  1. I would give up on that one mate. Even if lockdown stops tomorrow I reckon gigs will take a while after that to get going.
  2. I had booked holidays for the two gigs. I don't know whether to wait until I can see when the gigs will be rescheduled or use my holidays once the lockdown is over.
  3. I went into a bar once and I saw a band playing. The singer had his back to the audience. 😕
  4. You are correct sir. One year out. There was rather a lot of things taken round then so my mind is cloudy 😉 I was standing round about level with this cameraman but on the right hand side of the stage. We were right down the front at one point. How that guy held a camera, which would have been big back in '88, I will never know because it was a real struggle to keep your feet at some points!
  5. A troubled genius! Yes I did/do love Nirvana. Another band that didn't set the world on fire wit their musicianship but the lyrics and hooks were superb and they were instrumental in starting the grunge scene.
  6. I would disagree mate. We have a beach just out of town. I always used to drive there to walk the dog. Ive heard people have been told to go home from there by the Police. No shops open, streets empty, no bars, no entertainment. I know by the strictest definition of the word it isn't a lockdown but I would say its pedantic to say it isn't actually a lockdown. edit: Plus if it was a complete lockdown, how could anyone survive for 6 weeks?
  7. I am just worried about who will reschedule and who will just say sod it, we aint bothering!
  8. The most over rated band I have ever seen live was Sigue Sigue Sputnik. They were huge at the time and when we saw them they were terrible. It became clear that Tony James was the only real musician in the band and all the others had been recruited for their image rather than musical prowess They were not tight at all, making mistakes all over the place. It was actually embarrassing to watch. Maybe there was some under lying reason, drugs perhaps but they were rank rotten.
  9. In light of the recent situation the "who are you seeing next?" thread has become somewhat redundant. I just thought I might ask who you would have seen if the lockdown hadn't stopped all forms of musical enjoyment. Personally we have missed Saxon- Was looking forward to this as they were the first band I ever saw live. Rammstein- Very disappointed as we love them and are worried that they won't come back, speaking of which, a few years ago we had tickets to see The Foo Fighters and The Black Keys. Both were cancelled due to injuries to personnel. Dave Grohl broken leg, Patrick sore shoulder. the Foos came back within a couple of months with Dave playing in a chair and The Black keys have never come back. It shows who cares about their fans more!
  10. I read after Slipknot had released an album years ago that people were accusing them of selling out because they had dared to come out with slightly less heavy songs with more normal singing. Do these people expect bands to just churn out different versions of the same album year after year? I know certain bands can do this successfully (AC/DC for example) but that is a formula that works. Most bands have to evolve and usually it isn't to everyones taste. It take a real über fan to like everything an artist has done throughout a 40 year career.
  11. I agree that Coldplay and U2 and Elbow are over rated and most is not my cup of tea but they do have SOME really good songs. That Arabesque by Coldplay is really good, Vertigo by U2 is a decent song too. I like Winger and have most of their material.
  12. It's clear that if you like something its under rated. If you don't, it's over rated. I think the Beatles are over rated. I can't stand The Doors or The Who. I do appreciate the music they have made has been loved by millions and they have inspired thousands of other bands, it's just that I don't care for them. There are plenty of artists in my collection that people would hate. My collection goes from Mozart to Infant Annihilator with a fair smattering of genres in between.
  13. I was a massive fan when they came out and I was lucky enough to see them at Donningtion in '87. (The year two boys sadly got killed). They were superb and the crowd was going mental for them. I agree that now they are just a shadow of the classic line up.
  14. I love Bob Mould, Sugar and Hüsker Du but I also love The Pet Shop Boys. Bowie I can take or leave
  15. Bit of forward planning needed to watch that 🤔
  16. Yeah, you should go for this. If you could pm me your address I will help watch it for you just in case someone nicks it.
  17. I don't wear the argument that hanging a bass is any strain on the neck. Its not putting any strain at all on the instrument. All my guitars are hung on wall hangers and I have never experienced any neck problems.
  18. I admit that putting power to four different speakers is a pain but the resulting sound is awesome from the Electrovoice speakers and you have control at the speaker as well as the desk.
  19. Totally agree, just because someone can't play complicated musical pieces doesn't mean they are not talented. Being able to come up with a hook line that is catchy and gets peoples attention is talent in itself. Look at Kiss. Arguably they are not the best musicians in the world but they have produced more hit songs than most. I grew up with Kiss and The Ramones, AC/DC etc. None of these bands could be described as technically incredible but all came up with amazing songs which have stamped their place in musical history. As I said before, I don't particularly like the Beatles but I would love to have been able to write just one of their many hits.
  20. Well spotted, a typo there is no excuse for as I know who he is only too well.
  21. I don't like the Beatles. I just can't stand their songs but I do realise that they were hugely influential towards other bands and I respect that others love them. I wish other people would realise that some bands might not be their cup of tea but have made a real name for themselves and made ground breaking music. The Ramones were one, Rush, AC/DC, Michael Jackson, Bob Dylan to name just a few others. All bands or artists that have influenced other bands, yet are disliked by many.
