2.
I can understand why they wouldn't become regulars, maybe look in occasionally as a guest or look at it on someone else's computer but not get directly involved. Irrespective of all the squabbling, to the really well known players it's a job and has been for many years. Do all of us with regular day jobs go home and then log on to user forums so directly related to what we do every day for a living? Not me.
Bit off beam mate, that. Most pro players wouldn't see their "job" in the same way a refuse collector would see theirs? Pro players didn't go to a job centre and get offered a job as a bass player and go home thinking "sh*t I hate this job!", well apart from orchestral players that is Anyone making a living from the arts almost certainly would want to discuss their art medium with others quite regularly. There are plenty of pro players on BC.
  3.
Really Famous? That's a list of people who nobody apart from other bass players would have ever heard of. I'm not disputing any of their respective talents on the instrument (even the ones I've never heard of) but I very much doubt if even they would regard themselves as "Really Famous".
Look, there is only one REALLY FAMOUS bass player anyway, and that is Mark King v Flea.
  4.
No, this is the mayonnaise that was played by the late Dijon Entwistle. It's a very similar model to Hellmans.
yes good, as you say in your country entwistel was the mustard! in this case i am very temptated by the mayonnaise. i would like to see the picture and video you has plese.
  5. I want a lightweight but durable Jazz Bass Hard Case. Should I get a Hiscox? I really fancied a Fender tweed one, but they are stupid prices for what looks like a weak and not very protective case. And where is a good place to buy one? ie. good price, quick delivery. Thank you
  6.
I have Mayonnaise for trade now, picked it up in a deal. May have to scrape it off face first. You said in your OP that you would be interested in a trade? Would you like to see pictures? (also have video)
actually, i did read a reeiw of the mayonnaise and it says it is a good bass is it the one played by jonas hellmans? if it is this one i am instristed

  8.
I really enjoyed the Overwater feature and the Stu Hamm interview, other than that not a great issue, but still better than nothing (or BP )
I really enjoyed the Led Bib interview (never even heard of them) and the Overwater feature. But by christ I am getting sick and tired of almost all reviews ending in "PLUS: Fantastic bass with great tones and build quality. MINUS: The cost might put some people off! SCORE: 4 out of 5 stars". It's completely useless to the readers, pointless, damn lazy and bloody irritating.

  10. Not my preferred listening or bass style, but f***, that geezer seriously funks that sh*t up! Great playing and great musicality!
  11.
Has it got Sims?
no it is all real my friend.
  12. This is still the best fretless electric bass I have heard, but I never really liked Jaco so that may explain it.
  13.
I love his playing with UZEB but I've always found his solo stuff to be very "fuzak".
I'm sorry but his intonation is all over the place, even on the very simple melodies, sharp most of the way through which could be explained by the monitoring or something, but there are no excuses for the awful intonation in the solo section about halfway though. It has completely set my teeth on edge and I need a cup of tea and a rollup now.

    Jap MIJ
From what I understand about Japanese Fenders, that's a bit odd. Apparently Made In Japan denotes a bass built by Fujigen Gakki, who built most Jap Fenders from 1982 - 1997, and CIJ denotes those built by other factories, notably Tokai Gakki & Dyna Gakki. I understood it was only Fujigen who used MIJ. Wikipedia Blurb. Seems this might not be right, then! Jon.
I was reading a page the other day explaining why some instruments have both on, but I can't find it.

  21. It depends on the gig, but money is the last thing on my mind with music, I only do it for pleasure. That's why I decided a long time ago to get a decent day job and only play music I want to play.
  22. I used to play metal and rock. I moved to electro, pop and dance music. Never looked back. It's so nice to see happy, smiling and dancing audiences rather than miserable leather-clad tattooed gits standing still with the "impress me" look and folded arms
  23.
Sounds cool. How would that work? Through the pa?
Yes, I DI (single channel via an XLR) into the PA and get some bass through the monitors. Although, at one or two small gigs, there are not many monitors so I have to compromise occasionally and not hear myself very well. An option I considered was to get a monitor like a Mackie SRM, but I can't be arsed to carry that bugger about on the off chance I might need it. It depends on the sort of gigs you do I suppose. I've never had or wanted a bass amp. The only thing with the POD is to make sure you level balance your patches and not go overboard with the low freqs in your eq. There's a headphone out on it to do that. I have a titchy studio so I do it all on the monitors via my desk, it's like a mini PA. You can configure the POD X3 LIVE in loads of ways and there is very little you can't connect to it, or connect it to. Tons of options. I do lots of gigs in London and can get to anything by public transport with a bass and my POD on my shoulders. Wickid!
