Mesa Boogie Walkabout Scout at 2 ohms????
Musicman20 replied to EssentialTension's topic in Amps and Cabs
Looks like a good bit of kit. Who has tried the head through larger cabinets???!?!?! -
I would say yes to anybody using more than to pedals - you would benefit from a board. Until you've done it, you just can't appreciate how much simpler it is turning up to a practice or gig and plugging two cables and one plug in, and then every pedal is working, the right spacing away from each other, with all your settings intact and minimal travel/breakages on your patch leads. Not all pedalboards have to be big, and if you go the DIY route, you can get something exactly the size you need. As for powering them, the TU-2 uses a 9v supply, as does the BDDI (I assume!). The Tonehammer runs off 18v, but you can get a voltage doubler to plug into a 9v plug (I do this on my board), and the DL4 will also run off the same 9v supply if you have the correct adapter (again, I do this with no problems). So you only need one power supply with a single daisy chain cable and a couple of adapters. .
Id qiote like to do it with a proper board and the proper power blocks etc.... Is it best to get one of those Dunlop brick things?! Ive no idea where to look for boards....id prefer not to have to attach them by something thatll mark the paint on them. Maybe this but larger?
I'm in the exactly the same boat right now so I'm looking forward to the replies. I have a Korg pedal tuner, Boss OC-2, a DI box and may get another pedal in the future like a flanger or similar. The main reason I would like a powered board if possible is simply to have everything permanently connected and neat & tidy. It's just a mass of cables at present
+1 thats my thoughts too. Im not a mad effects user....but it would be handy.

Hi Not sure If I need a full board really. What do you think? Would it make life easier? Using: Sanamp BDDI Boss Tuner Line 6 Guitar Delay DL4 (quite a hefty bit of kit) Will be adding an Aguilar Tonehammer for different tones and different crunch cf to the BDDI 4 pedals max....I doubt ill get anymore. The Line 6 is only on there for when Im using guitar....although never tried it with bass, (the delay on this thing is very very nice!). Is there any point in a powered board? They are all virtually different power supplies, and tbh I could just use the BDDI or Tonehammer plus Tuner for bass. But, might be nice to have it all in one package. Any ideas? I have no knowledge on effects boards and power supplies. The Line 6 has its own plug because its quite power hungry, the rest are usually battery. I might add one or two in the future.

Hey chaps/ladies As a summary - Im a pro 28 year old bassist looking for a good standard band in London, preferably fairly professional. I play punk/hardcore/indie/post punk/rock/electro etc etc. Want to know more? Please read on..... I am a bass player (+ vocals) looking for a decent band to join in the London area. Right, to start I’ll tell you a little about me! Just so you know, I enjoy bass a lot more than guitar....im not just a guitarist trying to play bass. I can write the odd tune on guitar, so I can put input into the band as well as provide good bass skills and help with vocals. Previous bands: I’ve mainly played the louder side of the spectrum up to now. I have been in a fair few bands, and 2/3 of them have been quite professional. I have played anything from the more obscure and rhythmical types of music like the Mars Volta and Radiohead, to a covers band covering Led Zeppelin/The Beatles/Supergrass, to a band playing full on hardcore punk like Comeback Kid, Champion and Dead Swans, to a band playing psychedelic shoegaze like My Bloody Valentine. In between all these bands, I have had side projects playing anything from raw early emo, to electronic melodic indie, to the more standard indie like The Strokes, The Futureheads, Bloc Party, Joy Division, The Editors and Interpol. I have played some very professional venues, and been on tour 3-4 times across the country. Overall – I have a lot of experience, and I pick songs up very quickly. I am by no means a complete professional, but I can play to a high standard and I keep time/rhythm very well. Once I know a song properly, I can add all sorts to it to make it more interesting. I do not like sticking to route notes! Expect bass runs and little solos. Side note – I can easily handle backing vocals no problem. I have been doing this for a few years now, all the way from harmonies to the more aggressive screaming. New band I am looking for: Now this is where it becomes interesting. I like a lot of music ranging from blisteringly fast/heavy, to slow and melodic. I currently play in this band www.myspace.com/thedepartedgyhc Id love to try something in the vein of the new dirty rock n roll hardcore....bluesy riffs but heavy and catchy! I would also enjoy playing more punk or hardcore. That gives you an idea of the heavier/faster music I like. For example, Comeback Kid, Dead Swans, Champion, Gorilla Biscuits, No Use For A Name, NOFX, Lagwagon, Ignite, Strung Out, Bring Me The Horizon, The Architects, Underoath, Every Time I Die, Converge, Cave-In, ISIS, Rancid, Pennywise, H20, Descendants, Strike Anywhere, Cancer Bats, Ghost Of A Thosand, The Bronx, The Plight, BANE, Weezer. I also would like to play something along the lines of Interpol/Joy Division/The Editors/Arcade Fire/The Smiths with strong melodic basslines. Anything in the ball park of Bloc Party, The Stokes, Kings of Leon, The Rapture, LCD Soundsystem, Biffy Clyro would be great. Anything from the good era (eg before it became a joke) of ‘emo’ would be considered like The Get Up Kids, Jimmy Eat World, Appleseed Cast, Rilo Kiley. Contact Please email me to discuss anything. NOTE: please on reply if you are serious about me potentially joining an an ongoing band. I have been messed around a fair few times and all I want to do is play and enjoy! I do not want something that takes months and months to get started. I move to South London (near to Woolwich/Greenwich) in the second week of January 2010, and I want a new band asap. I'd prefer the band to be as professional, yet fun, as possible. Good guitarists with a good sense of melody and solid drummers please....
As i quite fancy the MB 15" combo currently going on here i would need to shift my MB210P cab. Its about 6 months old and mint condition, has been gigged but well looked after. It is the 4 ohm version. would be looking for £350 and i still have the original box it came in so courier could be arranged (at buyers expense and arrangement) or could be collected. Of course I would also have to sell my ashdown LG1000 head too (see other thread!!!)
Pics please

