1. I know this doesn't help but had this been rosewood, I'd have had it! Great price. There are 3 or 4 US Standards for sale at the moment and they're all maple!
2. I'm a staunch Fender fan but this "upgrade" is poor in my opinion. Plus, why get rid of the tortoiseshell on the white and sunburst models?
3. How much under £4k? Sounds a little expensive to me if it is anything over £3k. But it's all relative, subjective and personal of course.
4. Definitely not an American Jazz Bass.
5. Personally I prefer the sound of a Jazz, always play them in bands and I reckon I'd probably quit if someone told me what instrument I should play. But then I'd never tell a guitarist to use a Strat over a Tele, etc.
6. I went on joinmyband a few weeks ago, responded to a few bassist wanted ads, put an advert up myself and it's been a total waste of my time. All discussions went nowhere. I guess people are just bored.
7. Bump. PJB Double 4 or PJB 100w CUB as partial trade would be good.
8. Tickets booked for Poole. Excited about this!

10.
I`ve sold some stuff I really should have kept hold of, hopefully I`ve learned my lesson now. It`s just that I hear other stuff and really like the sound of it, and then realise that that sound was great in whatever band it was being used in etc, but my sound suits my band the best and I already have the exact right gear for what I need. I`m lucky in some ways that I`ve found the perfect basses for me, the post 2012 US Standard Fender Precisions. I`m so happy with them that I`ve no intention of looking at other basses, it`s amps/cabs that I keep buying, moving old stuff on, then selling the new gear to buy the old stuff again. Just been through it all for the second time, selling my Aguilar Tonehammers, only to then have to buy them again. Hopefully I`ll learn from this that as much as I want a big looking stack, I`m too knacked to be carrying one - even of a 13lb racked amp and Barefaced lightweight 410 & 210 - so it has to be a small Class D amp and a single 2x12 (Barefaced of course) cab. Basically I need to adopt a bit of common sense in both the wallet, the ears, and the back.
The new Fender Professional Series will tempt you Lozz!
11. Personally, I'd like to see Fender continuing with their bread and butter traditional basses while experimenting a little more with other stuff - like what they did with the Steve Bailey 6-string Jazz.
12. From the website. ----- "The 2016 Artisan Postmodern Bass is a thoroughly contemporary combination of Fender’s two most time-honored basses. Its roasted ash Precision Bass body features a gorgeous Tasmanian blackwood top and lacquer finish, paired with tinted quarter sawn AA flame maple Jazz Bass neck with a 1960 Jazz “U”-shaped profile and compound-radius (9.5”-16”) round-laminated rosewood fingerboard. Other premium features include hand wound 1962 Precision Bass® (middle) and Jazz Bass (bridge) pickups, rear-load controls and 1960 Jazz Bass wiring, medium jumbo frets and bone nut, A-string Stealth string retainer, RSD bass bridge, Custom Shop certificate of authenticity and black case." Source: http://www.fendercustomshop.com/series/artisan/artisan-postmodern-bass/ ----- I'm not sure you could particularly refer to this as "contemporary"? I don't dislike it but £3149 is just so overpriced in my opinion. I actually can't believe that pricing.
13. Sorry if this has been posted before - I did a search and couldn't find anything... Anyway - thoughts on it? http://www.fendercustomshop.com/series/artisan/artisan-postmodern-bass/
14. I'd be very, very surprised if they didn't either carry on as they are now or replace the current passive American built standard series with something else equal with a few minor alterations like they did with the Deluxe to the Elite range.
15. Has it been confirmed anywhere by Fender themselves that the American Standard series is being discontinued?
16. I like post-2012 passive American Standard Fenders - hard to find good ones though in my opinion.
