1. I would only ever do it if I could replicate the neck dimensions of something that already exists that I loved the feel of. The neck is the most important thing. The rest is pretty much easy to sort. I love very shallow Fender Jazz necks, and the current German Warwick necks which are exactly like very shallow Fender Jazz necks but with a flatter radius.
 2. My $$ is an amazing bass and been my main bass for about three years. It's amazing player, sounds, construction, quality, etc. I just fancy a change though. Selling my Corvette fretless too. It's plain daft though that you are afraid of using it for its intended purpose. Getting out of bed in the morning presents all sorts of risks to your person too, as does staying IN bed. But you still have to get out your house even if you run the risk of getting knocked down by a skip lorry, being dive-bombed by a rogue sparrowhawk, or being raped by a football presenter. You will get very little back for your investment, SH Warwick prices are terrible. What I've let mine go for is very sad, but I'm cool with it because I will get a new bit of beautifully painted wood with some strings on it. Use it, enjoy it, make incredible sounds with it. Or sell it and buy a Squier and a pair of new shoes with the cash you get for it.
 3. Well, mine are both now on hold for BCers. I will still have my Electra build with the Warwick neck. I am swapping two active German Corvettes, a $$ and a Standard Ash fretless for one of these http://www.fenderjapan.co.jp/jb66b.html Yes, maybe I am mad, but I will stop at nothing to get it! You will probably see it in a for sale thread in six months
 4.
Not if I just hadn't had to tax/MOT/insure the bloody car I'd love a fretless Warwick but times are hard...
I just had a very expensive MOT nightmare too. I feel for you mate !
 5.
Really lovely bass! Stupidly low price as well. Best of luck with the sale.
Thanks mate, appreciated.
 6.
You're gonna regret this Nigel..... I regret selling mine already, stupidly good basses for the cash. I honestly don't think you can do better for the money.
Nah, I won't regret it mate. I have have my Warwick-necked Electra remember! I want a white Jap Fender Jazz to be its bitch Seriously, I have been playing the fretless recently and although it seems a musicianly thing to do, I really only play it because I feel I should.
 7.
I don't think i have ever seen so much ignorance and jealousy in a single thread. It's up to the owner whether they keep or sell their custom bass. It's no-one else's business. Davo
Bad day? It must have been, because none of what you have just said is true or makes any sense.
 8.
I WANT IT! That paint job is sexy. Hope it's still here next week! Truckstop
It's a Warwick mate, it will be here in six f***ing months
 9.
You're flogging your Warwick to get a Fender?!?!?! for the love of all thats good in the world, dont do it!!!!
Both of them actually. There is a Jap Fender Jazz that I MUST have.
 10. Warwick Corvette Standard Ash Active Fretless (2009 German) This is a beautiful player and it sounds lovely, lots of classic fretless tones, mwah etc. I need to sell to get my dream Fender Jazz. The neck is super shallow flat oval like a Geddy Lee sig Jazz. Has LaBella black nylon Tapewounds on. Active 2 way MEC pre amp, SC Dynamic Correction pups. Ash body, 3 piece ovangkol neck, highly polished tigerstripe ebony board. The reason I want a lower than usual price is because I refinished it in antique white. It's a decent job, but it's not perfect. It has the odd ding where the neck bolts are on the back which I have tried to show in the pics and it's worn off by the forearm area angles. It's a little bit mojoed in other words. No other issues, I have gigged and recorded with it and it's super. I bought this new in honey stain last year from Thomann. No case comes with this so £360 collected from Ealing, west London. Thanks.
 11.
So yeah, Sharay Reed. I love how he commits to some pretty crazy playing - pushing the boundaries to the limit but always staying on the ONE and doing his job. He is BASS.
Interesting you say that because he often phases across the bar line, particularly the long fill you like so much. Thanks for reminding me of this vid though, I just watched it again for the first time in a while. The drummer's good too. My fave bit is at 0.22 where the keyboard modulates the key into major on one chord (possibly a minor 3rd to a major 3rd - I'm probably talking sh*t ) and the bass stays minor, it's a beautiful thrilling musical moment for me.
 12.
Yeah,Sharay has been mentioned a few times on here. I've got to be honest though,I'm not particularly keen on the whole 'Gospel Chops' thing.
I'm not either, it's all a bit shady and exclusive and a lot of these people sound mechanical, like they just learned the moves. A bit like these people who come out of our contemporary music schools, a lot of them LOOK like they can play, but no MUSIC comes out of them for some reason. BUT Sharay is fabulous. He loves what he's doing too. Crazykiwi turned me onto him a couple of years ago. Mind you, what he does is not that hard, but because he has been doing it for so long it's just totally natural sounding, it's a true expression of himself. He has music in his soul.
 13.
IMO, lovely, but the MIJ basses are getting to silly high prices now. Ive had one, and it was a belter, but id not go so far as to say it was as good as a MIA, (obviously a good MIA) and nowadays the prices are getting very close. Back when I bought mine, the MIJ was probably the equivalent price of a MIM.
