  1. Elites are my favourites! I love the brightness. Im allergic to nickel so was forced to try stainless and Elites have been my go to for years!
  2. This guy is also a good bet for teaching techniques. He caters for pretty much all levels of bass players and has a good clear way of coming across. Worth subscribing.
  3. Ive just had baked potatoes (slow cooked in the oven with oil and salt rubbed on the skins to make them crispy) with cheese for lunch but I am rather partial to a nice steak done in a nice restaurant as well. Does that make me a sell out?
  4. This was a surprising find a good few years ago. I love it!
  5. Hollie Cook is the daughter of Sex Pistols drummer Paul Cook
  6. Salmonella Dub and The Black Seeds are New Zealand bands. I have all of their material and believe me, its worth it. I am a dyed in the wool rocker but reggae has always held a special place in my heart.
  7. Some of my favourites. I realise some of it might not be for Reggae purists but I think music should do the talking and sod everything else.
  8. I like to jazz up my beans with curry powder or chillis. Plain old beans are boring. Unless you use Branston beans. They are much saucier.
  9. I am actually quite jealous of you. I wish I was beginning my bass life with all the tools that are available for you these days. Back when I were a lad, we had to move the record stylus back and forth on t' turntable to learn our parts. You try telling the kids of today! 😏
  10. Don't worry too much about playing open strings. Obviously an open string will ring out until you stop it. This can sound messy if you don't do it immediately. Why she plays open A for this song is beyond me when clearly the A at the fifth is clearer and easier to play. It's obviously her style and is in no way beneficial to the song. You will eventually get used to muting with other fingers and it will soon be second nature.
  11. I have found their tabs to be very hit and miss. Some stuff I can see is just plain wrong. I used to use Songster as you can play along with it but even that had wrong tabs sometimes. I think the trouble with these sites is, its people sending in their interpretation of a song and its not necessarily correct. It isn't endorsed by the original artists.
  12. Not quite the suction that Lemmy was used to!
  13. 100 squid for a pick up is pretty steep when you don't know what you are getting right enough. Maybe his pick up breaks up too for all I know. I can maybe message him. I will keep it in mind and thanks for the info. Obviously at this time I won't be spending any great amounts on toys due to being furloughed.
  14. We used to play this years ago. I am the singer as well as bass player and I found it much easier to play the A at the fifth. I never had the option of learning from YouTube at the time but open strings are harder to control from ringing out, especially for a beginner who isn't used to muting. It's all down to taste I suppose. If you want to be playing it note for note with the real thing then fair enough but I prefer playing what I find easier.
  15. You wouldn't happen to have his contact details would you dear chap?
