1.
Firstly, try not to sound like a double bass - you need to fill similar sonic space to an upright rather than 'sound like' one. You need to swing, not to sound like a double bass.
Well said.
2. Another option might be to grab some Thomastik Jazz Flatwounds and play at the base of the neck. Have never needed any bridge mutes with these strings as they are very, very mellow sounding. I've set up my Streamer STD for a similar purpose. Note the added neck thumbrest.
3.
Took advice from above hopefully I'll end up with it!
Why don't you guys just PM each other and take Fleabay out of the equation?
4.
Sent an email to the shop and they agreed a full refund. They refunded me straight away without collecting the bass. I have it boxed up ready to go but no contact from them. Seen a bass on Ebay a Warwick Streamer STD whats the usual price for these second hand? looks in good condition. * Just found the thread on here with it on lol. I have my answer.
The old y2k Streamer STDs are good basses. Be sure to check they aren't later Rockbass versions (nowt wrong with Rockbass, but you want to be sure about what you're buying). The Warwick versions have nicer wenge/ovangkol necks. The green one looks like a nice deal.
5.
Did have a potential buyer but interest seems to have faded. It's depressing looking at this thing propped up against the wall so I'd really like to get it to a new home.
It's depressing not being able to afford it even at this very reasonable price. I need one for my collection! I need a new job first, though.
6.
Tbh a year or two ago it was a bit sad as I got to the point where my personal crusade (spanning 20+ years) to find the best of the best from Warwick led to me starting to collect Warwicks for the sake of being able to say that I had more than anyone else! However, after holding a friend together after a near fatal motorbike crash the status of owning stuff has kinda lost its appeal and owning a particular bass doesn't mean much anymore.... I can sound like a bag of shyte on most basses. This epiphany has allowed me to kind of settle on the amp & cab that I have at present and virtually any of the basses that I have will give me a decent tone, so I'm going to keep a couple of the less luxurious models and just have a dabble with a few basses bought from the 'pot' that I will have from these sales. Sadowsky you say... hmmm!
Ah, I see. Well why not? There's plenty out there to try!
7.
Price added and more pics available upon request.
So what's the deal with all this selling? Do you have your eye on something else? Had enough of Warwicks? Will you change your name to "Sadowskyhunt" or something?
8. The damp towel trick works a treat. If the black marker trick doesn't work out then check out the www.warwick.de forum. Someone there might know about a stain you could buy and use.
9. If you decide to keep hold of it you could always upgrade. I dropped a Seymour Duncan active circuit into mine and it really came alive.
10. No need to buy dodgy basses with £200! That amount buys all of these as new:- http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/options.php?id=76972 http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/options.php?id=3449 http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/options.php?id=580 As others have said Rockbasses can be had secondhand for £200. There's also likely to be lots of other decent stuff for sale on this site for that price. How's about these....? http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=38655 http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=38699 http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=33777&st=0 The last link in particular is a great deal. You're spolit for choice!
11. Love it, but I too much prefer the covered pups.
12.
NO LEDs!!!!
No need, that finish glows enough already!
13. Whoa, that's brilliant. How much would one cost if you DID decide to sell them? It would sit snugly between my Thumbs. :brow: I'm loving this bass because it fills a very specific niche - a simple, elegant fretless. I'm sure you could sell a few on here. I can see a little Thumb/SR505 influence in there, by the way....
14. You can definitely get at least 1k for it, no problem.
15. If its a non-Rockbass version then start at around £200ish as Ben said.
16. I think it looks brilliant.
17. Looks better with the Hammers colours, IMHO.
18. Awesome. OTT of course, but then it's meant to be. It's not designed to be played, it's designed to get Ritter more attention!
19. There's also a second hand shortscale Encore P for sale here.... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=35673
20.
My ten year old son is starting to take an interest in playing bass but my precision is too big and heavy for him. Bearing in mind he might get bored of it fairly quickly, can anyone recommend a lightweight short scale bass that doesn't go for Guild Starfire type money?
How about a Squier Bronco? http://www.squierguitars.com/products/sear...rtno=0310902558
21. Whoa, I didn't even know that they made this in an entry level model! Can't afford this one at the moment, but I can add another bass to my list of potentials...
22. Ibanez SR500? Slim neck, nice woods, bart pickups, very decent price..... http://www.guitar.co.uk/guitars/bass/1449-...500_bass_guitar
23. If they do a Squier sign me up!
24. £400 is a decent price, but unfortunately £400 more than I have to spend, so have a bump.