Giving up on going smaller/lighter with cabs?!
Musicman20 replied to Musicman20's topic in Amps and Cabs
I have a Mesa Walkabout - its big enough for virtually all of the 'punk/alternative' venues eg, we played with it tonight at the Purple Turtle in Camden. Great sounds (due to tube preamp) and plenty loud, plus very one-hand-lift portable
See if I hadnt gone for the LM3, I would go for something like this....without a doubt. Its a shame guitarguitar decided a new one ordered in (eg not display stock) would be an extra £500, (with regards to the Mesa WA). I really need to try keep with the LM3 as I really like it, but get an awesome small cab or two. How was the speaker in your old MB combo? -
Giving up on going smaller/lighter with cabs?!
Musicman20 replied to Musicman20's topic in Amps and Cabs
I was looking at Bergantino and Markbass cabs, with emphasis on Berg due to how happy I am with the HS410. But, and the big but, it it really worth getting 2 1x12s when all in all lightweight 2x12s arent that much lighter than my Aguilar DB212 cabs. Not only that, the price on new Berg gear is astronomical and I could get a lot with 1100+ quid. Pretty open minded to other stuff.... I think im asking too much or Im being too picky. -
I've been round in circles about cabs, for months. I have fat too many mid sized cab, but I enjoy them all.....I dont want to sell any. Tried loads of combinations, looked at lots of prices. Moving to London will mean I need something smaller for certain gigs, plus me and the girlfriend are selling the car if we live fairly central. Any ideas?! Scrap it and just take the LM3 and/or good DI like Tonehammer/BDDI? OR....is there a holy grail of small and awesome tone bass cab out there. I mean 1x12 small, x2 basically, or a small 2x10. So its micro rigs basically, which work with the LM3. Not bothered if its not massively loud, as long as it sounds awesome. Maybe I should just go for a PJ Combo?! ARGHHHGHGHHGH

Awesome! The LH is one damn loud amp...I used the 500 a few times on tour...but I always found it very 'basic' sounding...still good for the price though. Id like to hear the GK.

What's the most over-rated bass, or bass related product???
Musicman20 replied to silverfoxnik's topic in General Discussion
Ampeg again, after using a cab this weekend at a gig that sounded a bit 'meh'. I really wanted to like Ampeg. -
PICS! Also, guitar-wise, I sold my Fender Deville which was too loud for my needs and not really a mad fan of 10s with guitar, so Ive got a Dual Terror and an Orange PPC212 in Limited Edition White on order The Dual Terror is amazing for its size and price, and has options of either being on 7, 15 or 30 watts. 30 watts all tube is damn damn loud.
Do you know what pickups this has? American or Japanese?
Hi I THINK its the USA pickup.....Im not 100%. When I bought it new I never knew a lot apart from I wanted a Fender Precision, and this MIJ caught my eye. Old Git (Si) knows I bet.... -
I have yet to use the LM3 with my sansamp...quite looking forward to it. I think Im going to get a Tonehammer as well to be able to choose!
