    I focus this in an alternative way. I don’t need a new bass to get better at X. This bass is better at being a bass than I am at playing it. It is I would need to get better at X. for X substitute “timing”, “note choice”, “showmanship”, “talent” or bete-noire du jour

    I teach my daughter guitar. I get to play bass whilst helping her keep time and she’s genuinely happy to play along with someone, it’s what I lacked when learning If you can avoid puking, why not play chords for him to play along with. ?

    I was actually born in clacton on sea. I’ve never lived there in Essex though aside from a two-year sentence in Chelmsford (education, not prison, though there were some similarities)
