  1. I'm not sure it can be that, assuming any amplifier input would be a mono jack input it wouldn't have a connection to the amp. Edit: I'd guess a regular mono cable shorts between the tip and ground connection, but by using a stereo cable the "short" connection is touching the ring and not shorting the tip to ground. A new jack socket would sort it, though it might be that the existing one has bent a bit.
  2. Me too 😂. One of the deciding factors for me getting a BF Super was so the PA/DI feed was comparable to the cab sound.
  3. I'm in a 100% instrumental band - we don't even do instrumental versions of "vocal" songs. It's tough at times, but if punters go with the concept the gigs can be marvelous. Shameless plug .. https://youtu.be/ZqDNmTUaiQc
  4. As finding strings might be a challenge I'd suggest you put a reverse headstock on it so the E and A strings have more chance of being into the tapered part before reaching the tuning peg.
  5. If you're concerned with the bridge moving you could always put some masking tape on the body by the bridge and mark it's exact position before you start slackening the strings.
  6. The screws are there to hold the tailpiece anchor in position -the load of the anchor is on the end of the instrument, not the screws themselves. So I'd think removing it will be fine. You could always take the a lot of tension off the strings as a precaution.
  7. The trailer looks worrying 😞, but I live in hope that the episodes will be as good as Steve Jones' autobiography. Danny Boyle's involvement is a another beacon of hope.
  8. Thanks for the tip off, very useful
  9. Seems like in pre-internet era that question would be difficult to answer in full, even for a major Crue-head. I wonder if someone from the show just sold it. I'd also love to know if it's still out there. Hopefully a fan did actually win it.
  10. Kiss - Alive (yes, I know it isn't) Ramones - It's Alive The Ventures - Live In Japan '65
  11. Thank both. I was just about to ask the same question, and found this helpful thread.
  12. Oh yeah. Just the right amount of mojo.
  13. Do you need to plug a dummy jack into the effects send to switch the loop on?
  14. More evidence that Gene Simmons is an underrated bassist.
  15. I've recently acquired a Digitech Drop pedal and intend to use that as "back up" bass by setting it to octave down and using the band's common spare guitar. It'll be good enough to get through a gig.
  16. My band has just added a 3rd guitarist precisely so we do have spare. We're an instrumental band so it's a bit more crucial when one of the guitarists is in more a "lead singer" role.
  17. The Beach Boys - Wendy. A loud cough in the instrumental break. Once you notice it, you can't un-notice it
  18. This seems to be a point of debate amongst many Jet fans - guitar tuned to D or a Bass VI. I'm just going of what I've read in a Fender book. @grahambythesea what's your source that it was a Bass VI?
  19. I generally dislike white pickguards, however, I think it looks good on silver
  20. The KISS nerd in me always liked the aesthetic Gene using a Thunderbird in the 70s
  21. I'm very much looking forward to the release of this
  22. On the positive side, the purpose of the box is to avoid direct damage to the bass, if boxes never showed damage we wouldn't need them. Good luck all the same
