music is an art form, a way to express yourself ...
Not at the school I went to.
We played BOTH kinds of music, classical and rock.
Classical was for nerds and very embarrassed teenagers who tried to keep quiet about playing the bassoon or the viola.
Rock was for long-haired louts who spent a lot of time posing when there were girls nearby, while holding utterly crap guitars with names like 'Avon'.
Express yourself? Not so much ...
My signature has four bands but that is a bit misleading ... the real number varies week to week between two and five.
Right now The Junkyard Dogs and Karena K are both active, Dani Molino has gone to the States to "find himself" (I tried to tell him that I knew where he was, but he wouldn't listen), and King Ralph has gone dormant until next Spring.
Meanwhile I have one new project just getting under way, and another one on the back burner.
Life's too short to waste it.

There are no ad hominem attacks going on here as far as I can see - the criticisms are being levelled at ideas, not people. I was not offended by flyfisher's post - on the contrary, I'm enjoying the debate.

I was actually referring to your gratuitous put-down at post #3.
But you already knew that, didn't you?
I use an empty impact-moulded plastic toolbox, the sort you see in every B&Q or Wickes.
Why?
Because you can stand on it (when putting the PA tops on the poles), sit on it (when taking a break), put the guitarist's combo on it (when he forgets to bring his amp-stand), etc. etc. etc.
Multi-functional. It's the way of the future ...

Is it Icelandic?
EDIT: D'oh! Roland Rock beat me to it with a more specific guess
I was guessing Finnish.
There's an awful lot of tosh talked about 3-piece bands, isn't there?
What does that expression even mean?
Any supposedly 4-piece band with a dedicated singer can be thought of as a 3-piece band, so to Rory, Jimi, Eric et al you can immediately add The Who and The Monkees ... can't remember many Monkees hits with extended guitar solos but then I'm getting old.

Surprised, and disappointed by this aggresive stance, HJ. I hope you change your position on this. Such posturing is not like you, normally so balanced. I hope this tense moment passes and that you straighten up. Get back to where you were.
Sorry to muscle in like this; cordially...

Sorry if I seemed out of joint, my life has been somewhat dislocated recently. I need to get my priorities pinned. Unlike this topic ...
What DB are you playing, what sort of pickup are you using, what sort of music do you do, what volume do you play at, etc. etc. etc.
As usual, the more you tell people, the more they can help.
And now ... for your delight and delectation ... CANDY APPLE RED!

I can only assume that he's completely colour-blind.
Either that or he really, really needs a new camera.
This is the 15-minute talk I did at the South Coast Bass Bash on 31st August. I will probably be doing an expanded version of this at the South East Bass Bash in November, if there's enough interest.

Expecting to feel better by sitting at a desk and watching this is about as smart as hoping to lose weight by reading a diet recipe. Stand up and give it a go.
Try this routine in the safety and comfort of your own home, preferably just before you pick up your bass.
Enjoy.

These aren't the kind of basses one can just try out easily, so it all helps!

Are you coming to the SouthEast BassBash in November?
If so, I can always bring mine for you to try.
