Circa £200 - but can't recall the exact figure. The original Moon receipt is on file - but don't have the file to hand.
Hah ! I got him to do the same, plus brass percussion plate (his idea, he was also quite keen to stick a bug in there too, but I just took the plate option), to an Aria TSB550N in nineteen canteen for about £60. It was, as they say, a Stoater !
2. SOLD
3. Now Sold Small blue half rack stereo/mono compressor with side chain input. Various presets plus fully manual setting. PSU and manual Sounds good, goes great except for now and then, I have to give the input control a twist. Maybe grotty pot ? Anyway £25
4.
Actually i just saw how much it was. Maybe not then.
Did you try the demo ? I agree re the price. I was thinking £130-£140, not too bad, but £199 and over (some places are £223) is just too much. It's a pity, but it must be selling OK if there has been no reduction in price.
5. Has any one been using this at all ? MarkBass Studio 1 I downloaded the demo (times out in 14 days), and have to say I was impressed ! I found the amp and cab sims a lot better than my old PodXT Live with Bass pack. Considering I was using the standalone version with my bass straight into a Emu 0404USB2 interface, on a standard Windows 7 pc running the usual everyday stuff at the same time, the response was instant. Unfortunately, it's pricey here as opposed to the USA, so I think it will be back to the DI in two weeks. Great while I've got it though
6. Given a well made, comfy, easy to play bass, I'd go for a Roland VG99 and GK PU, and (according to Roland, but I think Ped or CK has one so he'll know) get any sound of any bass and any amp. I must say my guitar version (VG99) works just like it's described, so I'd love to have the loot for the bass version. Plenty of "signature" tones to pick from
7. I don't know about the V-bass, but I've changed the battery on a number of modules, keyboard etc, and didn't lose anything. Maybe I was lucky, but if the battery needs changed, it needs changed.
8.
One of these maybe? http://www.yorkville.com/products.asp?cat=...pe=71&id=80
That looks as if it is. It's a pity there is no UK distributor according to their list
9. About six or seven years ago when I worked in a music shop, we had this little blue carpeted combo with, I think a 10" or 12", (though I'm convinced it was a "10") which sounded great even though it was only about 60w. Although I was gigging a Trace stack at the time, for house practices etc I was using a really crappy 30w Marshall, and this little blue thing blew it and every other baby amp away ! It sounded like a 15" combo with "proper" bottom and punch, having none of the boxiness of the usual combos in the 60-100w range. I should have bought it (not least 'cos I would get a discount ) but I demoed every shop bass through it and eventually sold it. Ever since then I keep trying to remember what it was. I think it was a Yorkville or Maine (these could have been the same makes- I can't remember). I've had another nice "mini" amp since then which reminded me of it, but that was a EA 1AMP350 combo, considerably more power, and more loot. If anything It seems to have been something like the Mark Bass or Phil Jones stuff now. I wish I knew what it was, cos I'd buy one Now I'm not gigging anymore, I'd like a nice light 8" or 10" combo with a bit of the same sound for messing about with, but without getting into the realms of MB, PJ,etc Is there anything available that sounds like the above ?
10.
Price?
Have a bump for a great unit. I love mine, and I'd like a VB99 to go with it (post lottery win, of course)
11. I may as well get a "proper" psu then. It says it can also be powered via phantom power too. Handy for recording Thanks
12. So what do you think then, 7v ?
13. After a rummage about I've found an adjustable digital camera adaptor which states: PRI :100v-240~50/60Hz 20W SEC :3, 3.3, 5, 6, 6.5, 7V;;;;;; (top line solid, bottom broken) 2100mA 14.7VA(max) Can I use this to power the xciter, and if so, what setting should I use ? The downloaded manual states that external power should be : 5-12VAC 7-17VDC I don't want to blow the xciter up, so I thought I'd ask. TIA
14. PM sent
15. Have a bump for a great unit, I love mine !
16.
sorry to hijack the thread but this question might help you too. I have a 33" scale bass. Its so easy to get around compared to 34" and 35". It plays amazing and I find it weird going back to a 34" scale. feels too big now. I dont know any basses with this scale though. Anyone know of any 33" scale basses?? I wouldnt mind trying some out too. Cheers Jobie
I don't know about 33" scale, but I used to have a Aria TSB550 with straight through neck whic was 32" and I loved it. I had it defretted with a percussion plate installed by Jimmy Moon. I wish I could get another one. Peter
17. Now Ebayed
18. Gone Via EBay Original registered Steinberg SE3 package (dvd, manual, protection key, update and box), I don't know if there will be any interest, but hey ho ! I've had it running with Win XP, Vista, and Windows 7 It does an awful lot of what the more expensive cubase versions do, but is obviously cheaper. Some specs here It's already been registered, but I can change the registration details to the buyer on production of your email address. £50 + whatever p&p there would be (collection free)
19. The funkiest, bluesiest, Little Feat (classic lineup with Lowell George) on the live "Waiting For Columbus" cd featuring Kenny Gradney on bass.
20. Withdrawn as I've come to my senses, and with a bit of work and a set of D'Addarios on it's a keeper It's also gone up to £699 new eek !
21.
I noticed a lack of luthiers up my way & had spotted these chaps earlier if you want it to add to your list... http://www.baileyguitars.co.uk/ They're based in Maybole in Fife but I know nowt about them. Have been considering building a bass with them tho. Anybody on here used them before (or even heard of em)?
I haven't heard of them before, but Maybole is in Ayrshire. The other coast from Fife There must be more up here surely ? I haven't had anything done to what I have left yet, so I can't help with a recommendation, apart from Jimmy Moon defretting an Aria TSB550 years ago. I heard he was concentrating on custom builds and no more repairs, but I'm well out of touch
22. Thanks, I'll try all this.
23. *Tumbleweed rolls by* *Kicks tumbleweed and it goes....* Bump!
24. I've had this Ibanez SR1000FM Prestige since I gave up playing live, so it's hardly been used. However, it's recently started to become noisy when altering the eq controls (they're two dual concentric controls - Bass and Treble on one, Mid band and Boost/Cut on the other.). I've changed the battery, but no go. Everything looks OK inside, but the seems to be nowhere in the eq pots (which are way smaller than the volume and pan) to squirt switch cleaner. I can see something moving through a cutout in the pot when I'm moving the inner control, so should I treat it there ? It's a mystery to me. It was fine when I bought it, and it's hardly been used. Its kept in it's case in a cupboard which is not damp etc. Any ideas ?
