  1. So......Yet another thread wanders completely off the point and becomes a pointless argument, like two bald men fighting over a comb, and probably causing the OP to lose the will to live trawling through the last two pages trying to find out if there is actually any useful information to be found in them. The short answer is "No". Well done chaps. FWIW, and YMMV, we ran our band (bass, drums, guitar/vox and harmonica)very successfully for many years in pubs and small venues with a pair of passive 12" ElectroVoice, a Yamaha EMX512SC (light as a feather, enough effects for us) and backline. No monitors, and as Happy Jack said we could all hear one another very well at the volumes needed for those types of small spaces. If you can't, you are too loud anyway in my humble opinion. We figured that we were there to entertain, not to pin the punters to the back wall. Set up in 25mins, tear down the same, utterly reliable and easy to transport. And we also used to have the speakers behind us on occasions when space demanded: while we had to be careful about checking frequencies etc. and mic placement we managed it OK on many occasions. That was just us: other folks do it different. .
  2. Put up for sale elsewhere, so if you are considering an offer now is the time!
  3. No interest? Sensible offers considered.....I really would like to find it a new home!
  4. Thanks, did see that but I didn't find it much help TBH. I find it much easier to learn from something written, tab or dots would be great if anyone can help.
  5. Does anyone have a transcription of the bass part for "Nick Of Time" by Bonnie Raitt? I've been asked to do it and I'm really struggling with the riff at the intro... I can't find anything in the usual places! The verse part is fine but my ear is not good enough to pick out the intro. Thanks all.
  6. My spare bass which as I have no plans to resume gigging is surplus to requirements, and even when I was gigging and took it as a spare it was never required (my Hot Rod Precision has never let me down...) so virtually unplayed since I bought it apart from the occasional noodle to make sure it still works! Plays as it should, everything works, fitted with virtually new Roto Monel Flatwounds. A couple of minor marks which I've tried to show in the photos. Happy to deliver locally, or you're welcome to visit and try it for yourself, or meet half way up to a reasonable distance. No case. £995 or a very near offer.
  7. I nearly bought a left handed G&L ASAT bass in blue metallic just because I loved it. However, it had the most horrendous neck dive so I chickened out. I regret that now, as it was really pretty, a reasonable price, played nicely apart from the neck dive issue and I've never seen another one.
  8. From 1956....... personally I love this!
  9. I still use my 20 year old Nissan Almera. Barefaced Compact, two 12" PA speakers and stands, PA desk, LM3 and all the cables plus my bass fit perfectly. Along with my wife in the front seat. According to We Buy Any Old Donkey it's worth the princely sum of £124, so no one is going to steal it and I don't care if I come back and find another ding in it either. MOT'd with no advisories last November, so that's me for another year!
  10. Or maybe you can...... https://shop.audiotronic.fr/en/markbass/270-a50k-potentiometer-for-markbass-amplifiers.html And apparently if you remove the knob, there's a tiny hole which you can spray contact cleaner into, although some people don't recommend it. However, I've just tried to pull the knob off mine and it's super tight so I can't check that.
  11. Try playing along to "Baby Please Don't Go" by Them (Van Morrison). It's half way between E and F so neither sounds right. I assume that's because it was sped up and the pitch changed. We always played it in E 😄.
  12. I was once told "That's not how (insert name of famous bass player) plays it" to which my response was"I'm not him, but by all means give him a call".
  13. Lucky you - I find that when we play, people start leaving gradually throughout the evening.......I'll get my coat.
  14. I am fortunate (?) enought to own a copy of Kenny Everett's " The World Worst Record Show" from which I pluck this gem..... There's plenty more where that came from.....😄
  15. ....and a "friend of mine" had some absolutely monster squidgy black that he referred to as Nepalese Temple Balls - I'm not sure if I remember that correctly though.....😎. I always think of Deep Purple as essentially a blues band, but I don't mind how you call it. I've got just the thirteen albums plus some LP picture discs I bought at Beano's in Croydon many years ago. A bit sad, but hey, it's my life.....
  16. I Think you'll find that Casey Jones was an engineer.......it says so right here.
  17. Sounds like it would be an Elf and Safety issue........ I'll get my coat.
  18. Yeah, but I've had all types of knobs on all types of basses. My American P-Bass has push-on knobs, but my old Squier P-Bass special had chrome knurled knobs with grub screws. Round holes in the knobs not D shaped, so they fit on round shafts or shafts with flats. A change of knob would not be out of the way , if it gets you where you want to be.....
  19. Something like one of these, perhaps...... https://docs.rs-online.com/7ac3/0900766b80ff6d55.pdf CK1037?
  20. Guy's great, as usual, but the interviewer s a bit irritating, plus her camera/mike are not in synch so it's a pita to watch. Like a band miming badly. Best listened to with the screen off. Well worth a listen.
  21. In the clip they interviewed the lead arranger for the band. When asked about the Shaggs singers musicality she gave understatement of the year "I don't think she hears rhythm". Isn't that all singers though?😂
  22. I think I auditioned for them on one occasion....... And didn't get the job!
  23. The position of the machine heads on the back of the head stock looks weird to me - I have two lefite P's, (both USA) and they both have even spacing and they are further away from the edge. This one just looks wrong.....
  24. Not sue about that....We submitted an EP to one of the independent blues radio stations, and they specifically asked if we had the codes embedded. Which we did.
