  1. Now £575 including overnight shipping (in an ABS hard case) in the UK
  2. Hi Stef, sorry I missed this - I’m not really looking for trades but if it’s something really interesting... please just pm i thought this had sold for the third time yesterday - it didn’t work out again!
  3. This for me but it only really works in context
  4. If the strings are just dirty rather than old/knackered/dead, I've found that a really useful and easy method of cleaning is the use of micellar cleansing wipes. These are available at pretty much any pharmacy/cosmetics store or supermarket. I use the Simple brand as they're not perfumed in any way. I even leave the strings on the bass. De-tension a little then a few slow, firm wipes up and down each string (you may wish to protect the fretboard with something, though the wipes aren't wet, more damp). Lovely bright and clean strings in a couple of minutes. I also use surgical spirit (strings off the bass!) if strings are really dirty. Again, a simple and effective fix, though surgical spirit is in very short supply at the moment
  5. Wow, absolutely fantastic price for an instrument of this quality (IMO). Stunning top and for anybody that hasn't played a Spector, the US instruments (again IMO) are up with there with the quality of anything in production today. The solidity, fit, finish and playability are utterly world-class
  6. Just another bump as this has been hanging around for ages. I thought it had sold (twice) but things didn't work out as we might have hoped on both occasions. A really lovely bass at a bargain price (IM0). I'll amend the original ad as I now have a hard case and box for shipping.
  7. I think it says a great deal that I'm writing this very positive comment on a recent deal with Andy on p6 of his feedback. Each page is a glowing testament to this man's credibility, integrity and good nature. This is a very good man (with immense talent to boot). Our most recent deal (there have been many) involved the delivery of a case. As ever, the transaction was faultless and the item is in much better condition than I'd thought. This titan of BC even delivered personally on a Sunday afternoon. Legend.
  8. Just been involved in a trade with Martin - I couldn't be happier with any element of the deal. Really friendly, great conversations (phone and on-line), and a brilliant bass in superb condition. Packaging was amazing and Martin went right out of his way to get the bass to me quickly. Definitely most highly recommended - a fabulous pillar of our community!
  9. Lovely - enjoyed the clip - a classic tone combination. The amp appears to record extremely well (you'd sort of expect that)
  10. That chestnut is outstanding! I had an MG5 with a similar top but the figuring on yours is exquisite
  11. Really lovely - I've been very impressed with Ale - some exquisite woodworking and fantastic quality of timbers
  12. Thanks Dood, absolutely wonderful - thanks for taking the time to do this. I’ve watched but will operationalise my learning this morning. Basschat at its best! Thank you
  13. Utterly lovely - I've had a couple of LG4s and they were wonderful (I just don't really play Js)
  14. I probably shouldn't find that image exciting, but I do!
  15. I'd be very interested in this too Dood if you don't mind publishing (and it's not derailing the thread) - cheers!
  16. My go to bass for pretty much everything - superb build, great core tone and stellar playability. The OBP3 works superbly well in these. A very good price IMO
  17. On a personal note, this saddens me nearly as much as it must do you Andy. If I could afford to keep it in the family, I'd surely do so: should circumstances shift then it would be available to you again. Alas, my spending (of the bank's money) has been somewhat reckless in recent months. More generally, to anybody considering this, it is an instrument of very unusual quality. Of course, it's a premium instrument and expectations should be high. However, in my opinion, this is that near perfect bass that appears very rarely - a fortuitous concatenation of materials, specs, experienced craft-work and ageing that has delivered the golden specimen. I'm wiping away a tear here...
  18. I’d concur with those recommending MJT - superb bodies with deep early Fender-type contouring. I had a Candy Tangerine relic (sold on here recently) - everything about the body (spray, relicing, woodworking) was excellent - seem like very nice guys too
  19. I can attest that this is an absolutely beautiful bass and a perfect example of an iconic model. It plays flawlessly and sounds exactly as one would imagine!
  20. I couldn't agree more - that is just gorgeous!
  21. Wow, very dinky and very beautiful!
  22. I'm a big fan and user of Laklands but the bridge on the new models is one of my least favourites. The 1930 looks ok and I'm sure it will play very well but as others have indicated, the quality claim is a concern - Spector, Alembic and many others might have an argument
  23. Eeek! A banquet of delights
