5. Thanks - just watched it with my daughter... we're both in awe of Stevie's genius (much overused word). Also, the quote from Herbie Hancock (I think) that Stevie is "the pinnacle of what a human being can be" (or something like that) is just about the nicest comment about anyone, ever
6. If you want the valve amp sound in a lightweight package this is a great amp! Good luck with the sale and hope everything works out
7.
How about 400+ tone in a very heavy package.
I bet that sounds just awesome
8. Bought Pete's Markbass TTE500. Super guy to deal with. 100% honest in description of the amp which arrived in great condition, good communication, really rapid posting, well wrapped etc. We never met, as we're at opposite ends of the country, but he came across as a thoroughly nice guy and it was pleasure doing business with him
9. After my latest round of amp GAS I have decided to sell my GB ShuttleMax 12.0 Great amp that contains two pre-amps which allows you to mix FET and Tube signals but also two power amps (one for each speaker output) enabling you to get up to 1200W dependent on combination of speakers. Specs and photo below: http://www.genzbenz....&sid=610&cid=95 http://basschat.co.u...post__p__646498 It's in excellent condition, having mainly been used in the house. Comes with padded GB bag and GB footswitch. Price - [s]£650 including postage [/s] [s]offers in region of £600[/s] £500 for pick-up from London or Surrey (no trades, thanks)
10.
The TTE 500 has this presence. Honestly. I know it seems unlikely but try one.
Just have - it arrived today and sounds lovely. To my ears it's pretty close
11. good stuff folks - torn between two tracks but made a decision and they're now both neck and neck! (won't spoil it though) btw kudos for a great idea and may try to enter when my interface, Logic, talent etc. starts working
12. do you know what the cab weighs? Thanks
13.
At the moment I have a GB Shuttle 9.0 and a MB TTE500, both have thier good points and both are great amps, but I'm still looking for more.
interesting.... I'm considering MB TTE500 in search of tube amp tone. What is it that you think it is lacking?
14. Hmmm... from what I've read it seems like the Mesa Walkabout, Markbass TTE500 and GK Fusion 550 would get closest (...but no cigar) to what I'm looking for - thanks for your help! Only way to really find out is try them, so feel a bit of research coming on
15. Was going to mention Steve Hanley (The Fall) who I think is a great under-rated bass player, then found this via google... http://louderthanwar.com/top-15-great-bass-players/ ...which pitches him several places above Bootsy
16. Thanks - found a couple of articles on TB and an interesting quote (which I kind of suspected): "Your Bass 400+ is at the all-time pinnacle of bass amps, so forget ever trying to replicate its tone." Links below to help others: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f15/mesa-boogie-bass-400-a-918437/ http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f15/compare-mesa-walkabout-mesa-m-pulse-600-mesa-400-fender-pro-300-a-613872/
17. Yes, it's the short scale. Decided to upgrade pre-amp to the EQ01 and really looking forward to playing around with the dual filters
18. I still miss my Mesa 400+... although not the weight (sure you've heard that line several times before!) Interested in whether it is possible to get a similar rich clean valve-y tone from a less back-breaking amp. As well as being blooming heavy, the 400+ seemed to give a 'weight' to the notes that I haven't experienced with other amps Wondering if a less heavy Mesa (walkabout or similar?) or GK Fusion / Fusion 550 or something else could get close?
