1.
tonyf, I don't suppose I could trouble you for an overall height measurement of the Sony receiver including any items that protrude beyond the casing (like the knobs? It's difficult to tell from the photos)? If it can be squeezed into a 1U rack space, this might be the one for me.
Be my pleasure as soon as I've got home later and have had chance to set it up and have a play.
 2.
You're a very restrained man Tony. New toy to play with and you didn't give it a bash?!
Believe me, it wasn't easy mate. Had a band get together last night and Mrs TF (and TF junior) wouldn't have been that impressed with my late night wireless bass playing. Frothing at the bit so it'll get a "good going over" later, rest assured!
 3. Sorry I'm late to this. Russ has been invaluable in advising me on wireless recently. I've used a Sennheiser EW172 for years and it's been like a tank. Ultra reliable and great sounding. However, trying to rationalise my gear further to lose the rack, I've just order a Sony DWZ-B30GB on Russ's recommendation to go digital. Fantastic price at the moment from Thomann (http://www.thomann.de/gb/sony_dwz_b30gb_guitar_set.htm). As Russ pointed out, it takes up SOOOO little space, that it can be either velcro'd into your rack or, as I'm doing, put onto the pedal board and run off the 9v power from the brick. I'm doing the latter as I want to lose the rack that I've currently got with my head and wireless in a 4U. Should be landing today or tomorrow so I'll post up some views when I've had chance to try it out.
 4.
Don't convince me to keep it man, I need the cash!
lol ;-)
 5.
Thanks! I've never been a fan of multi-effects, but this one really impressed me. I just realised that I was only really using two or three of the effects, so it was a bit overkill!
This was the main reason why I changed mine for an M9, felt I was only scratching the surface of it but I've since realised that having the larger scenes makes it a little easier than having to "bank" select between smaller scenes on the M9. Line 6 obviously spent a lot of time on the M series, the effects are epic.
 6. Awesome unit. I had one of these up until 6 months ago when I "downsized" to an M9 to save some space on my pedal board. Really wish I hadn't as I miss the functionality of the bigger unit. Have a bump for a fantastic bit of kit.

 8.
Sorry Tony... I know one day you are going to stop talking to me. Got those strings yet?
<BLANK FAR AWAY LOOK> Yes. Strings. I ...must .....buy .... strings.
 9. EBS_Freak used his Jedi mind tricks yesterday and there's a Sony DWZ-B30GB currently winging it's way over the channel from Thomann. Bargain deal, £180 quid. This will replace my racked up tried and trusted Sennheiser EW172 which has been a faithful and reliable servant over the years. It'll be sad to see it go but it'll be nice to have something small and compact on my pedal board rather than in the rack (which will now be retired). T
 10. Blimey. That's a blast from the past. I can remember being subscribed in the mid 90's. At the time, it was great. Bass stuff into my work inbox every day. Seemed so exotic to be talking to people the other side of the world about bass shizzle. Happy days. Do I get an "old skool early internet days bass nerd" type award?
 11. I've had a Berg CN212 for the last 6 months and I've gotta say it's spectacular. I've owned and played through an awful lot of cabs in the past and this is easily the best cab I've used. As with the other alternatives, I've not compared them so maybe a trip to Bass Direct to see for yourself. In that price bracket, there's not really a "best", more a "best for you". Agreed with Musicman20 though, the NX2 is a fantastic deal for the price. T
 12.
I've reported the Gumtree advert as fraudulent using the eBay sale in September as evidence.
Good job buddy.
 13. In my limited experience with another problem sale, Gumtree seem to be quite willing to investigate suspect sales if there's supporting evidence of shannagans. Maybe worth reporting it.
 14. Good spot sir Lol. Yep every I speak to Funkle Dave, he tells me I should be getting a Bongo. When someone that good tells you to try something, it's probably worth trying.
 15. I've recently taken the Status flats off my bitsa PJ with EMGs (http://basschat.co.u...48#entry1307348). Sounded fantastic. Real "old skool" Motown tone when wound onto the P pickup. That characteristic EMG punch and clarity but tempered by the inherent mellowness of the flats. Loads of thump but no lack of articulation. In fact, damn it. I'm gonna put them back on.
 16.
OK, I can't resist. Here's my orange one. Juicy!
Lordy, that is spectacular. My mate's got a couple of Bongos and is always trying to convert me. As he's left handed and I'm "NORMAL", it's not as if I can play his so I've yet to try one. The function band's themed colour is Orange and one of these would be just fit the bill ;-)
 17.
With all that is going on with the Pixies, even I am expecting the call up....!
Think they've found someone already though. http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/news/arts-entertainment/kay-burley-unveiled-as-new-pixies-bassist-2013121382019
 18. Oh lordy. What a spectacular bass! That is VERY special.
 19. Count me in. I'd be up for that. Sound's like a good plan to blow a Saturday night.
 20. Hi Russ, yes, we were at the Roadhouse. Pity you couldn't have come, we would have had 5 people watching us! lol With the in-house PA, despite having the IEMs with us, it was just way too much grief to try and get the engineer to setup our monitoring through the IEMs. Pity, it was a real jolt to go back to "old skool" monitoring and really missed using the buds despite only having used them for the last half dozen gigs. Amazing how quickly you get used to something so good.
 21.
If you are a vocalist, it's the best. Defo. I hate singing without them now - the only thing that can catch you out as a vocalist is that because you hear yourself so loud in your ears, you tend to lay off the mic a bit... so especially on your lead singers, do a thorough soundcheck so they get used to singing on the mic and tailor the mix so they don't back off the mic... if you get what I mean.
Good call, hadn't thought about that but I can understand it completely. I've noticed that I've stood a little further back from the mic over the past couple of gigs because I can sooooo much more hear myself now. Obviously what's going out front may well be a different picture to the mix in the IEMs so as ever, we'll probably concentrate on the out front mix firstly to get happy with the mix and then do the monitor mixes to taste. Until we upgrade the desk, we're still limited by outs so we're splitting Fiddy and Jo into their own mix off the one transmitter and then me and Paul (and Dave through the headphone out) on the other transmitter will share the other mix. I think the vocalists always tend to rely on heavily vocal heavy mixes through the front wedges so there shouldn't be that much difference for them. Anyway, we'll be able to tweak it to suit within the sound check and first couple of tunes.
 22. All the buds have come in this week so tonight's gig at my work's xmas party will be the first Second City Soul gig done completely with the IEMs. Quite excited! For me, Paul the guitarist, Dave the drummer and Brian the keyboard player, we've already had a couple of gigs under our belts with the erm IEM's attached to our belts. It's been such a step forward. I'm so excited for Fiddy and Jo as this will be the first show for them with IEMs. It'll probably take a little adjustment but I'm expecting the same jaw-drop smile that me and Paul had a couple of shows ago. Quite excited. Oh, did I say that already? lol
 23.
Just to prove that it exists!
Hubba hubba #IEMperving
