1. Depends on the venue. I am playing a MarkBass 102 plus a 121. In smaller clubs the 102 does alone does a pretty good job. I would give it a try.
2. Eddie Jackson's tone on "Empire" is still killing me. Dave Mero of Spock's Beard as well.
3. Actually I intended to sell this one. But hey, I can not let it go ...
4. Looking to sell this lovely Carvin SB 5000. Hardshell case is included. The bass is as of 2013 and in an immaculate condition (no flaws, dents, scratches at all - if at all minimal sign of wear). Features: - Powerful B-string - One-piece ash body - Translucent Cherry Burst - Mapleneck with Rosewood-Board - Abalone fretboard-Inlays - Knobs with Mother of Pearl inlays - Massive Loking Bridge with String-Through-Body Option - Stringspacing at the bridge 19 mm - Nutwidth: 44,5 mm - Lightweight tuners - Very musical preamp (activ/passive) with Toneknob working in Active mode (similar to Sadowsky VTC) - EQ: Bass and Treble (stacked) - ca. 4,5 kg (bathroom scales) - The active electronics can be adjusted in its level. Thus it can be tweaked to be the same level as passive sound (or to function as a booster, if desired) - Great shape ballance Let me know if you have questions! The bass is located near Munich/Germany. I am happy to ship to UK/Europe.

6. Enjoy your new Sub Ray. They are great! I have three Music Man basses: Big Al SSS, Bongo 5 HH and StingRay 5H. I really did get used to the 4-Band EQ of the Al and Bongo but am still impressed what the 3-Band EQ of the Ray can do (plus my fingers). Nevertheless can't stop looking at a 2-Band Ray. Perhaps a Classic 5 ... someday!
7. I personally do not like the typical spotlight-on-slap-bass-solo. It is weird to present a technique for solo purpose that is used for a maximum of 5% throughout the rest of the gig. But that's just my opinion. I think drums-solos are as lame, too. Even dislike it if perfomed by Mike Portnoy
8. I absolutely agree. Not only soundwise. I remember all the slap tutorials. Sounds so very nice in my living room but I can barely use it ever on stage and if then it drowns in the whole rest ...
9. Hi, Sure it is 4.6 kg on my bathroom scales. Cheers
10. Hi there, I am selling this wonderful 20th Anniversary Music Man Stingray 5 in pristine condition. It did not get a lot of playing through the last years and that's the reason I am selling it. What makes this bass special is the sunset burst flamed maple top, the double humbucker (ALNICO) configuration and the very comfortable neck profile. The shaping of the body differes significantly from the standard Ray5 line and also the neck pocket is more similar to the USA Sterling's pocket. Under the pickups is a mahagony toneblock that gives the tone even more definition. Also note the very nice binding stripe around the body shape. Included is the original Collector's hard case. The bass is located near Munich, Germany. I am willing to ship the bass all over EU mainland/UK i.e. via GLS. Please let me know should you have questions. 11. I've heard from a lot of people playing Gospel with a Sting Ray. Not sure why a KS a would be more qualified.
12. Sorry, I am late. Just found this thread. Honestly, I've been thinking about getting a J&D (Music Store) or Harley Benton (Thomann) Jazz Bass in a nice mint green/surf green (whatever) just for hanging it up on the wall. I know so many people who have art on their wall that is 10 times more expensive and does not look that tasty ;-)
13. Hi Gillento, Not sure I understand your problem. If you are lucky with the LM2 why not stay with it? I am playing a LM3 and am fairly happy with it, because it does not colour my sound. If I need a little grit I switch on an EBS Valve Drive. The only other amps I could imagine to work that way are German Glockenklang Amps (Blue Sky, Blue Soul).
14. Hi there. Near Munich, Germany. I guess there's no chance for a try ;-)
15. I'd go for the Elwood. Like the idea of having team both in fiesta red. The Glockenklang 2-Band EQ is amazing. Had it in my custom Jake 5 for a couple of days to test. Crystall clear tone. And I guess it really makes sense on a Jazz Bass!
16. Thank you. I see you have two instruments from Mensinger as well!

18. Had a Schack Basic Unique 5-String for more than 15 years. Than I started to severly modifying it (Music Man PUs in neck and bridge position). Finally I sold it to get the real thing: A Music Man StingRay. Now I miss it like hell (but would not want to give the Ray back).

Multi effects

The Zoom B3 is excellent for the price. You can use it in addition as a USB Interface to record into any DAW. I use it sometime for Chorus, Flange and Compression. The Tech21 Bassdriver Simulation is impressive, too. The included Octaver has a rather sloppy tracking below A but is still usable. In addition there is a lot to toy around with. You can not make any mistakes with it. Cheers
