  1. Couldn't agree more - it is just experiences shared in common by several BC'ers, some of whom are really outstanding bass players. Just to go back to my OP, when I switched from P to J pup mid set for a song with a lot of low B work with exactly the same EQ settings, our drummer, who has a really excellent ear, did a double take and said "whatever you just did - keep doing!" He could hear me cutting through the mix with that one change. The P and J pups were set up just fine for the rest of the set on songs with less focus on the low end. As I hope I've made clear, plenty of folk won't have experienced this issue on their set ups. It's just a little 'gem' that may come in useful to some of our fellow musos along the way.
  2. More seriously - looking back over the thread, it does seem like the point of view expressed by Andruca is one shared by some seriously competent bass players (so I wouldn't be quite so quick to be so dismissive @CameronJ) and, amusingly, one of them happens to have a Sadowsky PJ5 and hasn't merely looked at their website. Defo worth keeping an open mind to other folks' experiences - won't always be relevant but could be a little hidden gem in there from time to time. Just sayin' 😉
  3. For sure, it's a marvellous bass - in fact one of the very best! Not a PJ though.
  4. Now there's a chap who's managed to Roger it up, 'bless 'im! Seems to be getting his W'ick completely confused with his Metro.
  5. They do a four string version of course, Lozz.
  6. Plus £ has gone up, highest it's been for a while at $1.35, was at $1.20 in Aug 2019 when these came out.
  7. Just Jan sales. I've seen a couple of Sandberg Panthers on for £1.5k and not the usual £2.2k - nothing to do with quality, just stuff not shifting with what's going on. I picked up my Spector in some Anderton sales in 2019 and was lucky to get for a great price.
  8. Now just £575 at GAK. Defo not so crap at that price. And as you say, the rest of it looks very good on paper.
  9. At the end of the day I'd love a Spector with a reverse PJ set up on 5 string (EMGs plus 35" scale) but they can't be arsed to bring one out, so this is a poor man's alternative and entirely appropriate therefore it has a rough 'red neck' 😁
  10. Yeah but possibly something that can be easily sorted with a bit of extremely fine sandpaper? You're much more expert on that sort of thing than me.
  11. Reverse PJ EMGs, 3 band EQ and 35" scale are all pretty promising. Unless of course that's 5" too big for you.
  12. Cheers Andy, you've reminded me I need to be getting me one of these! 😉
  13. Was just looking up an old thread on this bass... ...came across your post from a while back and thought what you were saying completely tied in with what I was hearing as set out in the OP! Appreciate it's not everyone's experience but it's certainly both of ours - so I thought I'd post it on here so that it's not lost.
  14. ...but it seems to me there is a bit of bloody mindedness on both sides here. Have I understood correctly from the posts on this thread that the EU is essentially saying: "We'd like to give you 3 boxes of chocolates", To which the UK replied: "Thanks, but we'd just like one box please." EU: "In that case, you can't have any."
  15. You say this as though it was a fact. But it's not. Check the number of jobs in the City in 2016 and the number today. I think you'll find it's gone up. Reciprocal arrangements - that's the key point, thanks.
  16. I guess my question is - whether this musician visa is available to any musician from anywhere on the planet and therefore potentially available to itinerant Brits? And if so, have you just solved this?!! Haha - that is nicely put! But as you say it's the used market (discussed elsewhere at length) and more specifically touring musicians that is the key point of this thread and more than happy to stick to that if the odd bit of "balance" is not needed 😉 But brilliant if Woody has just sorted it!
  17. Interesting. Does it allow ANY / ALL non-EU nationals to access this and does this cover musicians touring or is it just a tourist visa?
  18. Probably can't justify getting given that my Zoom B1-4 is already an excellent little headphone amp with fx and drum machine built in. But the Nux does look really neat!
  19. I agree that parallel fx routing in the Zoom pedals would be a major step forward. I suspect it will require an upgraded chipset for them to deliver this, but I'm looking forward to it - particularly if they can provide in something as compact as a B1-4!
  20. Am I correct in thinking there are sadly NO 5 string BBs with the reversed pups?
  21. Tbf they also didn't join the EU in a joint vaccine purchasing project. Thank goodness eh? It's not all one-way traffic here.
  22. Thanks Chris - reading through the thread until your post I had assumed what everyone was speaking about was fact rather than conjecture. Our largest wealth generator and source of tax revenues for the NHS etc is Financial Services. The EU is refusing to grant equivalence to the UK despite the fact we have essentially the same rules currently. They have, however, granted equivalence to the US a long while back. So basically they would prefer to punish the UK and see business go to the US rather than reach a sensible deal that works for both the UK and the EU. None of this is one sided with a simple playbook of an evil UK vs saintly EU. It's certainly not so straightforward.
  23. (Also see above). It's the one with the "Happy ending."
  24. Very impressive! You holding onto your various bits of handiwork or moving them on to make way for the next project?
