1. Beeswing; Richard Thompson Magdelene Laundries; Christy Moore (cover of a Joni Mitchell track} ...are 2 that stick in my mind.
  2.
And I'd really like to have explained to me exactly how the chart success of a department-store advert tune functions as an indicator of any kind of quality or talent. Or indeed why I should show "respect" - whatever that is - to those who purvey such things. Jon.
Me too....if she can't handle, or her brother can't handle her getting slagged off, then she and he are in the wrong business...i stand by my first opinion and not because i dislike Elton John, his early work is pretty damn good...this cover is not.
  3.
I never listen to women. On record and privately. They're all concieted, lying, money-grabbing morons and they make me sick. True story. Truckstop
Bloody feminist
  4.
I think it's alright.
I think that it's annoying, twee, sh*te..as is everything else i've heard from her.
  5. I've just had a llisten to the version on 40 licks and it doesn't sound so very far out of tune... if at all.
  6.
Maybe it was custom built by a Mexican though...?
Yeah, a fake mexican.
  7. Faker than a fake thing at a forgery convention and is it just me ? but do those 'inlays' look like Scotchbrite reflective tape for bikes and sh*t?
  8.
Eh?
He's talking about the stuff Woolies used to sell in the 70's.
  9.
I wear them because I like to look like Audrey Hepburn
MASSIVE FAIL!, your nose is too big.
  10.
I've never really gotten into them but, to be honest, I haven't tried too hard. As someone who can't get enough classic rock these days, where should I start with these guys?
Live At Budokan is as good as place to start as any.
  11. Most pbasses have foam under the pups to lift them when you adjust....the ones on this bass are probably perished and have lost their elasticity.
  12. Back on sale due to the buyer needing the bass by today and my courier letting me down.
  13.
Does the sale include a case of any kind?
Nope, sorry.
  14. Back on sale due to the buyer needing the bass by today and my courier letting me down. Have a Mexican Jazz Bass in Sunburst for sale. Comes with pick up covers and has a black control plate fitted, though i have the original control plate and pickguard which the buyer can also have. Condition is good with some slight marks on the neck where someone has been playing with a ring on...none of the marks are through the varnish. It also has a small chip on the lower edge of the body. Other than these flaws the bass is in pretty good nick, neck is straight and truss rod working. ASking price; £225 inc courier, payment by Bank Transfer only, No Trades thank you. For pics of the bass please click the link for Flickr in my sig.
  15.
I blame the Third Reich.
I blame Steve Reich
  16. And don't get me started on Is she Really Going Out With Him?
  17. Anybody else think that Joe Jacksons' Stepping out is about as sublime as pop gets?
  18.
Its not a precision, its just a 50's Tele bass i think!
Wrong, it's, as the seller says, a Classic Vibe 50's precision.
  19. I had an Epi Les Paul , it came with bridge on squint, which i straightened up myself as i couldn't be arsed sending it back. Soundwise it was quite good and other than the bridge, was quite well made and nice and light. Doesn't have a contoured body like the ESP though.
  20.
Michael I've spent most of my working life interviewing 'rock stars' and I'm afraid I have to report that Mr Zevon was the most egocentric and downright nasty. All the more disappointing since I was a big fan of his work. The book explains a lot!
Yeah, being a lover of his music and lyrics i was kinda disappointed to find out how much of a shitheel he was...at least according to Crystal that is.
  21. I think Sterling Ball may have anger management issues , in addition to being a cock that is.

    OldGit

Very shocked and very sorry to hear this news. RIP Oldgit.
  23.
Sid was so awful that Steve re-recorded all the crap Sid had put down. Sid was just a poster boy, planted by Malcolm McLaren to make them look the part.
For proof of how bad Sid was, listen to Live At Winterland for the first few tracks, i'm sure that i read that the plug was pulled after the first few tracks and a roady then took over.
  24. Having fitted one briefly to my mexi jazz i would say don't bother, you'll soon get fed up with it being in the way anyway
