Yeah very much had you in mind with the EP comment, mate.
But if they are going to be adding £250+ [TBC] for the privilege of not plugging in an external stomp switch pedal, that's asking a lot from punters!
Rockboard FlaX Plug MIDI Cable 30 cm x 4 (new).
Happy to split into two lots of two at £9 plus P&P per pair
Cost around £13 per pair new plus P&P - so bag yourself a saving 30% off the list price for a band new item.
Personally, I think if Yamaha relaunched the BB2005 they would have a ready market and it would likely be received as the equivalent to the BBNE2 that the BB1025 is to the BB2025.
Yeah not surprised at all and I was really tempted myself - they hardly ever come up and this was on for a really good price!
Okay it might need a bit of work on the bass EQ but I can't imagine that would add more than £75 to £100 tops worst case? And given there is one on eBay for £1,200 it's still great value.
Interesting point about the expression pedal - I know some folk specifically have mentioned that they are turned off by units that oblige them to have an EP attached which they won't be using.
Also agree that this could choke off sales of the HX Effects going forward - depending on the price point of course.
Good question and also what it costs? If it's the anything like the £ equivalent of the $ price on ordep's post i.e. £749 that is almost double the price of a £399 Stomp and I can't see it flying off the shelf at that price point. I'm guesing folk may be willing to stump up maybe up to around £500, given it doesn't cost a lot more to add a couple of footswitches. But I'd certainly balk at much beyond that, particularly with a nearly 6 year old chipset and comments about running into DSP limitations after release 3.0.
Be good to get your thoughts on how much extra you'd be comfortable with paying for the Stomp "Estate"?
Well spotted and it's for real! Looks like NAMM 2021 has finally got interesting on the pedal front.
In terms of design - they've sliced off the right edge where the volume knob previously was (the vol knob is on the back now) and the D & B buttons have been added to the left of the screen instead. AND then the other 4 stomp buttons on top.
So in effect you've now got a Stomp with as many stomp buttons as HX Effects (and obviously the amp and cab sims which HX Effects doesn't have) in a package that is probably slightly smaller than the HX Effects. Interesting.
You willing to put a wager on this? Money can be held by a mod and winner can direct to a charity of their choosing.
What date do you reckon pub gigs will start then? Name your date and whoever gets it closest wins.
Nope, straight up (for some pub gigs anyway).
That's 16 weeks away. A lot can improve in that time, as crap as things seem right now.
We have the best vaccination programme in Europe here in the UK, by some margin; and one of the best in the world.
There's a BCers' axiom that basses tend to fill the number of stand spaces available to the owner.
Don't make my schoolboy error of getting a 7 bass stand to replace my old 5 bass stand...
...and then not selling the 5 bass stand 😁
Key strategy adopted by Australia has been to massively stop travel into Australia to prevent importing Covid.
When a few countries suggested stopping flights from China a year back they were labelled xenophobic by the Chinese (and their WHO sycophants) who both have a lot to answer for.
That's a ridiculously good price for that pedal Paul. I've been sorely tempted to see how close it gets to the "real thing" and if I didn't actually have the real thing in the form a VTDI and no space on my board, I would have bitten your hand off...
Which wouldn't have been helpful for your bass playing.
I tend to associate chambered bodies with more up market (in terms of pricing) basses.
Given the price point of the Yamaha BBs just wonder whether chambering would be viable?
