  1. I believe Santa has a bit left over from his trip to @PatrickJ's...
  2. @MrCrane - another big fan of LSD here! I love the originality of their covers. Bridget Kearney is a phenomenally talented bass player and song writer.
  3. Did he spot you lurking on a gear abstinence thread earlier in the year? In which case, he was maybe just trying to be 'helpful' 😁
  4. She is amazing isn't she? Had the privilege of being in the audience for that same song a couple of years back. More raw and visceral than on her appearance on Jools.
  5. So has Santa tipped the scales for any of you?! 😊
  6. I've loved the freedom that my SH wireless system has offered and am very happy to recommend it. As you can see I went to town with the various bits and accessories a) Smoothhound wireless (with box and materials) £95 [SOLD on eBay] Very tiny bit of sellotape residue on the transmitter where I had stuck a label on to remind me which transmitter was which! Velcro left on base of receiver. (£149 new) b) Spare transmitter - separate ad c) Bespoke strap adaptor holder (I think this was around £10 inc P&P new) + belt pack adapter (£2 new) + microsuction tapes (4 x £1.49 each = £6 new) + polarity reverser ( £2 new) All in £11 [SOLD] (The strap is obviously just there for illustration - and not included ) Available together or separately. P&P on top. PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU ARE BUYING FROM OUTSIDE THE UK THEN LOCAL VAT RATES PLUS HANDLING CHARGES MAY APPLY - IN PARTICULAR FOR EU PURCHASERS FROM 1 JAN 2021
  7. I've got a sneaky suspicion the Ampero Stomp could be released at NAMM 2021. I've just managed to release some funds back into the gear pot so I'm very much looking forward to seeing whether it does and also what else crawls out the woodwork on the multifx front. HX Effects will be 3 years old shortly and just wondering whether Line 6 will be updating any of their hardware to react to some of the competition starting to snap at their heels?
  8. That's a useful tip - just up the road from me!
  9. Just rediscovered an older thread which covered a fair bit of the same ground: Where next after a Stagg...... - EUB and Double Bass - Basschat and, in particular, this excellent post from @Staggering on which I've taken the liberty of re-posting here.
  10. Haha, most things on most basses are just fine! And of course there are refinements here and there eg lighter tuners, John East Retro preamps, less bland / sterile pups. Fortunately very few folk moan about the Yammy preamp or pups! Similarly, not all nuts are the same either. Yammy provide a better quality nut on their 1024/5 than they do on their 424/5 for example. The nut on my Ken Smith is superb with individual saddles cast in the metal. Do check out the brass Warwick Just a Nut III - that ability to raise and lower string height at the nut as well as the bridge is a very neat feature.
  11. The Just a Nut is pretty neat. It would be an upgrade to most nuts.
  12. Wonder if anyone has considered using a Warwick adjustable 'Just a Nut' on their Yammy basses (or whether they would even fit!)?
  13. A term of endearment for us Yammy owners and lovers. A bit like Red Sox, right? 😁
  14. Mint Helix HX Effects, with original box and materials. Very light home use only. Additional laptop protective sleeve included in the price. Add £10 P&P for guaranteed next day UK delivery.
  15. Yeah and I've been having fun with my 41" scale this evening and not being moaning about the stretch at all (but it's only a 4 string) 😁
  16. Single mum and pensioners' Ingoldmells caravan holidays ruined by lying Glen Parva fraudster - Leicestershire Live (leicestermercury.co.uk) (Apologies if this is very old news on this thread!)
  17. Yammy have been using laminate body design for a while. And same for their necks. Nothing new in that for them and partly why you will find precious little complaint about construction quality from their army of happy fans!

    Cioks DC7 heat?

Having had both Cioks and OneSpot (both excellent btw), I've also been very happy with my HB Iso-5 which is definitely 'quality budget'. I've just seen they've also got an Iso-12 out which puts out a full 3A but with twelve isolated outputs. Could be just the ticket for a slightly larger board build for more than the 7 pedals I've got on my current board anf which the Iso-5 handles really well. Only issue I have is the Iso-12 is slightly 'higher' at 192 x 70 x 30 mm (vs the tiny Iso-5 at 110 x 60 x 20 mm) and not sure I'd have enough clearance below my Metro 24 board. @jjl5590I noticed you had managed to swap out the 'bolted' rubber feet on your Metro board for ones with better clearance which you've screwed in - was that a pretty easy 'hack'?
  19. Always been tempted by Overwaters - how did you rate it?
  20. Know what you mean. 1" can make a surprising amount of difference in terms of getting used to the hand-stretch and I don't have particularly small hands. My Spector has narrower string spacing (17mm / 35" scale) which helps in terms of overall stretch, but still took a little getting used to even compared to my Yammys (18mm / 34").
  21. @knicknack (aka Switcharoo?) - loved the format of that comparison video: great job! The OC-5 pretty much nails the OC-2 to my non-connoisseur ears. From your further comment, also cool that it has more headroom on the sub-only setting vs the familiar volume loss on the OC-2. Why go boutique when you can go Boss and for a fraction of the price? 😁
  22. Well we obviously need 'proof' in the form of some pics 😁 How are you liking it so far and how does it stack up against your other basses? I'm loving the fact that several have gone straight in with some of the top end models as your first taste of Yammy BBs!

    Cioks DC7 heat?

Agreed with @itu The current draw for the Stomp may well be < 3A though: How to power Line 6 HX Stomp, HX Effects and others with CIOKS DC7 - YouTube At 13.26 he provides a summary of power draw for the various Line 6 multis and is suggesting < 1amp for the Stomp. However this is just in power-up mode. I suspect if you are using patches that require full fat DSP utilisation then the power consumption would increase (although I'll leave that to more expert engineers amongst us e.g. @Woodinblack to confirm), but even then I'm not aware of other folk having problems with using just two outputs from the DC7, which provides circa 1.3A output, having issues with powering either their Helix HX Effects or Stomps.
  24. "Wall of shame" on the OP updated. This is fast becoming the single most popular model owned by BCers! Do you have any other Yammy BBs or is this your first? Has Mrs Santa allowed you to play it or are you going to have to wait for Thursday at one minute past midnight? 😁
  25. Yeah completely relate - and the worst for me was when I played my first couple of gigs with a 5er and found myself on the wrong string. Sudden loss of confidence / playing 'air bass' till the end of that particular song - lol! Started playing 5's pretty much exclusively after that to get my muscle memory in shape but soon realised I was enjoying the added positional 'freedom' and didn't want to go back to a 4...
