  1. Ah, ok, I don't have that
  2. Depends if you plug it in high or low.
  3. I always assumed that the knobs were there for decoration.
  4. It is easy enough to do (and fairly rewarding) with some basic tools. It is worth learning if you are interested
  5. We have a different set list for every gig. It is usually thrown together at the last minute by the singer and occasionally guitarist, and then completely ignored by the end of the gig.
  6. It would be hard to persuade that many people that it was worth a whole quid.
  7. Both are better than a marginal musician that's a jerk. And thats not that uncommon.
  8. Is funky in the context used ironically or something? Like 'accident with a band saw' sort of ironic?
  9. I am not bothered either way by brightside. There are some songs we do I dislike but have come to accept as the public love them (inc sex on fire - no idea why people like that), but oasis is just one bit too far for me, so it isn't going to happen on my watch!
  10. We have a 'good god no' veto, and then a 'absolutely no Oasis under any circumstances' veto. Every so often try to push against that but its not moving anywhere!
  11. We all chip in suggestions and if noone really hates it strongly enough, we try it, and if it works it stays in. As we all have very different ideas of what works, we come up with a very odd collection.
  12. Not sure of the relevance - the L2000 is nothing like a thunderbird. I have an L2500 and yes its a big neck (although not as clumsy feeling as a precision) but it is more a precision style. A thunderbird neck (like a proper one) is very small - I have an epiphone classic and its neck is much closer to my old ibanez sr 4 string. So we were talking about it being chunky 'for a thunderbird'
  13. You have to what now??
  14. I had a look too. They certainly do a good job of hiding them!
  15. Generally what I feel, but that is how things are - except the one where they insist on 3 hours, that is outdoors in a beer garden so people can move away to chat.
  16. Nope, just a covers band in pubs. we have now (after much whinging) managed to get down to doing sub 3 hours, so 3 hours with a 15 minute break or something, but the guitarist and singer are convinced people want 3 hour gigs (actually only one venue wants that). Normally do 9 - 12 (but often go over that).
  17. Because they have different motivations to you. And if you got to the galleries you will find only a small number of pictures compared to the millions of original pictures that have been painted, to which again you could say 'Paint me something actually original and good'.
  18. Dream of two 45 minute sets! Its nice when we do sub 3 hour gigs, it has got more common for us recently
  19. Also 5 string were expensive. In fact it was cheaper to buy the thing to use ordinary strings and a set of strings than a 5 string double ball end
  20. Its a Chapman NS/Stick. A joint thing between Emmet Chapman and Ned Steinberger.
  21. ok, might as well add myself to the list Attendance & Gear List: 1. @Frank Blank‘s No Longer Acoustic Corner - Rob Allen Mouse, ACG Harlot SC, ACG Recurve SS, Ibanez SRC6, QSC K12.2, Helix Stomp, HX Edit. 2. @rich’s Garden Of Delights - Shuker custom 5, Tanglewood acoustic 4, EBS Neo 2x12 & probable new amp (tbc) - both basses strung with nickel Elixirs. Possibly some FS stuff, details tbc once it hits the paid Marketplace. 3. @wrinkleygit, Jabba’s Semi Hollow Fretless, ‘72 Gibson EB0, SWR Working Mans 10 combo & 1x10 ext cab & a set of h’phones. Both basses strung with Labella flats 4. @scrumpymike Setting aside a bunch of FS stuff to give SW Bashers first shot and minimise packing and shipping work/costs. Unless cash flow dictates earlier sale, this will include: a couple of BF cabs (either SC Gen 3s or Two10s, to be decided); BF One10; Maruszczyk Elwood 30" scale; Spector Bantam if still unsold (already posted FS); Eden WT550 if still unsold (already posted FS); Ampeg PF800. 'Keepers' also on display will be: the other pair of BF cabs; my no. 1 gig bass 'Rascal Mervyn-Lyte; 'Rascal Lyte Mkll - provided I can decide what it's going to be in time for AndyJr to build it; my no 1 gig amp (Subway 800+); my old no 1 gig amp (Genzler Magellan 800). All of which will hopefully bring forward the day when Mrs Scrumpy can finally join her old man in retirement 😁 5. @Pea Turgh My Frankenstein Jazzguarman(!) strung with D’Addario XL Chrome flats. My black bitsa (same strings). Probably my Peterson combo which I’ll flit between selling and not selling (still). 6. @stevie Ibanex SR1200-VNF, Ashdown RM500, BCbass 112, plus some other bass cab developments (probably) 7. @yorks5stringer Gretsch Electromatic, Markbass CMD101 Micro Marcus Miller 8. @Andyjr1515 Not yet sure what I will be bringing except my athletic physique and chiselled good looks (and if you believe that.... ) 9.@stewblack Trace Elliot Rig of Death. Ric inspired 'tributes' various amps and basses for sale unless they shift here first. A hernia (probably). 10. @basstone For Sale refurbished Marshall DBS200 combo fitted with beyma 12" speaker. BC v3 cab with G&K MB500 amp. '78 Fender fretless jazz bass with rotosound nylon coated strings. Probably plus one other bass TBD 11.@woodinblack - Ibanez 5 string (not decided which), Chapman stick railboard, Chapman NS/Stick, Probably TC450, BC 112 Speaker. 12.
  22. Well, it does play like a 5 string with 3 smaller spaced guitar strings. Pretty interesting so far, you can actually play ordinary bass and chords on it at the same time. Think it might take a time to master!
  23. Having looked into getting double ball ends for my Hohner B2V, I am happy to not have double ball ends!
  24. They did and I would never disrespect them by playing one of their covers
  25. Which is after the end of that group, exactly what the singer did. He said he only wanted to do his stuff in future. Thats fair enough. We used to be a combined covers / originals band and I guess it must have been depressing that when the originals were played, people went and sat down or went to the bar, and when the covers came on they all got up and danced. He has been on the local radio though saying about how unimaginative playing covers is. Fair enough, keep banging out those imaginative i-iv-v acoustic songs in 4-4 time.
