1. Hi! Looking for opinions on these for those that have also played the American Standards. I'm looking for a 2nd P bass...wondering if this might fit the bill?
2. VT Bass into a nice small Class D amp (even if you put it straight into the power section). Genz Shuttle 9.0, Genz Streamliner 900, Markbass F500. Or, the TC RH amps will get very close to a modern interpretation on Ampeg.
3. Hi Bruce, no probs. Sent you a PM (private message) explaining how the sale sections work, glad it sold quickly! Cheers
4. Hi The Streamliner 900 has a 1/4 in, and the iPod I have is 1/8th in, as usual. Ive been looking round for the best solution as all my cables I currently have dont fit! So, am I best with: http://www.amazon.co.uk/3-5mm-Stereo-Jack-...d=2IJT8P0IYWRSD OR, these two together (does the gold plating make ANY difference at all?!): http://www.amazon.co.uk/Adaptor-Premium-Qu...d=2IJT8P0IYWRSD http://www.amazon.co.uk/3-5mm-Stereo-Plug-...d=2IJT8P0IYWRSD
5. Err, ok, I did PM and as you can see, at the top of the list. I didnt even get a response. No problem that it is sold, but I would have appreciated a chance.
6. Id like to chime in now with my large experience with the 2008- American Standards: Advantages: Tone, consistent weight, excellent case (I think all instruments should come with a proper hardcase, and these really are the best Ive seen) better colours/guards for the current crop, bridge, light tuners, overall feel, pickups, fingerboard (especially the rosewood), necks. Disadvantages: New higher pricing, (although a Lakland P is about £950 and is not cased and is made in the Cort factory) slightly too thin finish on some colours (white seems a little too thin for me, but it still looks great!) inconsistent QC, (Ive played around 8-9 and owned about 3-4, and Ive kept one which is my favourite P of all time). If you get a well made AS, and its at a fair price (you can offer lower than the website price) then it will serve you very well. Personally, the sunburst/tort/rosewood and white/tort/rosewood are perfect to me. Ive thought about a 'boutique' or custom P, but I think the P is one of those basses that Ill stick with Fender for. P/J, 5 string Js, etc, fair enough, check out the boutique gear, but the USA P is a very good instrument and much cheaper.
7. I dont really like black at all unless I have to. Jon should make a White/rosewood/tort version
8.
Just got my RH750 & RS210 today and am mighterly impressed Just checking re voltages, I could take my UK bought 750 to the US & just use the uk lead & a 3 pin to 2 pin plug adapter ?
Yep! It switches power itself. Im still waiting for my 3rd RH750...the 2nd had a really odd vibrating when the fan was on that stopped and started when you touched the top of the amp....tried all surfaces, tried it on its side, listened through the vents and hey presto, something was vibrating on catching. Shame. Hopefully 3rd time lucky.
9. I didnt either! Good wind up!
10. I think my only worry would be using my current micro amps through them, as they are both much more than 200W at 8ohms (1x12) or 400W at 4 ohms (2x12). I know you can be careful, and thats what a volume knob is for, but I would still be a little worried.
11. Looks great, apparently sounds great, well engineered, but quite heavy and not that high a wattage rating. Id like to try one though.
12. How much is the Shuker nowadays?
13. Few quality DI/pedals: Tech 21 Sansamp BDDI or a variation on this Tech 21 VT Bass Deluxe Aguilar Tone Hammer All high quality, great tone.
14. Registered my interest in a maple HH Ray 5 19mm with S&T UK. If they do them for normal UK street price and dont put extra on (they shouldnt because they are the same in the USA) then I dont mind going through a dealer.
15. If I was going to get an SP cab, it would be the SP212. I tested it at Orange down south, and it was loud, VERY light, VERY small, and quite 'middy'. There wasnt a lot of bottom end, but thats to be expected. The RS210, to my ears, is a very very good 2x10! I bought two after hearing praise on talkbass, then hearing them in person stacked at the Bass Merchant. I sold a Berg cab....yes, a Berg cab, to get them. I didnt want another squat 4x10, although I would have liked to have kept the Berg, but nevermind! Im quite picky with cabinets. I like warm punchy mids, plenty of bass, but not a shrill high end....cant stand plasticky tweeter sounds, (and thats a little like what the Berg did with the tweeter IMO. Id sum up the RS210 as: Small, easy to move, well made, handles volume, slightly delicate finish (needs the £18 cover), punchy, smooth high end due to the tweeter, plenty of lows, low mid kick. They are probably inbetween vintage and modern in terms of tone.
16. I bet they didnt do it intentionally.
17. That Fender looks better. Lakland need to sort out bridge/pickup placement! It can't be that hard.
18. I imagine we may be able to buy direct and pay shipping etc or have it sent through S&T. If they are standard prices I'd like a black/maple 5 HH.
19. Basically we pay too much anyway, as always. Then our wages seem to stay the same and prices keep rising (I don't currently own a car as I don't need one but fuel really annoys me). Why Fenders have gone up to £1049 is beyond me. They used to be £829 six months ago.
20. The Streamliner is more like a clean tube amp. Very thick smooth tone, massive low end, good mid punch, smooth yet crisp highs.
