  1. Ah @pete.young will be disappointed to have missed out on your 3000MA from his comment a few posts back!
  2. Interesting about the Gruv Gear Duo. I couldn’t get comfortable with that at all, either, despite my best efforts.
  3. You'd be the second behind Mr Browning, who has already ordered his! 😉 One thing I hadn't registered was just how BIG the WD-800 and TT-800 are. They're not your typical D class head size by any means.
  4. Cheers for that @Hellzero - it does seem that the strap width is the key! The Richter does look great and 4.3" / 11cm as you mention, but looking like £100 inc P&P Mark from Talking Bass came back to me and he's using a Levy 4.5" (around £75 inc P&P) and several Minotour 4.1" / 10.5 cm (around £45+ inc P&P) which he also recommends highly and are a bit more affordable.
  5. Loved the track and hearing a Yammy BB in the mix - hope you don't mind me re-posting your clip here @doc40hz! Btw is it a BB414 that you're playing - I'm guessing based on the matching headstock? If you're not a fan of slap bass then stop listening a 4.07 - but if, like me, you love hearing it done so well and entirely appropriately on a Level 42 track then listen on!
  6. Great you know your way around 414s so well and congrats on the new bass. Obligatory pics of it once you've got it set up needed, of course! Other than being a 5 string, is the tone of the pups & EQ on your 414 otherwise pretty similar sounding to your 425?
  7. @ead - if you check my YT clip a few posts back, you'll see the strap I was referring to. Looks VERY comfortable. I should probably see if I can get Mark to tell me - as no one from the forum seems to know!
  8. I guess none of us are never not entirely in the market for something or other! Maybe that's the definition of BC?! A used WD-800 is something I'd be keen to try out at some point. I've still not found a better sounding amp than my Mesa M6 - I suspect that the WD 800 gets close. Although until lock down lifts the incentive isn't huge and I end up thinking whether I'll see much, if any, improvement over my lighter DG AO900 which I use for gigging. @fretmeister is about to treat himself to a new amp to celebrate a new cab (of course!). As the protagonist of this thread he should really get a WD 800 and let us know if it's a step up from either his DG M900 or his Markbass MM (inappropriate to use the MB abbreviation for them on a MB thread, right?). That's only right and proper for an OP to dutifully pay the price, no? Although, if we're going down that road I'm still waiting for @Woodinblack to get himself a Zoom B1-4. I should probably sell him my spare one and tbf there's a fair bit of gear that I'd then be obliged to buy 😁
  9. Ah snooze, I lose! Although now that prices have fallen to that of DG amps, I'd expect more new purchases, and used prices to follow on down to a level comparable to used DG Mk2s i.e. £700 used is likely to become the new norm.
  10. Mark at TB is running a 7th anniversary 30% discount on ALL his courses for one week (started yesterday, so 6 days remaining).
  11. Thanks @mcnach - I was kinda just exploring what folk favoured doing in practice. It seems to be: looping over the strap 100% locking jack leads 0% So far!
  12. Please do elaborate on why it didn't work out with them?
  13. Had a quick search - seems to have gone already?
  14. @ead - that's a classy selection! And I defo can't be rude to someone who has a Spector (or two!) 😉
  15. So wot you got now and I'm guessing you prefer them to your Yammys (I presume!)?
  16. Yeah agreed v tempting! He's had a few bites, but hasn't shifted so far. If it was a 5P I'd be all over it!
  17. Ok just because... ...a thread about a particular line of basses can get 4,000 posts from a lot of different bass players 🥂 There must be something special about them, right?
  18. You're massively welcome, mate. Just glad you're enjoying!
  19. P pups in the right place should in theory give you more than a passing nod to the P bass sound. In my simpleton books anyway! Do you remember how the SR655e sounded and played?
  20. Yeah - and I guess I could see them damaging the jack socket on the bass, in any case, if they get yanked.
  21. PS Woody it's that time of year again, for me to request that you consider removing "NBD" from the thread title. It's been 3 years and a week since it was a NBD for you 😁 @stewblack - Stew re. your new thread, this one has been a bit of a repository for all things SR Premium, although not easy to spot as Woody is wedded to original thread titles 😁 But I'm not sure there is a broader Ibby thread that deals with the rest of the range e.g. BTB etc.
  22. @Skinnyman a week in, how are you finding it?! I'm rally tempted to go for a Ibby SR 655e as an upgrade to my Sire P7v2. Ticks a lot of boxes for me: PJ with reverse-P config, 24 frets, 3 band EQ, Nord pups. Will he light being an Ibby and likely have its usually immensely playable neck for a 5er. Hard to find that combination elsewhere, but it just feels a little weird thinking of the Ibby as a potential P bass! @Woodinblack I'm fearing that this might be one that you've not got your mits around and therefore won't be able to shed any light on it, for once! Dunno if anyone else has had any experience of these for good or ill? Wanted ad up, in case one of you has one gathering dust...
  23. Yup, that was pretty crap on her part I agree!
  24. The neck on the 1025 is actually pretty flat and makes it very comfortable to play as a 5 string - it's one of the things I Iove about it, so I can't help you on that score! Ah the thorny and deeply significant topic of favourite colours! Haha! I used to be a fan of burst finishes, but then I started shaving (again)...vintage white for me (no idea why Yammy are limiting us to the colours that they are!). I'm afraid that #blackbassesdon'tmatter anymore for me either. Besides Andy T will be on shortly and remind us that... 😂
  25. Thanks gents - that's v helpful! Looping over the strap it is then!