Damn right G. I sold the gorgeous Oly White RI P-Bass I bought off you last year for £400 on here. I could probably ask for £550 today. What the hell happened?
 14.
I'll be playing at a special jam session tomorrow night (Wednesday 26th Jan) in honour of Andy Falconer. He's the guy who originally ran the jam at The King's Head in Acton (which subsequently moved to The Drayton Court in West Ealing) and he's the guy who first put me up on stage with a bass in my hands. Unfortunately he has terminal cancer, so all his former jamming regulars are taking over the upstairs function room at The King's Head tomorrow night for a special session. A fair number of these guys are well-known session musicians (people like Sam Kelly and Chester Kamen) so the standard of playing is sometimes very high indeed. And then there's me, of course. If you're interested in an unusual and varied evening's entertainment, come along. There are something like EIGHT bands playing in three hours, and virtually the entire audience will comprise musos, making it one of the friendliest environments imaginable. My band is up first at 8:30pm. I'm also filming & recording the event, so I'll be at the pub from about 7:30pm to set up. http://kingsheadacton.com/
I will be there fella! Looking forward to it. Cheers!
 15.
I'm so glad you've got your eye on something Nige. I was sorely tempted to offer my Jazz in trade but I think the wife would kill me
Surely not! It's now on hold for Jam anyway. Cheers mate, N
 16.
OH GOD if I could afford this I'd be all over it :/ Bump for you though, that's a gorgeous bass. *Edit* The more I look at this, the more I consider selling some of my other basses to get this one. Someone else buy it quick!!
Thanks mate.
 17.
I feel your pain, I'm trying to sell my Thumb BO5 at the moment and there's hardly been any interest (I've had two firm offers, one pulled out and the other involves a trade with another Warwick, which I want to move away from). I've knocked it down to £750 and still not had any more interest. That's an insane price for a bass that costs nearing £2000 new, even from Thomann. If it were a Fender, they'd be going 2nd hand for £1.5kish.
Yeah, I'm with you brother. I think most musicians are pretty traditional to be honest. And this Fenders holding their value better reinforces this sorry circle. Unlike Jack, I think buying a Fender one hasn't actually played is a total lottery. Whereas a with a Wick you can be resonably sure of what you will receive.
 18. Good answers so far, thank you
 19.
If its any consolation I too lust after a B&B necked Jazz, and its not only Warwick prices that are stoopid low. Didn't a 5'er Ray in great nick with original hard case sell on here for only £600 last week.?? I am looking to offload a whole load of gear soon, both amps and cabs ( Trace/EA/Ampeg ) and basses ( Overwater/ possibly my 77 Ray ) but AND IT PAINS ME TO SAY THIS, I won't be selling them on here until prices get more realistic. If Ebay is offering more realistic prices, I'll be selling there. Unfortunately. Be strong, I realise my B&B lust is maybe cosmetic so I might well buy a cheapy to get over it............then again I may sell everything and get Sei / Overwater to build me a Super Jazz !!!!!!!!!!! As you see, you don't have the sole rights to fickle.........ask any of our long suffering partners how many times they have heard us say "this is the one, I'll keep it forever" when trying to justify a bass purchase. It goes with the territory. As does baldness and goaty beards. Go with your heart............ Stewart
I'm with you there mate, I too am definitely looking at ebay. BC prices are weird at the moment. I think Fender prices on here are vastly inflated, but much more reasonable on the bay.
 20.
NIGEL, DO NOT SELL THE WARWICKS! YOU'VE BEEN HERE BEFORE. IT'S JUST GAS AND IT WILL SUBSIDE. YOU ARE BEING A TOOL! Is that alright? I seem to remember you buying a Pat something jazz bass not so long ago, but then picked up the black corvette and fell in love with it again and subsequently sold the Jazz, says a lot. I haven't a clue why secondhand Warwicks command so little. Especially as they're going for less than brand new Rockbasses, which although good aren't German made Warwicks. Maybe sell the fretless if you don't play it much, but not the black one. I'm in danger of rambling, I'll stop
I know, I know, I know. Fact is, I adore the neck on my best mate's Jap Power Jazz, it's like the Geddy Lee sig and I believe the Jap RIs too, I want those neck dimensions in my hands. I just do. Can't explain it mate. But thanks for the kind words
 21.
I must admit it does seem that you are, with respect, a bit of a Warwick fanboi. Nothing wrong with that, they're great instruments as you say - just not for me. But what I don't understand is why, if you love them so, are you defecting to the other side?? If you love your Warwick, don't sell it. Play it, and spread the word! Perhaps you can help drive the resale value back up a bit (Edited for typo)
But I want a Jap Fender RI with a B&B neck. I can't understand why. I have wanted one for ages. I got a bonus at work and to my huge surprise and deep disappointment my normally faultless car ate it all in the MOT last month. All my cash went towards it, so the Wicks are going. I know what I'm like, I will probably sell the Fender in six months time. Fickle f***er, that's me. My dream is to have a lifelong relationship with a bass, but I doubt whether it is possible with my personality :*(
