  1. Agree with all of that. No one is ever forced to buy a particular item of used (or new) bass gear. Shop around. If you think the price is too high, negotiate and if you're still not happy, don't buy it! But I think it's very wrong to label someone "dishonest" for listing their property for sale at whatever price they choose to. It's their choice. Back on topic again...yeah Yamahas are very good. Particularly for the money 😁 And yet, there are still no BB 1100S for sale! @bassfan's was a really fine specimen, but it took him ages to shift last year and it was on for bargain price compared to what BB1100s are being listed for today.
  2. That's a good shout. Must admit I was singularly disappointed with the Digitech Dirty Robot - very very limited range of sounds and the ones it could do weren't particularly usable.
  3. It's an interesting one. It's not like we're selling a life saving vaccine here (and on that score it's wonderful that Oxford / AZ are selling their vaccine at cost and for a lot less than what some of the other vaccines are being sold for). I often list things at different prices on different platforms (typically a bit more on eBay than on here not least because I have extra costs on there). And if you manage to find a bargain why shouldn't you sell it on for the market price if your item is actually worth more than you bought it for or your item becomes fashionable (Wal basses) or market conditions change and the £ falls and retail prices go up etc. For me "honesty" is about making you sure you describe the item accurately and don't try to pass off something defective as being fine. What price you list it for is your choice - no one is forced to pay what you're asking for it.
  4. Looks interesting. Gets compared quite a lot to the Boss SY-1 in this review: Guitar Pedal X - GPX Blog - Subdecay Releases its 3rd Guitar Synth Pedal - the M3 Monophonic 3 Oscillator Guitar Synth Be interesting to understand further how those two particular pedals compare and contrast.
  5. That's high praise indeed, coming from you Mark!
  6. Yamaha 735A PJ 5er £549 (ONO) - not getting much use currently due to stiff competition from another Yahama PJ 5er in my herd! It has an active, 3 band EQ, body through stringing, laminate body and laminate neck construction, passive switch and a very comfortable neck. 34" scale, 18mm string spacing and 4.4kg / 9.7lbs. The bass is in very good condition. Key noteworthy marks are: a small paint blemish on the top of the body which is pretty hard to see in a photo, which arose from a K sticker being put on the bass by the previous owner; a small chip on the side of the neck (second pic between the 7th and 9th fret dots just below the line of the fretboard). There is also the usual body paint wear and rear surface scratches / very minor dings consistent with a bass that has been played in. I'm the second owner, this was bought very recently from a fellow BCer who looked after it well and the bass is a little over 2 years old. Nice tone demo by our very own TJ Spicer: Yamaha BB735A/734A Tone Demo | Fingerstyle | Slap | Pickstyle - YouTube Happy to meet half way over a reasonable distance or to courier (P&P extra).
  7. So here's a thing with my Yamaha BB 1025: I always thought I liked the combined PJ setting the best, but I'm finding I'm using that the least these days - loving the solo P and also really liking the solo J.
  8. Been a few months since I spent any time on Mark at Talking Bass's course, but seem to have a got some fresh motivation with the new year in (and fortunately I've not forgotten everything I picked up before!) Just spotted he's got a NY sale on in case anyone fancies doing something a bit more structured during Lockdown Mk III.
  9. Not come across Tsakalis stuff before. Sounds pretty good on guitar and cool that it has built in octave - looking forward a "full Stew" on bass!
  10. If anyone's got a spare BB1100S in the cupboard...
  11. Lovely bass. I'm not sure it's going to fit in that drawer though...
  12. Blimey you've not found your desired Yammy bass having waited a whole fortnight? I had to wait a full 6 months before a white NE2 turned up and as for a (aka 'my') white 1025 forget it! 😄 I'll link you to the Yammy thread and definitely worth sticking a wanted ad up, if you've not done so already.
  13. Are you using a combo? If not, need speakon cable to cab (or a pair of headphones) too! Now fixed 😁
  14. +1^^ exactly this. Nuances of tone get lost in the mix but the ball ache of complicated editing kinda sticks around! For me that's meant being prepared to invest time with multifx's (and hopefully getting a DAW recording interface finally sorted this year) but taking a decision last year to bin PC editing elsewhere (e.g. SA & certain TC pedals, Future Impact etc.). Others have got the head space to do it all and have my respect! We all have different priorities I guess.
  15. Worth checking out this thread: Songs where the bass line IS the song. | TalkBass.com
  16. ..load all the PA gear into our boot, transport it to the gig, unload it (play for a couple of hours) load up the PA at the end of the gig back into the boot and then drive back and unload it back at home.
  17. Because they sell you stuff you don't need and then kindly buy it off you again. This keeps Parcelforce and others very happy.
  18. Opening post on this thread summarises: Buying from EU private sellers - 20% VAT from 1 Jan 2021 - General Discussion - Basschat
  19. Simple point really: there's been a heck of a lot of doom and gloom on trade issues and the above was definitely one of them. I think we should have more faith in the ability of port authorities and business folk to adapt and solve problems. +1^^ Yup, unfortunately. Been discussed at length earlier on this thread and on the various buying from the EU / selling to the EU threads.
  20. But thanks, anyway, for the formula. What it does tell me is that a "3/4" EUB is actually an 85% EUB if we were going on scaled down volumes, but because they are effectively sticks, they're perhaps better thought of as 95% EUBs based on scale length. Lol! And the scale length of a "3/4" EUB is significantly closer to a full scale upright than a short scale bass (30") is to a standard 34" scale bass. Well I've learnt something new today! 😊
  21. It's the X2 button in the formatting bar
  22. Well you've now piqued my interest(!) but I'm not sure about your formula... 3√(3/4) = 3*0.866 = 2.60 as your multiplicative factor? Scrap that! I think you meant 3√(3/4) i.e. cube root of 3/4 which makes better sense!
  23. And on a more positive note: "Jean-Michel Thillier, the head customs official for the Haunts-de-France region, insisted the Dover-Calais route is more attractive than in the past. French officials have deployed new “smart border” technology to beat chaos at their ports after the introduction of new post-Brexit trading rules. Trucks are flowing freely between Dover and Calais thanks to the system which, even with new paperwork requirements, he said his team of officers in northern France had managed to process thousands of lorries with ease." Probably just more dodgy propaganda from someone who doesn't know what he's talking about...best ignore him.
  24. "3/4 size" is definitely a misnomer, isn't it, if full size is only a 6% bigger scale length!
  25. Like a lot of gear addicts on BC, I've got through a ton of bass gear over the years. The oldest piece of bass kit I still have, which I've loved from the day I bought it 6.5 years ago and also from Guitar Guitar, is my Mesa M6 amp. I still can't recommend it highly enough.
