  1. 😮‍💨that was a close one …
  2. They are at j25 m1, John lives near me at j22
  3. Suggest you try Turners, which is about 200 miles closer than East Sussex and if they cannot help you I’ll put you in touch with John. Edit: https://share.google/XD1SRdoo5dTYW1dTo recently he saw my acoustic bass from about 20 feet away and said it needed more bow. He was right #blackmagic very helpful and knowledgeable chap
  4. There is one in beeston, Nottingham thats a lot closer. “Turner violins” I know for certain that they do double bass - fairly close to m1 junction Failing that I know a double bass luthier in Coalville who may be able to help you or at least signpost you. he built his own cello from raw lumber … ✨🤷‍♂️ knowing him he’ll probably make you a magical one out of five lolly sticks and some glue that will survive nuclear holocaust
  5. FTFY edit: and you’ll save on heating costs
  6. I’d like one but think I’ll have to go EUB for space reasons
  7. I read somewhere that JT learned “chucking” from Bernard Edward’s and that this technique uses the nail to get a pick like sound?
  8. She sells sanctuary? Blinding tune to play if you embellish the middle eight
  9. What if theyre vintage? Or made of tone-plastic, or fender-badged? Surely they would be truly magical from the moment of manufacture and defy all reasonable expectations from first use? ✨
  10. I’m joking about @paul_5 gazumping @Rosie C….. I did add an emoticon
  11. You don’t even know her partner. You may not be his type. 😛
  12. Eldest has moved on from being a guitard and I want this vile thing out of my house £2 postage, £5 to basschat or collect in coalvile if you’re feeling brave/suicidal (either works)

      • Haha
  13. Optional toast rack?
  14. Passive-mode sire v7 with my zoom b2’s ampeg patch and quite loud. The active patch doesn’t sound as good - lady who runs the OM pulled a face at active mode, confirming what I myself thought
  15. @police squad
  16. That’s interesting. For me the string spacing made the difference between a keeper and a “for sale” sign
  17. It looks very much like the bigger rounded 70s style - which I much prefer aesthetically. Obvious it would be preferable not attached to a guitar …
  18. It will be harder for them to come back and pinch it nothing bass-related as no one here understands bass. Eldest D is pictured playing a @Prosebass 5 at about three years old and twanging a jap jazz bass at around eight months but that’s the closest I got
  19. What if it’s vintage tonewood? 🍿 I’m also assuming that a longer g string screw on the bridge saddle makes it sound different also
  20. Big headstock strat, approve of that
  21. I bought an Ibanez srx 5 and it was so wide that it was painful to play. I gave up on 5s then I bought a sire v7/5 which is very tightly spaced and it is almost capable of playing itself. my philosophy for 5 is this: 1. don’t try and use the b 2. if something can be played more easily using the B above fret 4 then do it. There are no prizes for making your life harder, suffering is not a virtue 3. avoid open strings by using the B - no open E, play across from B, fret 5 you have to know what you want from your 5 in order to be able to get its best value
  22. I’d look to spend a bit more on a sire v7/5 the string spacing makes a bass work for you or not IME
  23. Thanks @Rosie C gutted as I did really well for a change and the lady hostess told me I “smashed it”. Pub is quiet Jan and feb so first one is March. It’s the only really local one around me
  24. I don’t have my usual one in coalvile again until March
  25. I’m thinking of dipping a toe into EUB What strings do they use? TY
