3. Mmm. This is an odd one. The divots on the body next to the neck aren't familiar to me. I've never seen that shape before. The neck looks like ovangkol to me - it can vary in shade. It could be a replacement done by Warwick themselves, though they usually stamp the new neck with the serial from the original. Most of the 90s necks should be Wenge. Still a decent bit of wood though. P.S. The the truss rod cover plate appears to be on upside down!
 4. Hey, You make some great points. If your approach works for you then that's great. I'm personally a fan of dense, high quality exotic woods so Warwicks make sense to me. I find they also give a thicker tone than cheaper woods - I'm not a fan of effects so I like my basses to have a really characterful sound in of themselves. All of mine have been obtained second hand for no more than £1k so they're not too extravagant. Having said that you can get a real bargain if you keep your eye out. A friend of mine got an old Fender MIM for £100 from Crack Converters and its a total peach for the money!

 6. Uh oh, so this has cropped up before, then? If this thread is going to get nasty then I won't argue if it gets nuked...
 7. Was just wondering about what seems to be a recent trend towards asking for PM offers in the "For Sale" section. I can certainly understand sellers wanting to get the maximum possible for their gear, but doesn't this practice risk turning the the "For Sale" section into more of a "Sealed-bid Auctions" area? I have no particular axe to grind, but I'd love to hear everyone's views....

 9. Hey, I wouldn't worry too much - the cool thing about Warwick oil finishes is that if the NT does get badly scratched you can easily smooth the area down with a Brillo pad and re-wax. All fixed! Try doing that with a cracked poly finish! I've had to do this to various Warwicks over the years and it works a treat.
Thanks Havent really played this bass live until the last month or so- thought it was too expensive but once I decided to sell the Marcus have really got into the Thumb. I Do watch it closely at gigs though and have warned the band not to make any sudden moves if they are near me- but the inevitable will happen I suppose!! cheers Bob
10. Where are you based? I hope you don't mind me saying, but naming a ballpark price would help, otherwise sales can turn into secret auctions...... Cheers-
 11. Hi, A German Warwick will usually have a Wenge or Wenge/Ovangkol neck (depending on its vintage) and usually a premium body wood - (Ovangkol, Bubinga, Flamed Maple, Swamp Ash etc). They will also have better electronics. They sound superior as a result of this. The Rockbasses are made in East Asia, usually with Maple/Rosewood necks, an Alder body and cheaper hardware and electronics. All the info on the models can be found here. http://www.warwick.de/modules/start/start.php If it's a Corvette you are after I'd you might want to hold out for a second-hand Warwick Corvette on the "For Sale" board - they can be bought for very reasonable prices. If you want to buy a new one then Thomann are doing a good price on Corvettes at the moment:- http://www.thomann.de/gb/warwick_corvette_std_4_nat.htm If you want to buy a Rockbass then you should wait untill next year when they release the new Rockbass range. These will ditch the nasty "Rockbass" logo and have a two piece bridge like the German models. Hope that helps!
Can anyone tell me the differences between the Rockbass and the standard Corvette Basses. I know the Rockbass is the cheap end, but what makes the range get more expensive?
12. Guitar shop staff can be a nightmare, but I suppose that for every one guy who is happy to be in the musical retail business there are another three nursing broken dreams of rock stardom.
 13. The Sadowskys I've tried have been lovely, but in my opinion they are definitely more "polite" sounding to me than Fenders. If you're looking for a silky smooth tone then that's great, but the Fenders do seem to have more "attitude". This is possibly down to their more basic electronics. I also agree with Fender upping their game in recent years, having been underwhelmed in the past . I have my eyes out for a nice P Bass to go with my Warwicks and have been impressed by the latest MIM/MIA models.
 14.
The HIDEOUS three dots!
Could you not make a little maple plug to fill the middle one in? Or perhaps a glue and maple sawdust filler?
 15.
Anyone interested in a Thumb BO?
Always, but I already have two! Here's a bump for you. Good luck with the sale.
 16. I think you need to be a bit clearer about your price expectations. Just saying.
 17. Warwick! A second hand Corvette $$ 5 string should give you a huge growly sound for not too much money. The Ibanez SR505 is also a great call. You might also want to try a good old Fender P bass strung BEAD. That should give a really punchy tone.
 18. Great basses. Am tempted to pick up a fretless Thunder if I can find one.

 21.
i can not tell you how funny that is.

As far as I remember, He's said that Under the Bridge and Munky Monks were on a Stingray5 and Aeroplane off One Hot Minute was on a Stingray. Any others?
Oops, some ruffled feathers? I come in peace, honest! I definitely saw footage of him playing a Wal in the BSSM sessions back in the day. It's probably on Youtube by now. Either way it really doesn't matter in the great scheme of things. His demands for endorsements seem very OTT, by the way.
