1. His bass lines just seem to blossom, so rich in their expression, I think he'll be one of the great prog-pop bassists, if he gets the chance at longevity.
 2.
Good call man. Off to Amazon....
Superb! I love it when great new bands' music actually gets BOUGHT Thanks mate.
 3. Jeremy Pritchard - Everything Everything He's wonderful! He sounds occasionally angsty, sometimes smooth as silk, truly empathic with the songs and their intent, and he has a few Chris Squire moments. Playful, melodic, rhythmic and polyrhythmic, lovely nuances, accents and phrasing, great sense of harmony with the vocals in mind, sits in the arrangement beautifully, and above all exhibits great taste, expression and intelligence. Everything I want to hear in a bassist. I love the guy! Favourite songs (at the moment, I love the whole album) are Come Alive Diana (the one that boreslave Kitty Empire said didn't work), and My Kz, Yr Bf .. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUq7tbuH00E
 4. I get some runtime error sh*t when I try to complete my order
 5.
Hopefully he'll see the 'Blur' (@ the Brits) thread and let Albarn read it and sort that mess out! P.s. Great to have another iconic bass player joining the ranks... Prepare for a scrabble when he starts posting in the 'for sale' section!
That seems to be the reason most members join now, it IS the best For Sale section in the entire world isn't it! That's why I don't go there any more. I got ped to remove my access to it Then I went to Happy Jack's on Saturday and came away wanting a Barefaced Midget, a Crown power amp, a Thumpinator, and a 5 string Wal.
 6.
It must be quite difficult in a way. Bit of a balancing act, really. Lurk under an assumed name and your ability to contribute to the debate is a bit impaired - e.g., How was your last gig? - Errr. Sail under your own flag and you may fall foul of attention-seekers out to score a few points and prove how hard they are. Anyway, simple courtesy demands we treat him with the respect we'd show any new member and interact as we would with anyone else here. (As long as it's not a huge wind-up). .
Until he says Alain Caron is better than Guiggsy of course
 7.
I definitely think life on here is gonna get a lot more interesting with this fella on board
Do you think so? It would be lovely if he contributes and takes part in the manner of a bassist rather than a celebrity bassist, I'm sure that will be the case. I hope some members don't get too star-struck and bombard him with loads of questions I would rather like him to contribute to the What's Wrong With Modern Bassists thread
 8. My chrome Streamer is coolest bass I've had, or even seen
 9.
I'm on here too, but not many know who I am.
That's cos you live in Perth
 10.
I rather like that - especially the second half. You're really quite good at this guitar lark, aren't you?
Thanks EB. I keep getting comments from people that they prefer the second half, but I love the first half Cheers.
 11. With Kit we all wear black 'n' bling. I just ordered some natty flared black leather jeans to my specs from here http://www.makeyourownjeans.com/ They seem excellent, will be a few weeks before they arrive though. They do all sorts of stuff, denim jeans, leather jackets .. And I almost always wear a black hat and black suede Chelsea boots. Hats always come from Village Hats http://www.hatsandcaps.co.uk/?gclid=CPT4tLCCwa4CFUe9zAodPTsk-g Old Git turned me onto them, and I believe he managed to negotiate a discount for BC members before he passed on. I always think of Old Git when I buy a hat. This was his favourite hat shop.
 12. Try a Thumpinator. I tried Happy Jack's at the weekend, it's very clever indeed! Read this very fascinating thread, the designer of the Thumpinator takes part. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/165792-why-did-i-not-do-this-sooner/
 13.
You called? Yep, another Stick player here (and, probably not by coincidence, another King Crimson fan ). Mine's a 10-string in Baritone Melody tuning - I've played around with a couple of different tunings over the years including a Crafty-esque tuning a la Trey Gunn. I've been through various bits of gear effects/amp-wise over the years, normally involving some sort of POD (I'm currently thinking about getting an X3 Live purely for convenience). Here's a clip of me playing with Cynic, headlining Progpower in 2008:
Cool clip! but couldn't hear the stick too well If you want to try my POD X3 LIVE you are welcome to nip over with your stick mate.
 14. This thread was mentioned when I tried Happy Jack's double bass on Saturday, and had a quick lesson from Clarky. I am so glad I did that! Now I know for sure I never want to do it again, and a little bit of space in my brain is now free to use for something else
 15. Welcome pilgrim. What sort of bass do you fancy buying? What sort of music do you like?
 16.
A further revival for this thread. I had five Basschatters in my studio/garage on Saturday. Just after Clarky left, silddx asked about the Barefaced Midget so we ran his Warwick (the all-chrome one, which is bloody nice BTW) through a GK MB500 into the Midget, with which he was suitably impressed. He played with the settings on the MB500 to take the cab as close to the edge as he could - that Midget will cope with a staggering amount of abuse. Then he said "What about the Thumpinator?". So we ran his Warwick through the Thumpinator and into the GK500. The difference was really obvious. His sound was instantly tighter and clearer, and the Midget (which is a truly superb cab) went from being on the brink of farting out to being completely relaxed, with loads of headroom, and far less visible motion in the speaker. That's using a 4-string (so no Low B to consider) and with a 500W amp pushing pretty bloody hard. I tried (of course) doing A/B tests by myself when I first got the Thumpinator, but there's no doubt in my mind that being able to just stand there and listen to someone else play made it far easier to hear what was going on. I knew I sounded better when my board had the Thumpinator in place. Now I have a better idea of just how much better.
Thanks for your hospitality on Saturday Jack, really appreciate it! And huge thanks for letting me try to destroy your BF Midget What a piece of kit! And the Thumpinator is also a great bit of kit, really works! I shall be ordering one soonish. I think at some point I will be getting a mini-rig, and it will be a Midget (maybe a Compact) and a poweramp to run the POD X3 LIVE through. Thanks again mate! EDIT: I haven't forgotten that bloody 5-string Wal either. I can't stand 5ers or Wals, and now I want a 5-string Wal! I'm becoming confused and need to lie down in a darkened room for a while
 17.
Have you been writing for the industry again silddx?
Just keeping an eye on the armchair doctors on here mate, just so the OP isn't put at risk of being unable to pleasure herself with her Double Buck
 18. Back OT, there appears to be an assumption going on that the OP's problem is actually CAUSED by playing bass, (or excessive/overexuberant masturbation, but we'll leave that area alone - for now). Her symptoms are very possibly caused by something else and exacerbated (that's EXACERbated) by playing bass, or playing bass with poor posture and hand/wrist positioning. Best to go to the GP and get a proper diagnosis and treatment.
 19. Congratulations! Great that things are happening for your band! Exciting eh?!
 20.
Thanks Nigel. Yeah, looking forward to those gigs and will be great to try the EBS rig on a big stage
You'll have a blast mate! The crew there are soooooo good, and so professional. I'd love to play there again, although we were only in the theatre, not the main stage, one of the nicest gigs I've done.
 21.
Great to see you're moooovin up in the world!
Groan Congratulations Michael! I see your band is supprting Paul Weller at the Roundhouse for three dates, what a fabulous gig!
 22. Oddly, this is not the Chrome Streamer, it's the black Corvette $$ I sold to Jam Got that OMEN sh*t going on too. It's a violin bow, don't get your hopes up
 23.
ok i'll try and jam something out next week
Cool! Thanks man.
 24. John's a great guy. Lovely Jazz that mate. Enjoy it!
