[/list] The Double Four is a single channel bass amplifier that has an auxiliary input for ipad/ipod, mp3 or drum machine. It features 3 band EQ that is perfectly tailored for bass guitar, headphone out jack and a line out for recording. It is ideal for all kinds of basses and can handle the open B string on a 5 string bass with ease. The cabinet may be as small as a shoe box but it is built to the same standards of all PJB cabinets, heavily braced internally and damped with acoustic damping materials to prevent cabinet coloration that can kill the true sound of your instrument. What you hear from the Double Four is the closest you can get to how your instrument actually sounds. The Double Four may just be a practice amp but it does not mean that it has to sound like a practice amp.     I know this doesn't help but had this been rosewood, I'd have had it! Great price. There are 3 or 4 US Standards for sale at the moment and they're all maple!

    I'm a staunch Fender fan but this "upgrade" is poor in my opinion. Plus, why get rid of the tortoiseshell on the white and sunburst models?

    How much under £4k? Sounds a little expensive to me if it is anything over £3k. But it's all relative, subjective and personal of course.

    Personally I prefer the sound of a Jazz, always play them in bands and I reckon I'd probably quit if someone told me what instrument I should play. But then I'd never tell a guitarist to use a Strat over a Tele, etc.

    I went on joinmyband a few weeks ago, responded to a few bassist wanted ads, put an advert up myself and it's been a total waste of my time. All discussions went nowhere. I guess people are just bored.

    Personally, I'd like to see Fender continuing with their bread and butter traditional basses while experimenting a little more with other stuff - like what they did with the Steve Bailey 6-string Jazz.

    I'd be very, very surprised if they didn't either carry on as they are now or replace the current passive American built standard series with something else equal with a few minor alterations like they did with the Deluxe to the Elite range.
