1. I'm amp head and cab-less ATM, but new kit is on the horizon. How would you guys feel about gear in flight cases in the shed?
2. The first proper rig I had was a secondhand HH from a friend of a friend. 1x15, 2x10, and supposedly a 600w head. Whenever he played through it it sounded full, rich, and clear, with loads of headroom. Whenever I used it, it would be woolier than a wooly mammoth. And barely audible. So quiet. I then sold it back to him, at which point he said "had I used the input bridging to get the volume output?" Doh! I then bought a massive trace rig. 2x15, 4x10, brightbox, and the 1000w head. It was stunning if I could turn it up past 1, which was very infrequently. Too big for small gigs, then couldn't use the potential on big gigs because nobody else on stage could hear themselves. It was capable of killing the front row. Awesome piece of kit. I have been doing sound for a local band for the past 10 years, the bass player had this god awful Ashdown combo. Took no care of it at all. Just no tone or power at all. It was only when we did a local music festival, with back line provided, that I got him a bass sound. Ampeg STV and 8x10. What was killing his sound was his small pedal board with a compressor and a limiter on it turned pretty much to max which he didn't use through the Ampeg. Next gig back on the Ashdown, no pedalboard, no difference. Still dirge.
3. What woods on the body, neck and finger board, please? Do you have a hard case to ship in? Cheers.
4. I'm guilty of the "arrange your own courier". But I sold an old Marshall cab a few weeks ago to a guy in France. To be honest I thought it was going to be ridiculusly expensive. That's why I didn't offer postage. He arranged the courier, I packed it in bubble wrap and a bike box. It cost him £26. Took me about an hour all in. And that was collecting the packaging materials. 5.
BBS - As and when I get GG private stock 5 then I will not be selling it, and even if you can find one 2ndhand expect to pay at least 2k more for it.
I know. They are rarer than rocking horse poo, wrapped in dragon scales and sprinkled in ground unicorn horn. Just wishfull thinking......
6. That's bootiful. Shame it's not a 5....... You know the rest.
7. Shame it's not a 5....... You know the rest.
8. Sciatica inducing: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Twin-neck-bass-Overw...4#ht_500wt_1156 Does this belong to someone on the forum?
9. Personally the Fortress is my choice of the Warwick stable. Less and less good ones about now. The MM pickup really does growl like a bear with a sore throat. Like I said, if only.........
10. Absolutely stunning. It's a shame it's not a 5. Otherwise..... You know the rest! Good luck with the sale. The Fortress is an acquired taste. Some say Marmite. But then again I like Marmite.
11. This takes me back a bit. I had an early 90s version of this rig. 18, 15, & 4x10s. I remember going to an audition for a metal band and rocking up with this. It was the only time I could turn it on. At home was never an option. The look on the guitarists face when he turned up with his Laney 1x12 combo was priceless. Outgunned was an understatement. It was a very loud rig. The 18 would move the moon when I played 16ths on the b string. Sadly my back just wouldn't cope now. Someone will certainly get a bargain with this. And a lot less space. Have a bump on me.
12.
Cheers, you're more than welcome to make an offer
There's making an offer and then there is taking the piss.
13. I have so much Warwick GAS at the moment. Just a little too rich for me. Have a BUMP.
14. That is certainly wetter than a wet dream. Shame about the wear. Is it through to the wood? Or just surface? You say the sound is full spectrum, is it very clean? I'm sort of tempted, mainly because you won't see anyone else with one. But I've got serious Warwick GAS at the moment.
15. Stunning bass. If it was a 5 string I'd be all over this like a bad rash. Good luck BUMP.
