This one...I see what you mean, very tasty! And has the reverse P setup to boot.
-
Agreed. And they don't look too shabby in black either! But did the 2004 and 2005 both precede the NE2 and were ceased production after the NE2 came out?
-
I was going to say - not surprised that is has such great sustain if it's a thru neck. Except it's not! 😎 I'm guessing there won't probably be a 5 string version, which is a shame, in the same way that the NE2 was not, to my knowledge, ever released as a 4 string.
-
Thanks - that was an interesting pic of the NYXL B string taper. I suspect the definition of a "very long time" will likely vary (Chinese ambassador: "a thousand years is not a 'long time' for us!"). Typical bass player? Guess it's gonna all depend on whether you like your sound mellow or bright! I'm probs in the 6 months to 1 year category for my 2 or 3 'busy basses', but definitely > 1 year for most of the rest, and my EUB strings are 3yrs+ and going fine!
-
These really are proving popular if they're already sold out! Well done Boss with coming up with a great OC2 replacement (from the vast majority of comments I've seen anyway) at an affordable price point!
-
That's great - very low latency for a wireless transmitter. Not sure I follow this? I guess my PB would be always plugged in for home use - just put the pedals in bypass mode** when I don't want to use them, and just a case of swapping the transmitter over between basses. But either way I'm looking forward to the WL-20s as currently my SH is not on my board and there's no space for it! ** I did notice that my EUB was significantly noisier going through my PB with everything in by-pass the other day, and the noise disappeared when I went EUB --> amp directly, which I wasn't expecting! As you know I couldn't get on with my Xvive's - found them to be very glitchy. As Bassfan mentioned - that's probably due to the fact it only seems to work well with certain bass input sockets and not others.
-
It's definitely neat. For folk currently just going straight from bass --> amp & cab I take your point about plug & play convenience. But if you have a pedal board with the SH integrated into it - which is a one off thing to get done - the convenience factor is pretty similar i.e. you similarly just plug in the transmitter into your bass directly. The SH is hinged, unlike the Boss one, and so can be even more discrete. So the key benefit for me is not needing to take up the space that could be given to another pedal, which the SH receiver currently does. If the latency on this is actually noticeably less than the 8ms / 5ms on the SH as well, I could be putting up my SH for sale in the new year too! Although I must admit the 8ms latency SH has never particularly bothered me - probably because most of my pedals are analogue rather than digital (which add in further latency issues) and we are using an analogue rather than digital sound desk. Did I recall correctly someone mentioning the latency on the Boss was around 3ms, or am I just making that up?! @ped on the SH did you try out the shorter 5ms latency setting which is available (which cuts it down from the default 8ms) - but is "only recommended for low interference environments"?

Enjoyed that a lot @sammybee - thanks for sharing. Just seen that the prices of the RD-8 are back up to the £270+ mark, so you picked yours up for an absolute steal at Bax Music!
-
That's great to hear. I appreciate I was only ever an after thought 😁 ...but I've now got one incoming (courtesy of Mr dB5) in the new year which I'm looking forward to - even more so after your positive comments Deedee. Dunno if any folk have had both the WL-20 and the Smoothhound and been able to compare? I do like the fact that the WL-20 will free up the space for an extra pedal which the SH transmitter would otherwise be taking up, although in terms of pricing it's very much in line with the SH.
-
Well apparently according to BD it's an "investment grade" bass! 😁
-
I haven't dB! Have you got them on your 1025X? What extra are you getting / hearing from them compared to the EXLs? (I see they're about 50% pricier than the EXLs - dv247 currently have the NYXL 45 to 130s in stock for £33).
-
Spoke too soon: GAK are doing a set of EXL 170-5 for £22.20 (plus fixed £2 postage irrespective of how many packs you get). I've just helped myself to 3 sets - two of my basses, including my 735A, are in desperate need of some new strings (and a bit of fretboard oil / tlc!) and it was good to bag a spare set while I can get them for that price!
-
D'Addario EXL 170s nickels are my go to strings also. Richtone were doing a double pack of 5ers for £40. I should have bulk ordered - I see that the double pack has gone back up to £60!! But I guess £30 for a set of 5 strings is par for the course.
-
Give him a chance, poor guy is probably busy saving lives as we speak! 😎
-
Ah ok, what make of strings came as stock? Wonder why they are so "dirty"?
-
I'm guessing you prefer nickels and these came with steels, right?
-
Guess I'm a little less bored, in that I've only recently started using DG dirts more regularly, BUT you can get bloomin' close using the DG sim on a Zoom B1-4 multifx and that will set you back all of £65 (and it does a lot else besides a decent DG B7K impression!) If you want a really crunchy sound that is a little less hackneyed, try a gated fuzz in front of your B7K (or in my case B7K sim on my Zoom) e.g. Tech21 Red Ripper --> B7K. Very tasty! Besides price, the other factor is that this looks like quite a sizeable pedal that will take up quite a chunk of PB space.

Some VERY good news at last - live music back by the Spring?

Not sure - be interested in finding this out myself! -

Damn, I've had to turn down a Central London function gig next week as I'm out of town! Gutted! And I see that live music venues can open at 50% capacity and serve alcohol to ticket holders? -
So the new Yammy PH is not a coincidence then - and a great way to celebrate picking up where you left off! 😊
-
I'd better sell him mine then! 😁
-
In which case @AndyTravisis looking for a Yammy gig bag for his 414... You're welcome, gents 😊
-
Interesting that a number of folk don't seem to have any issues with the dimensions of the gig bag - maybe it's just me and @dannybuoy who found them a little tight. I'll get a picture done with mine in later: my recollection is that it was very "snug" i.e. the top of the head was pushing against the fabric and there was no space in between i.e. another 1cm at the top would be perfect just to provide a little more cushion. No dispute that it's otherwise a very nice gig bag. And obviously the hard cases for the NE2 and P34/5s are also very nice indeed, although heavy!

I started reading that and started thinking, blimey he's got seventeen 734As!! Wall of shame getting updated right now!

+1 ^^ for the Big Singles, huge fan of the Nordy pup growl! Although I do like the idea of noiseless Big Splits a lot if they sound almost the same. Barts seem to get quite a marmite reaction - not a great deal of love for the budget Barts in the SR standards, but the posher stuff on the Prestige are well liked. I get the feeling Bartolini diluted their brand by going budget, which is a shame, just like Sadowsky seem to be doing right now from a thread currently running! Sometimes chasing sales for its own sake can be fool's gold: there's a reason the Porsche 911 is still the world's most profitable car (not that I will ever own one!) - hmmm I'm going seriously off topic now, lol! Yeah go for Nordy Big Singles (or Splits) 😁
