  1. Discussions about price are supposed to be by personal message only
  2. He probably absorbed it from the multi cultural hotspot he grew up in. He played with black musicians for years. Like my accent it probably comes and goes depending who he is with and what he is doing. I don’t think he’s putting it on
  3. It is, but what I found was that I could flit between the two without fiddling around. A jazz style bass can get close with bass / para mid/treble
  4. My rule of thumb is John mcvie in the chain
  5. Ok can highly recommend sire v7 /5 there’s a green one listed now in marketplace
  6. Possibly - it was a reference to Pink Floyd and another Brick in the wall. The shouting teacher says it
  7. WTAF ? is he a spy who really didn’t do the homework before going out on an assignment? 🤷‍♂️
  8. No instrument becomes more road-worn in your care. Barely even gets warm … 😛
  9. As @ghostwheel says. Please last line of post 1. then go to the back of the class and write “I must pay attention” in italics 100 times. And no pudding for you…
  10. Go on, this is The Precious, and it’s your birthday #gollum

  12. @Lozz196 I really enjoyed that, (hated the original) with the two singers giving it their all -the guy is hitting most of the same notes as the young lady is.
  13. If @ghostwheel you had experienced my moment of joy at the discovery of two iconic bass sounds in one nice instrument you would not call me a rationalist These are my settings, switch set to passive, three knobs to right are the active control (my p bass approximation) hope this helps someone two knobs to left are jazz bass approximation (tone is stacked on volume)
  14. Why take two basses when you only need one?
  15. The battery went flat (my fault) and I wanted to check active mode worked after putting new batteries in I knew that the passive mode does a fairly good jazz bass sound but switching to active with it’s totally separate tone control (para mid eq plus treble plus bass) you can get a fairly good p bass tone. the levels are about the same, so I can switch the two sounds instantly using the active switch and it’s a 5
  16. Or a cloth
  17. Try waving a magnet around, particularly in corners
  18. Could I please hold fire on payment until I see how the employment thing pans out ? Happy with 13£ though
  19. I have one of these and it’s very good. I don’t fiddle with the controls much, tending to leave it in passive mode in the usual 60:40 jazz pup mix but I do like the string spacing
  20. I just use a zoom b2
  21. #spiritofbasschat -always innovating @ped cheque please
  22. If you were using a capo would you need the low B? otherwise agree 100%
  23. Let me tell you a story … years ago I tried 5 string and I totally didn’t get it. I sold that aria magna 5 i bought a sire v7 5 and it just worked … but my thoughts also changed to what actually worked don’t buy a 5 string expecting to use those low notes, that opportunity will be vanishingly rare use that low string only when you realise that you’d need to use open strings on a four string example : teenaged dirtbag e a b a using open strings it is a muting nightmare but playing accross from fret 5 of b string, it is not and you can easily shift up or down to suit the singer
  24. I echo this as I have been fortunate enough to hold one of these marvellous creations @Jabba_the_gut you might also like the work of @Simo
  25. Especially if that something is a belt 👍
