2.
Once again, although I'm not 'officially' going to bore people to death about compressors or mixing or any of that old tat this year, if anyone has any questions about that sort of thing feel free to accost me in a friendly fashion, never happier than when I'm boring people stupid about recordingy stuff after all

 3.
Dude, bring a 69'er if you've got one around, and maybe a Super 12! Also, as a heads-up, your website's throwing an error right now...
I'm already bringing a 69er.
 4. Best thing I did when starting on DB (and I'm pretty sure this translates to EUB) was get one 2-hour intro lesson from a good teacher. That got me over the initial "well what do I do now?" hump, and avoided picking up bad habits right at the start. We're pretty well served for good bass teachers down here (I was able to use JakesBass) ... no idea who you have near you but you only have to ask.
 5. Bluejay will do it faster than your fingers can move ... Incidentally, am I to understand that there will now be a special seminar by Sir Bradley of Sideburns?
 6. Summer of '76, the Monday night residency by AC/DC. I caught four of them on the trot, routinely getting sprayed with Angus-sweat. ******************************** Monday 21st March 1977, debut appearance for Australian band Strapps. I've never forgotten that gig. It was quite simply the loudest gig I have ever attended, and (like most of you) I've attended some pretty bloody loud gigs. ********************************* July '77, can't remember the date (not surprising, really) but seeing The Damned (spelled correctly!) was the last-ever punk gig I went to. There's only so much being-gobbed-on that a boy can take. ********************************* What that extraordinary list really does for me is to underline just how many great acts I never bothered to go and see.
 7.
Packing is second to none.
... but sometimes completely OTT, and not even a bit Green.
 8.
I played for a darts team years ago and one of the pubs we played at had the gents toilet door between the board and where you stood to throw... Who's idea was that... ridiculous... Rob
You just need to know the House Rules ... earlobe of a passing punter = Double Top.
 9. The body appears to have been relic'd with a blowtorch and some sandpaper.
 10. I haven't yet had to return anything to Thomann (and I've been a regular customer with them for years), so on the one hand I can't offer much advice about returning stuff, but on the other hand you might like to know how rare it is for something to turn up which differs from what you were expecting. At the risk of resorting to cultural stereotypes, my experience of doing business with Germans, ALL Germans, is that they are absolutely punctilious and reliable. I've never yet had a bad experience when dealing with either a German business on t'Net or with a German individual on, for example, eBay.
 11. Rics are probably the most versatile instruments out there. Most basses will get you into a pub or a concert hall, but only a Ric will get you into Court.
 12.
Pub gig to me is 2x45, pubs makes on the bar to pay band. Regular music nights, mainly covers. If the pub has a 'function' room and sells tickets on the door, then not a typical pub gig. IMO
This ... plus the band are contractually obliged to set up in front of the door to the Gents toilet.
 13.
Would like to get to a bass bash.....
If there isn't already a South Wales BassBash you could always start one ...
 14. Good grief chaps, try to keep it simple: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170855100285?lpid=54&device=c&adtype=pla&crdt=0&ff3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=54&ff19=0
 15.
This all sounds great, and I'd love to come along, but apparently I'm busy - moving MissB to uni or something...
Cambridge --> Addlestone/Chertsey for a BassBash would certainly be a show of devotion! You may find that there are two, perhaps three, BassBashes which are held closer to you ...
 16. What is the string spacing (in mm) at the bridge? And where in the north of Italy are you?
 17.
My mate bought this - he's borrowing my Warwick till he collects. I'll give you a report when it arrives
He's done well then ... that's at least £100 less than I'd expected. For £155 that is a serious amount of bass he's bought.

 19. Most memorable moment for me was the inappropriately-dressed 20-something who turned up as part of an inebriated crowd halfway through the second set. Within 10 minutes, she was walking through the pub clutching both a double G&T and a full glass of Chardonnay in her left hand, leaving her right hand free to accept the largest short I've ever seen (I'm guessing it was a triple vodka of some sort) which she knocked back in one. She then stood there in a daze for several minutes, weaving and wobbling and being held up by two friends, while she very obviously considered vomiting over much of the audience. Good times.
 20. Depping on DB at The Troubadour with Dani Molino on Thursday 26th September ... what could possibly go wrong?
