  1. I stand corrected though my point holds
  2. I know guy pratts bass Betsy was discovered to be made from plywood in his book. like I said, if it sounds good, play it till it breaks
  3. There’ll be a sanding sealer/filler sprayed on the contour to disguise the exposed rough ends of the ply - that’s why Conmon with plywood bodies on 90s Korean strats
  4. I think it makes a tiny difference, having tried it, but I’m not sure that the difference is worth the ££
  5. I can’t find him via search, or the @ can someone post his username ?
  6. The dark paint over the forearm contour is a dead giveaway that it’s not great wood HOWEVER as we all know wood contributes little to the sound of electric bass 🍿 so if it sounds good, totally play it till it breaks
  7. You’ve taken up weaving ?
  8. yes, I shall repay it through the medium of “baseball bat” artfully combined with location of “dark alley”. Or I could just sit in his empty “open mic (as long as it’s not a bass)” night and watch
  9. Tried messaging him but got a fail that he doesn’t accept messages
  10. Is k10gon still making them ? Or does anyone else ? I’d like a replacement p bass with grease bucket and a no load tone pot thanks
  11. @ahpook I went to the bowling green, in Ashby de La zouche it was raucous and wild. I didn’t play as I had to do shopping after (rock and roll!) but chatted to the house band and host. Found them on a Facebook group called “open mics midlands” Host invited me to message him some choices so house band can do homework. Runs every two weeks on a Thursday. Said they have lots of guitarists and drummers but bass players are quite rare. One lady did a storming version of two Motown songs
  12. I think he is drawing our attention to software that might infringe our privacy in the name of advertising. I’ve seen his posts for many years and he seems pretty sane so other than slight amusement at Dwayne’s name, I don’t see an issue here ?
  13. I have a metric ton of these Pm me with your needs
  14. Yep don’t listen to him, it’ll be donkey 😛
  15. F c u k
  16. I played the classic 50s model, which is basically the red one and that was superb
  17. Not at all - improvising is much easier than you think. I’ve got small children and get to a jam night once a month max. I’ve not practiced in years as kids and diy mountain don’t allow. At @How1 also I got thrown in the deep end by a rude OM night host (just this Friday gone) who wouldn’t even tell me what song was next. I had to work it out, google the chords and come up with something, really quickly. Luckily there are sone basic rules about what works and I swam, sort of, rather than sank. I expected to sink, as you do. If you read my started threads, the story is there where are you located ? Either of you that is?
  18. I hear from a Facebook group that there is an OM night where “keyboards have been spotted, so maybe bass is fine” (tr: I’m less likely to get lynched for instrument based non conformity) this Thursday at Stamford arms in groby, Leicestershire I shall report back
  19. I can’t say that anything much in the last 15 years of theirs has seemed much beyond a rehash of older work, or on the same theme. They’re just a karaoke machine, other bands fall into the same class imho, not singling them out they might release “new” work, but I’m not sure anyone goes to their gigs to hear it as Cato says
  20. Actually no, I changed my mind. Can they please go away.
  21. Way past their creative best, can I suggest they enjoy some time off in their retirement?
  22. A metal one. What are you, a guitarist ? Fibreglass vehicles are rubbish in a crash
  23. I would not sand anything off, just buy a replica neck, get it sprayed to match the current one’s laquer and add your logo of choice. really bad idea to do irreversible changes to something with innate and accumulating value
  24. Flats, zoom tube preamp I sound checked with groove is in the heart
