead in the touring band!
  3. Enjoyed Weezer (big warm p bass tone!), Rae, prodigy, Ezra collective, Nile playing greatest hits though he’s really getting on. Didn’t enjoy charlixcx, 1975, Rod (despite seeing my aunt on front row on bbc!), each to their own and plenty liked it. Some of these older acts fall into function band territory where the cheese takes over. It’s like they’re pretending to be their former self. Usual mix of good sound/bad sound and occasionally inaudible bass but it’s a festival! I’ll catch up on some others other the next few days.
  4. I’ve done this many times over the years. As long as you can place it in the overhead luggage rack if it gets busy you’ll be fine. Most of the time I’ve put it on an empty seat and no one batters an eyelid. Ive seen plenty of weird things that other people have brought onto a train. Some guy pushing a petrol driven lawnmower, someone with an old style apple iMac in a box they plugged in and worked from!
  5. I think a lot of it is mental, make a rehearsal as much like a gig as you can. Standing during rehearsal before a gig helps. Don’t face each other, throw a coat in the corner and say that’s your audience. If you’ve never done it, you’ll cut down on gaps between the songs, play with more energy, carry more confidence into the gig.

GAK only had overheads of one retail store rather than many up and down the country.

Yikes. I really hope the smaller manufacturers don’t get shafted, but they probably will. Tough time to be in big store retail isn’t it.
  8. I’d love to have an update. All gone quiet and I hope he’s ok.
  9. That’s a remarkable advert for many reasons.
  10. You wish you’d hired a better lawyer to negotiate your contract 30 years earlier!
  11. Poor Phil. I really really hope he gets himself out of this dark place and through to a more positive mindset. He sounds really low.
  12. I really like the finish! Glad you’ve found a keeper.
  13. There is a whole history section at Lego house in the basement. There is a section where you can view the complete catalogue year by year and select the models that you owned. I spent ages there! The room has loads of displays of the vintage sets. I agree that the new models aren’t quite as versatile as the originals, they’re still fun to build!
  14. It was a great holiday though. 52 danish krona for a one scoop ice cream in legoland. Ah joy. I picked up a few key rings as souvenirs, couldn’t afford anything else! The shop was worth a walk around. They had pretty much the whole catalogue to pick from. Lego house was the surprise, we loved it more than legoland. Just loads to do and plenty of nostalgia for the stuff I bought when I was growing up.
  15. Just trying to help! Have you tried fender? They make hundreds of products, they never list individual parts like this online but I bet it’ll be in a spares list somewhere. Best of luck.
  16. This is really cool, but tinged with the knowledge that I’d never be able to afford/justify it. I’m guessing the production version would be £300+. I love Lego but it’s getting pretty damn pricey. Visited Billund LEGOLAND and Lego house last week, amazing experience but most of the sets in the shop are £150+!
  17. My two sets of TI’s are are least 10 years old. They get an occasional wipe down and polish with fast fret but that’s it. I’ve got three sets of unopened round wounds that I’ve bought since from shops that I felt I should buy something from as they were helpful and let me try stuff. Dunno when they’ll get used. Might sell them actually…..
  18. Ask fender. There may be a spares email or tel you can contact, or they’ll make you go through a dealer.
  19. Thanks for the suggestions. I really want to stick below £150. Any more and I’d almost justify buying a new bass that has a bag included! I’ll look into these and buy something!
  20. I’ve been using a Levy’s gig bag that came with a lakland bass I bought about 20 years ago. The pockets have all disintegrated and the zips are on the way out. What’s the most comfortable, well protected, sturdy gig bag for max £150? My basses are all standard shapes, nothing pointy. I’ve seen the mono bags but wondered if there were just as good /good enough alternatives for around the same money or less. I don’t use it that often but want something good I can trust to last for years. Sadowsky porta bag? TKL? Any others I should look into?
  21. A bunch of reasons. Thomann may be sitting on some old stock they bought at a lower price than buying some today. Maybe they're overstocked and want to clear them out. Pmt are advertising full rrp without having any in stock to generate some interest, different distributors between uk and Germany, different buying power. I’d shoot pmt a message with the thomann link asking for their actual price. I’d expect them to come down a bit.
  22. Suppliers won’t be happy if that’s the case. Doubt they’ll supply the new co if this happens. it’s a horrible time for the staff, I’ve been there and it’s awful.
  23. I learnt to read using this book. There may be better options on the market now but it did the trick for me. I gave my copy away a few years but if I remember correctly, at least the first half is just reading rhythms only, no pitches. https://amzn.eu/d/3fZme6k
  24. I hope someone comes in and buys the business. New branch of guitar guitar maybe? £30m turnover is significant!
