  1. Ah, the all too familiar feeling of seller's remorse. I've been there too often myself. However, you can't have ALL the basses you've ever liked... sadly
  2. Looks a great price, for a bass that's a bit "different". Nice GLWTS Paul - I'm sure it won't be here long
  3. Well you don't see many of these about. Hope the new owner is a happy bunny
  4. Really like the range of tones you're getting from this bass. @Andyjr1515has done a great job with this one. When you first asked whether you should "mod" a bass of this vintage - I initially had some doubts - but of course, it's an "ideal" bass for such alterations, because of the modifications it had already undergone. Plus, you were right to straighten the bridge, and Andy was the right guy to do it. Well done @ped- that's a mighty fine bass you have there. I've only recently picked up short scale again, and I like my Mustang. But perhaps I should consider swapping to similar pickups to yours.... just not quite yet
  5. I have one of these, and it's an amazing cab for its' size and weight. By far the lightest weight cab for its' output that I have come across. Surprisingly loud too. I sometimes wonder what my rig would sound like if I used 2 of these..... but I'd better not act on that question - or I'll be in trouble (too much stuff already! lol) GLWTS
  6. The colour is absolutely awesome! One of the best Jazzes I have seen. And it's a Japan Fender too (always consistently good quality) GLWTS
  7. I missed this sad news yesterday. I must have been too wrapped up in the World cup.... This is such sad news. I saw him live a few times. He appeared at Cambridge Folk Festival several years back, and I can recall the sheer joy he just "exuded" after the Surgeons there had saved his life from the huge tumour he had. As others have said, at least it gave us a bit more time with him. RIP Wilko
  8. Nice looking bass 😀 The wonky bridge might have got on my nerves - visually anyway. But I'd be torn about correcting it, as it then wouldn't align with that rear pickup.... hmm a dilemma. I have a liking for a passive P/J - so I think I'd prefer to keep a J pickup there. I'll be interested to see how this project goes. In full agreement with @pedre the quality of the Squier CV Mustang. I wasn't looking for a bass - but I tried one in my local PMT and was blown away by how good it was! Not only that - although i didn't buy that particular one.... i ended up getting a PJ Mustang, as I'd forgotten just how much fun a decent short scale could be.
  9. I'm Mandy, fly me - 10cc
  10. Made of Stone - The Stone Roses
  11. I have one of these, bought from a fellow BC member a little while back (maybe a year?). My favourite colour for a p bass, and definitely my favourite bass yet. Really top notch quality, killer sound and lovely to play. GLWTS
  12. Looking great Jabba - as all your work seems to
  13. I had one of these in sunburst. I always wished it was in Fiesta Red, for some reason! Lol I don't know the seller - but to anyone looking for a Jazz bass..... these are incredible instruments, and lightweight for a J bass too.
  14. Strange little girl - The Stranglers
  15. It has been said before, but - Elvis on a P bass, wearing lilac trousers.... it just doesn't get any cooler
  16. Teenage depression - Eddie & The Hot Rods
  17. "When Saturday comes" - The Undertones
  18. Now dropped to £55 plus P&P Or trade for a Stomp-box (Something like the Roland SPD or similar.... what have you got?) Obviously with cash your way
  19. Ah so sorry to hear of your house maintenance woes mate I am sorely tempted by that beautiful looking bass
  20. Not played a bad Fender Japan bass yet. Always top quality, but this one just looks absolutely awesome. Nice relic job, great colour
  21. Nice looking bass @Clarky Gotta love a PJ. I don't need one, as I've been thinning the herd myself but if I did........ Out of interest, what was the super light P bass you went for? Hope you are well good sir
  22. Just adding this view of the same area, photographed in different (less harsh) lighting. Just pointing out that the vertical "lines" around the pickups are reflections of the strings, of course. This bass is rather shiny.
  23. I had a noodle on a Squier CV Mustang the other day. And I was instantly smitten! I'd played short scale basses before, but this one looked rather nice, it felt lovely to play, and sounded really decent too. The neck on the CV is lovely. So I'm tempted to pick a Mustang up now - having said I was on a mission to thin the collection.... doh! Belated happy NBD 😀
  24. I tried to photograph the worst of the scratches & swirls. The bass is very glossy and some of them just didn't show that well. This is possibly the worst area, and looks worse in the low angled bright sunlight I needed, to get it to show. Apologies, I was in the middle of cleaning both my P basses, and hadn't spotted that there was a lot of dust still on this one, esp near the neck. (static electricity, maybe). Looking at it again, the fretboard is a lovely dark rosewood. EDIT : the cross lighting in the close-up photo makes the defects look worse than they are IMO. Also, I just retouched that area on the back of the bass, with some gloss black, and that looks a bit tidier now too....
