Never even heard of it. It sounds like a great show. Typical I hear about it when it's finishing, still, maybe I can get it on some kind of catch up

I can't see the advantage of this service , why not add a click and collect from your neighbour button?

We DO try to mix things up a bit. We try and pick songs that are popular but not overplayed. We try to do slightly different versions of songs too. The thing is, the songs that go down best are the ones that have been travelled the most ie. The same dirge that we all seem to hate playing. As for playing rock songs because they are easier. I think that's not totally true. Disco songs tend to need a horn section or at least a keyboard. We have neither, so a lot of songs are not accessible to us. If someone says you can still do a version , fair enough, but it would be thin and we couldn't do it justice. I like to think we are pretty good and are not playing songs because that's all we can play. Unfortunately up this way , they like what they like and numerous bands have tried something different and floundered

No offence, but why do we need to know what key your set lists are played in? The audience certainly wont !

We do try to play off the beaten track type material but up this way, punters ask for the same old crud, so we are forced to include a smattering of the usual. It breaks my heart to play brown eyed girl or wagon wheel but it's what they dance to. We tried playing a set of exclusively good but more obscure songs for a bit but got embarrassing silences after finishing and had to resort to the tried and tested. Maybe you shouldn't judge bands harshly if they have the same set list. It's quite likely that they have learned the hard way that that's what they have to play!

I've been playing for about 35 years, but wear my bass quite low, so maybe that's where the difference lies

[/quote] Couldn't agree more! I've struggled in the past when we have played a new song live and I've exclusively rehearsed it sitting down. The whole experience is different. We rehearse in one of my spare rooms and we all sit on wooden chairs , which are slightly better than reclining in a sofa. I much prefer playing everything standing up as that's the way you perform it.

[/quote] Completely agree mate. Who wants a complete stranger coming over condescendingly telling them they have got it wrong? Like it or not, that's the way a lot of people will take it. I totally agree that if I know the band, I would be willing to help from an audience perspective, but you don't know these people, they don't know you. You could just be some knob that has no clue but thinks he does.

Ticket master seem to work on the principle that if they have 2000 tickets say. 500 go to getmein, 500 go to viagogo and the other 1000 are sold normally. It's legalised touting and is shocking!

We went to see them at Hampden and I thought it was amazing. It was very loud but it was pretty clear. I first seen them on the back in black tour( I was offered a ticket for the highway to hell tour and turned it down, so I am forever haunted by this) I seen them again on the for those about to rock tour and then again at Donnington. When they took to the stage, I must confess, I had a bit of an emotional moment as they were my first love! Brilliant! Just a good rock band !

As has been mentioned, if a band that has nothing to do with you in a random bar, has a rotten sound, then you should leave them to it. No matter how much you might know, you are in danger of annoying them, so why risk it? I don't like "experts" coming and giving unsolicited advice and I would not offer it unless I knew the band or I was asked.

It's people coming up willy nilly and telling you to do this or that that gets me !

Glastonbury is no longer a music festival. People have their tickets bought long before any of the acts have been booked, so you never know who's going to be playing. There are so many stages and other things going on that it's become ridiculous

[/quote] Exactly mate, I can't understand why it's us that have "experts" telling us what to do when we know we have a decent sound yet when we see other bands that maybe have a poor sound, no one is telling them to turn this up or turn this down. I just think it's a cheek. As stated, if it's a poor sound, that's up to the band in question to sort it out. They don't know who I am unless it's another local band. We usually take a walk out front when fully underway which gives you a decent chance to hear what's going on.

To be honest, I get cheesed off with so called experts coming up and telling us how to do it. I would never dream of going up to a band and telling them to change settings unless I knew them or they asked me. I remember hearing a local band sound checking and giving them the thumbs up and saying sounds perfect guys The guitarist says oh, I can't hear the keys. So they turned up the keyboard and after that all we could hear was keyboard drowning out everything else I just thought, right, I'm not helping anymore. I thought an opinion from a known musician sitting in the audience would have counted for something

It's obviously down to taste in your sound, because I have tried lots of different strings, and find none will last more than two or three gigs before losing brightness. I just love the new string ring. I remember reading about the bass player off of Wet Wet Wet, and he said his strings lasted him 3 hours! I suppose he had the luxury of not having to pay for his own, but unfortunately, I am struck with the same malady!
