    Obviously someone at the Warwick factory made a pigs ear of a batch..... Shame it's not a fiver, I'd grab this and re-finish it in oil.

    Mmm, the Shuker option is one I hadn't thought of. The Sandbergs also look brilliant.

    I'm keeping an eye out for a 5 but also have a rather disturbing urge to get a P-bass shape/config! I know about Sadowskys, the Fender American Standard V and the Sandberg P5 but was wondering if there are any other options (especially at a more mid-level price). There seems to be lack of mid priced instruments of this type, so I guess demand ain't that high!

    Being a huge Talk Talk fan I obviously hate the No Doubt version! For me the playing on the original is far superior. In any case have fun with it, it's great bass line.

    Sorry! Prefer natural finish Warwicks and couldn't bear to strip off the original blue, so have a bump instead!

    Squiers and Yamahas are great for the price, and hold their value well. I'd recommend them over Curbow/Tanglewood. Also try the thread below.     I can actually get a great Deaky tone with my Thumb NT by using the neck pup, maxing the mid dial flattening the treble and bass. Deaky playing a Thumb bass just wouldn't have been right, though!

    Some ding pics, as requested by Kevbass. It's been well used, but looked after! There are few dings on the back and underside edge. None breaks the finish.

    I'd try Pacer Zap CA rather than the Loctite. It's very thin stuff and will easily fill out the crack. [url="http://www.zapglue.com/"]Zap Glue.[/url]

    So I've dropped some cash on a Squier 5 string, but have some questions about replacing the pickups. This bass uses [b]two J pickups[/b] rather than a P-J configuration. What makes should I consider? I'm familiar with all the brands - Bartolini, EMG etc, but am wondering which would work best wired into the stock passive electronics. I'm not looking for colourless reproduction, I'm after the most tone and character I can get from the bass. I'm all about the midrange. Cheers-
