What do you mean? Do you need the XR18 somewhere else?
-
Yes, I love the X-Touch so I have it everywhere, although I also use the X-Air app as it is easier for going out front for a setup and for doing eq on (never got on with mixing station).

I think the people who would come along wouldn't have actually noticed there was a bass player.

Problems with the "How was your gig last night?" thread
Woodinblack replied to BigRedX's question in Site Issues and Questions
I am happy that there is no underlying problem *now*, not necessarily that there wasnt earlier (and after a gig yesterday, I slept through 3 snoozes so 8am wasn't a time I checked!). There are always some edge cases at the end of a page, and maybe one of those was in play. -
Problems with the "How was your gig last night?" thread

I looked at that page a few times today and didn't see this. Also, 700 pages long probably wouldn't make it into the top 10 of threads -
Odd one for us yesterday. The drummer is in another band, they had a gig at one of the venues that is hard to get in (a local beauty spot on a hill), but their singer couldn't be bothered, so he asked if we wanted to do it, but our singer was away. Rather than turn it down he decided that we would ask the singer of another band if she wanted to do a one off gig with us as she had recently quit her band, so she said ok. So we had 4 weeks for us to make a 45 track set list which consisted of all the songs that our setlists shared, so she had to learn 15-20 of ours, and we had to learn 10-15 of hers. and a couple of holidays in the middle. So we did it yesterday. Unfortunately the crowd was a bit smaller than usual as they had put an odd name up for the group (we would have got more with our own name), but it worked out pretty well, there were a few little mistakes as you can imagine, but there were no disasters and we got through it well. And more importantly it was fun!

As you say, you can fool the casual observers a lot of the time, especially if you don't put much effort in as this, but it is another deterrent and perfect is the enemy of good, so better th

You can fake it without too much trouble, but the thing is that it is just another hurdle to scamming, that most people won't bother with, generally people with some skills are less likely to be the people scamming. I used to put my name in all eBay adverts, but for whatever reason, they banned having usernames in adverts, presumably as they wanted to use them for their own purposes. The only downside I see is that a fake postit (like the one on here recently) adds legitimacy to a fake post, and many people are very bad at spotting fakes, even when they are quite obvious, like most AI pictures.

Well, who saw a Stylophone Theremin coming?

I gor the actual reciept on the day, and the congrats email just now. I assume that you getting a congrats email is the same. Does it have your order on their site? -

Yeh, I had a 'congratulations for managing to buy one' email -
Well, I could take some time and work it out - I mean there is nothing in it I didn't bolt there in the first place, so it is either the speaker (which it doesn't seem to be) or the electronic board.

Maybe I should bring my BC112 cab too, so we can play that 'what is that loud clonk noise in it when I move it round' game

Looks like an RCF Evox, which is what I am using for bass now.

Yesterday, was actually the day, not the evening. It was a pub, not too far away in the deep country. Mains lead going across the road, playing in the village square, which seems to belong to the pub, next to a little stream, sunny, under a gazebo, pretty rural. Lovely afternoon, we dialed down the rockiness, I persuaded the group that we didn't have to do 3 hours, and it made for a chilled and well supported set, with a roast in the middle. Audience were very supportive and I love the outdoor gigs as its just so much easier to do the sound - just turn everything up, although it has to be said, with the 2x RCF Evox 8s outdoor, we were flat out with nowhere to go. Luckily, we didn' tneed anywhere to go, but if we had that would have been it. But it was clear and no complaints from anyone. Landlady loved it too, so free drinks and part of the roast!

Investment is not really a thing in a band, it is time spent, more than an investment, unless it is getting you a very large sum of money. You would be surprised how quickly a new guitarist can get up to speed (and how many of them there are, especially in norfolk), and if you have a guitarist already, they don't need to do it all in one go.
-
Easy enough to get other guitarists, especially if you already have one. One reasonable guitarist is streets ahead of an amazing guitarist who messes everything up.

Whatever he wants to do - PAs is the only one of those he hasn't covered yet. Or maybe PA system comparisons, thats not something that its easy to get normally

Well.. not that rare

Well, who saw a Stylophone Theremin coming?
Woodinblack replied to Woodinblack's topic in Other Instruments
Odd - I would imagine that several people are in that boat too, so they will be able to sort it out easily enough. I got a "Thankyou for your order" email, order #16354 (I am sure I refreshed more times than that), which says it will be 8 weeks, which is what they said in the original email, although they also said that they were sitting in factories around the world ready to go, which seems a contridiction as aliexpress seem to be able to ship something to me from china in a week for £1.20. Edit - I also got an email just before that thanking me for setting up a stylophone account, which now I check has 1 order for a theremin saying 'processing' so probably good. I will expect it to turn up in the second week of october -

Need? What is this word, what does it mean in this context - need one? -

The preorder is over, it is open to ordering. It takes a lot of refreshes but I ordered one in the end. -
Oddly, and somewhat uncharacteristically I haven't bought any basses this year. I have bought a Lava Me Play guitar, but apart from that not much new. Maybe I will bring the Bongo, they are always good for people to like or hate and you don't see many of those in the wild.

Could be my ears ........ but ..... "BRIGHT" PA
Woodinblack replied to Pirellithecat's topic in PA set up and use
Oh conceptally not a problem, or even accuracy, its just manipulating a screen with a finger is always going to be worse than a moving thing, I have the same problems with touch screen on cars, especially when that iPad also has lyrics on it, so you might have to switch to it first. But I did several hundred gigs before getting the X-Touch, so certainly not a huge stress, just quite a bit nicer with it! -

For me it isn't tablet that is an issue - I use the tablet most of the time and for most adjustments, but I use the X touch control surface in the gig while playing. As I am singing, playing bass and mixing, a physical control is just easier to hit than a point on the screen when you have a fraction of a second to do it, it just makes it eaiser with not much time to change some levels, which is the 99% job. And it is wired, so worse comes to the worse, if there is a problem with wireless, it is always there.
