1. For sale is my Aguilar tone hammer preamp/DI. This is hardly used and was carried in my gig bag as a backup. It has the original box and instructions. Condition is good, there are a couple of small marks, but you have to look close to see them. It comes with an Aguilar power supply with multiplug adaptors. £130 delivered in the UK.
2. https://youtu.be/BQD99KtNxlM these are also coming out, looks interesting.
3. I've only used the BB2, sticking a wedge under the front of the cab gets the sound to you ears when you're standing right next to it.
4. Try a GK MB800 before you do anything with the BIG ONE. At least you can rule it out.
5. There's a few second hand at bass direct just now as well.
6. http://www.ampwedge.com/ I looked at this, but decided to try using some "plastic" packing foam. It worked well with a wedge under the front of my BB2....so well i didn't see the point in buying the Ampwedge......and it's lighter and fits in my gig bag. Getting the front end of the cab wedged up does make a difference with smaller cabs.
7.
I work full-time (usually more than "full-time" in fact) and have a family - so, much as I would like to, I just can't put the time in to try stuff out
Snap! and i like really clean bass, no distortion. Once you get to a certain level of gear, it's not always available locally, so most of my purchases have been blind. some work, some don't. I'd like to try Glock.
8.
It's plenty loud enough as it is! My band is not particularly noisy, and my sound is not particularly bass-heavy. As a result, I'm not sure I need the extra power...
Yes, the reason i was saying this is from my experience with a TECAMP PUMA 1000. I could run 350 watts from one amp at 8 ohms or bridge it to 1000 watts at 8 ohms. At the same perceived output volume it felt so much nicer with the extra headroom. Look forward to your F1 thoughts
9. I'll watch with interest The F1 is more along the tonal lines of the GK, Genz and Tecamp,I believe. Still think you should put 500 watts at 8 ohms into your Big One, given my experience with BBt and BB2.
10. Reading all your comments here, have you tried and discounted the MB800?
11. The gen2 midget T has slightly pronounced mids, but the Big baby t and the Big baby 2 don't......from my experience.
12. You might miss the tweeter. Big baby2 might be a better option. I sold my Mk 2 Compact 1x15 because of lack of top end definition. (for my taste). Big baby 2 is the best cab I've owned and i would say probably as loud as your 2x 2x 10's. I'm putting 500+ watts into mine with a GK MB800. My setup is as loud as my EPI UL2 4x10 was before you could feel the EPI drivers reaching excursion limit.
13. I had one of these at the time.....great amp, used to link the channels. Nostalgia
14. One BF Big Baby 2 will cover everything up till you need your 8x10.....and maybe you'll rethink the 810 It's also 8 ohms.
15. I always keep my Barefaced Midget on the floor or somewhere you get boundary reinforcement. Experience of lifting up higher results in quite a lot of low end loss.
16. Just my twopence-worth, I've had a BIg baby T and now a Big baby 2. I know everyone has different tonal ideas, but i found the Tonehammer pedal into the power amp of my Shuttle 9 a bit lacking in clarity and not enough range of mid adjustments with the big babies. I also found my Streamliner 900 horrible in the mids with the big baby T, yet it was good with my Midget t. If the original Big One is similar sounding i would look at something a bit brighter than the Aguilar. Genz Benz shuttle 9.0 worked well as does my Shuttlemax 9.2, but i really like the MB800 with BB's, perhaps the fusion is the way to go. The SWR is also known for being brighter...haven't tried one, but it may be good. You need a bit of power to drive that cab, so again the fusion has more power than the Tonehammer 350. Good luck with your choice!
17. Best basses I've played, i have a fretted and fretless J5
18. I've had a new MB800 for a few months now and it has totally reliable so far.....hope it stays that way, really enjoying it
19. More Pics
20. For sale is my Barefaced Big Baby T, with Roqsolid cover. Immaculate condition, only used by me for jazz gigs, so hasn't been pushed or transported in vans. There are a couple of scratches on one of the metal corners, and a generation 3 handle is fitted. The only reason for this sale is the purchase of another Barefaced cab, and that would make three....I don't need three! £475.00 delivered in the UK, no trades thanks. 21. My first bass was a Tuxedo Bass, it looked very similar to yours. £10 in 1973, must look for pics of it. I remember the pickup response being different on each of the strings...it was the same pickup as yours. trip down memory lane...thanks.
