1.
I was planning on changing my strings every two to three months this year, just to try out a few different makes. I put a set of hi beams on my favourite bass in February and they still sound so good that I have no intention of changing them again before they die.
Hi Beams have lasted the longest of all the DRs I've tried so far.
2.
There's a brilliant free app called Bass Tabs. It's available on there.
On where?
3. There's a great app called Songster as well, has a massive library of tabs. I got the paid version, allows you to slow the instrumental file down and has some other great features, too. It was only £3 on Google Play, one of the best purchases I've made as a bassist. I wouldn't be without it.
4. No problems, thanks for the reply. I tried a 2nd hand $$4 recently and found the neck incredibly chunky, but surprisingly easy and manageable to play. I take it this is the same? Is it true that the neck dimensions changed on the $$ basses at one point?
5. Someone will be along to shoot me down in a minute, but.... I, too, had wanted a Spector - AND a Stingray. I watched countless demos of the Spector as they are extremely hard to come by in Scotland, and what I ultimately concluded was that, the Spector does one particular thing extremely well, but to my ears, appeared to lack the versatility I was looking for in a bass. It also seems like it might be a bit overpowering in a band setting. Great basses for rock/metal, mind you. But bear in mind I haven't played one.
6. Worked out well for McCartney. http://youtu.be/PcDVH8DiBnM
7. Can anyone provide a soundclip of the Entwistle pups in action please?
8.
KiOgon loom fitted - lovely smooth pots, and the low end 'swells' as you wind the tone right down.
How was it to fit?
9. Is this one of the Vettes with the insanely thick necks?
10.
If my Hb jazz is anything to go by, then the Hb p will be very good. My jazz has quite quickly became my go to bass!
Really?? I need to try these beasts.
11. Worth it for Flea alone. Well, Flea and Chad. He really is the bomb.
12. Uh......where is the completed listings button, please?
13.
Click on the 'completed listings' button and you'll see what's been listed and what's actually sold - or just click on the 'sold' sub-section to see only sold items
How did I not know about this?? Thank you
14. How? Ebay has such a wide array of differing values for one of my basses, some seem like a snip, others appear to be talking nonsense. How does one obtain an accurate valuation for one's plank? Or is it a case of "it's worth whatever someone wants to pay for it"? I'm interested to know what my kit and caboodle is worth. I don't want to waste my time or anyone else's by putting it on at an unrealistic price to see if I get any interest. Thanks guys
15. And where can one typically obtain that?
16.
A common complaint with new flat wounds. Give them a good wipe down with a clean cloth and, if you have it, isopropyl alcohol. You'll be surprised how much black yuck comes off.
Thanks for the tip. Where can one typically obtain isopropyl alcohol?
17. Just banged a set of DR Fat Beams on my Fender Jazz. Nice. Tension is pretty much perfect. But here's the problem......they're......sticky. Not sticky as in residue. Sticky as in....how do I even define it.....not smooth? Not easy to slide? Not dead, by any means, but not lively to the touch. Any ideas how to make them.....not sticky? Brand new strings, fresh out the packet, but feel kinda dulled to touch.
18.
Me Too!!! I'll bring a shovel
If you killed my ma for a B15.....I'd totally understand!
19. Ooooo my! Shame you're not interested in a trade. GLWTS matey.
20. I would kill my ma for one of these amps.
21.
Most of mine alltogether. CIJ-fretless - 70 P - 73 P- 2009 Jazz- 2009 Roadworn P- 82 Stingray
Any chance you have a standalone pic of that pink P Bass?
